WCW Week of June 19, 2000 Recap

Nitro - Horace gets a match with Goldberg. Cat negotiates some matches for Nash and Steiner, making Steiner v. Jarrett for the title, and Nash v. Cat for Hall's contract. - Tank and Rick attack Perfect Event as they try to fool them in production. - 3 Count get a clean win over Jung Dragons. Lance Storm debuts and lays out 3 Count as they do their routine. - Vito retains the Hardcore Title over Johnny the Bull with an impaler DDT off scaffolding through a table. Funk then offers to be a mentor to Johnny. - Kanyon plugs his face book and makes an open challenge, which is accepted by Booker T, who's gotten rid of the GI Bro gimmick. No match happens, Booker just beats up Kanyon. - Horace gets squashed by Goldberg. - Nash beats Cat, but it was a ruse and doesn't get Hall's contract. Our opening video package puts over how prestigious the King of the Ring tournament and the competitors in this year's edition. Then the players and key points in the main event of the night, HHH the vulnerable champion, Kane Rock and Taker joining forces for better or worse, calling Vince's actions and behavior insanity or genius and the turmoil it's caused, allies or enemies in the three challengers, and victory or defeat. We're live from the Fleet Center in Boston, Massachusetts. J.R. and the King welcome us to the show and we get started right away with the titular tournament. RAW Right to the opening video package and pyro as we're welcomed to the show by J.R., live from the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Right away we get to what J.R. calls a "Sweet 16" King of the Ring Match, the first of six on tonight's show. King of the Ring Tournament First Round Match: Kurt Angle vs Bubba Ray Dudley Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts : Seeing as this tournaments going to have a minimum of 16 matches, it makes sense to have some of the matches on Raw and probably Smackdown, you can't fit all that AND the World Title on a 3 hour show. Angle's out first with a mic and calls himself an all-around great guy, says he's been all around the world spreading great cheer, then tries to get a cheap pop mentioning Nashville but just gets boos.
