Our opening video package puts over how prestigious the King of the Ring tournament and the competitors in this year's edition. Then the players and key points in the main event of the night, HHH the vulnerable champion, Kane Rock and Taker joining forces for better or worse, calling Vince's actions and behavior insanity or genius and the turmoil it's caused, allies or enemies in the three challengers, and victory or defeat.
We're live from the Fleet Center in Boston, Massachusetts. J.R. and the King welcome us to the show and we get started right away with the titular tournament.
King of the Ring Tournament Quarterfinal Match: Rikishi (WWF Intercontinental Champion) vs Chris Benoit
15 min time limit.
Pre-Match: We get a replay of Kish winning the IC Title on Smackdown and the post-match attack by Benoit.
Benoit right on the attack as he enters the ring to start the match, then trading shots until Kish is driven into the corner, until being shoved down. Kish with rights and a Samoan Drop and Benoit rolls out. Benoit into the steel steps before returning to the ring. Benoit ducks a clothesline and goes for a German suplex but can't get Kish off his feet, Kish with elbows but after a blow to Kish's head, Benoit manages to lift Kish into the German, then a cover for two.
Benoit with boots and rights in the corner, working the arm and shoulder in the ropes until a break is forced. More boots by Benoit then a standing arm triangle almost brings Kish to a knee, he manages to pull himself back up until Kish backs into the corner for a break. Benoit with chops, then gets whipped across the ring but sidesteps Kish and knocks him down. Benoit gets the Crossface applied but Kish gets to the ropes in time. Benoit has had enough and grabs a chair, nailing Kish in the face for the DQ in 3:25. Well that was anti-climactic for a good match.
Benoit wails away at Kish's back and shoulder before putting him back in the Crossface. Ref calls down for officials and out they rush to pull Benoit off and they can't pry him off and he finally relents. Benoit goes up top for the flying headbutt to the back of the head and reapplies the Crossface for a few seconds then releases and scares off everyone before leaving. Officials back in to check on Kish as he heads to the back, and there's a noticeably huge bruise on Kish's bicep.
We see some footage from Heat earlier in the night where Cole caught up with Linda. She says that she's there to do something she should have done long ago, which is confront her husband.
Speaking of her husband, we cut to the Faction in the back with HHH trying to get Vince to keep his cool but Vince laughs at the idea of Linda making him lose his cool. HHH reminds him how Vince reacts every time she shows her face, and Vince admits she gets under his skin on occasion, but promises he'll keep his cool tonight, calling himself Joe Cool. Vince leaves and Shane and HHH are not convinced.
We get replays of Benoit's attack on Kish from moments ago, and seeing it from the front it's pretty obvious the chair comes nowhere near Kish's face so that's good at least. Cole is right on the scene backstage with Benoit to ask why he threw away his chance to become King. Benoit spells it out for Cole since his actions didn't say enough apparently, he says that the world already knows he's the greatest technical wrestler in WWF history, and the world and Kish found out that he does what he wants when he wants, and no one can stop him. Then he leaves.
King of the Ring Tournament Quarterfinal Match: Eddie Guerrero (WWF European Champion) (w/ Chyna) vs Val Venis (w/ Trish Stratus)

Lock up immediately but Val shoves him away a moment later, then Eddie misses a clothesline and Val with some rights. Eddie face first in the corner and more shots by Val followed by some boots and choking Eddie down in the corner. Eddie reverses a whip across the ring, sending him hard into the corner and Eddie delivers a running dropkick. Val sent off the ropes into a leaping side kick. Eddie sends Val chest first into the corner then delivers a dropkick to the back, then a backslide for two. Eddie sent off the ropes, launched up and driven down on his chest to the mat. Eddie sent off the ropes into a back elbow and an elbow drop for a cover and two. Back breaker by Val, torquing the back over his knee a bit more before letting him go. Eddie sent off the ropes, popped up but catches Val with a hurricanrana. Eddie with a back suplex before going up top but misses a senton and hit with a spinebuster. Val goes up top now, goes for the Money Shot but Eddie gets the knees up. Eddie with a half nelson cradle for two.
Val sent off the ropes, Eddie ducks but Val catches him, tries for a swinging neckbreaker, Eddie tries to counter but Val gets him with a Russian leg sweep into a cover for two. Eddie reverses a whip into the corner but caught with an elbow. Val rolls him up with feet on the ropes but Eddie still kicks out. Eddie counters a suplex attempt and crotches Val on the top rope in the corner but Eddie's shoved off. Eddie back up and hits the hurricanrana. Trish is on the apron and distracts the ref, though it's short lived as Chyna pulls her down. Now Eddie gets distracted and Val nails him from behind before grabbing Chyna by the hair over the ropes. He tries to nail her but she blocks and gets a shot in, Eddie rolls him up but Val kicks out. Val and Eddie trade counters off a suplex attempt and Val ends up hitting a fisherman suplex with a bridge for the win in 8:05. Another good match.
Chyna looks on as Val and Trish head to the back.
Patterson is in the back with... someone, I think she's the makeup lady, trying to pick an outfit for his match tonight. Most of the outfits are too big for him, or not right for him, he wants something that'll make him look better than Brisco. She says she's good but she's not a miracle worker. OK that kinda made me laugh as stupid as it was.
We get the updated brackets, and now we have Kish vs Val set for the semifinals. Coach is with Kish back in the locker room to ask if he's physically able to continue in the tournament tonight. Kish says that what he's been through is nothing compared to what he's gonna do to Val, and is looking forward to it. Then he leaves.
King of the Ring Tournament Quarterfinal Match: Crash Holly vs Bull Buchanan
15 min time limit
Pre-Match: We see replays of Crash's path to this match, with a qualifying win over Albert and his DQ win over his cousin that past Raw. Bull comes out, and I had to look it up to be sure, but he comes out to One Man Gang's old theme, as opposed to Boss Man's theme for obvious reasons.
Bull misses a right and Crash with some of his own before being knocked and tossed out, but immediately rolls back in with some forearm shots then knocked down again and tossed out again, and back in and knocked down. Bull with a gorilla press slam, then Crash sent off the ropes into a clothesline, then a backbreaker, then a second. Big boot by Bull. Crash with some shots before being sent into the corner form more body shots, Crash whipped across the ring before choking Crash with his forearm. More shots in the corner, then a suplex by Bull into a cover for two.
Crash tossed out to the floor, ax handle to the back by Bull off the apron before returning to the ring. Another right by Bull, then Crash face first in the corner for more rights. Crash sent off the ropes into another big boot, then mounted rights by Bull. Bull off the ropes with a boot to the side of the head. Crash fighting back with body shots only to be kneed in the ribs, then counters a scoop slam with an inside cradle for two. Bull immediately with a clothesline, Crash sent off the ropes into a flapjack. Bull comes off the ropes but misses his scissor kick, Crash rolls him up wit a half-nelson cradle for the win in 4:08. Yeah there really wasn't much to this match, but Houdini struck again so at least there's that.
Crash makes a quick escape to the back and gets a big pop as Bull looks on in disbelief and we get the replay.
Cut to Linda in the back and in comes Vince, saying she's graced him with her presence, the same Linda who continues to meddle in his business, who reinstated Austin after he fired his ass, who wanted Foley to live his dream at Mania just before he crushed it, who named Michaels as the WWF spokesperson, brought back Dave Hebner, resigned Taker, slapped her own daughter, and he finally asks what brought her to Boston. She's here to ask about his match tonight, wondering if he'll be man enough with Shane and HHH or if he's going to make it 12 on 3 again like he did on Smackdown. He makes a fair point in reminding her who she's talking to, but gets upset with the way she looks at him, and says that no one, especially her, questions his intestinal fortitude. She reminds her that it was her idea to have the title on the line, and it will ensure his team's victory tonight and ensures no outside interference tonight and that Vince always wins. He thanks her for showing up and leaves. That went on too long to announce no interference.
King of the Ring Tournament Quarterfinal Match: Kurt Angle vs Chris Jericho
15 min time limit
Pre-Match: Kurt has a mic as he comes out and says it's a very special night in the life of our Olympic Hero, because he's going to do something that's practically unheard of in Boston, something the Bruins couldn't do, or the Celtics, or the Patriots, or the Red Sox... well he just plain says the teams in Boston suck. His point is though that he's going to bring home the big one, it's true, or as the people of Boston would say, "It's true, I'm fat, I'm unemployed, now get me another beer." Jericho also has a mic and tells "Kirk Angel" not to sell himself short because in his mind, and the minds of the Jerichoholics, Kurt is already a king, the king of goofy, ugly ring attire, of all the nerds, and more importantly the king of the 30 year old virgins. He says that as far as he and the fans are concerned, Kurt's already a royal pain in the ass, then calls him jerky.
Jericho ducks a clothesline and gets some in, then Kurt rakes the eyes and drives Jericho into the corner with some rights. Jericho whipped across the ring but gets Kurt with a clothesline, only to be caught with a belly to belly and a cover for two. Jericho sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline and hits a flying forearm. Chops on Kurt, but gets reverses off the ropes, catches Kurt with a kick, gets back dropped over the ropes but catches himself on the apron. Jericho up top with a missile dropkick and a cover for two. Kurt reverses a whip into the corner but misses a corner splash and Jericho hits his running bulldog and the Lionsault already, covers but Angle gets his foot on the bottom rope. Angle rolls to the apron and Jericho hits his springboard dropkick out of the corner.
Rights by Jericho and chops against the barricade before wbipping Kurt into it, but he gets hip tossed over to the concrete floor. Kurt tosses him back over but Jericho catches him with a right, only to be whipped shoulder first into the steps. Back in the ring, Angle hits a suplex and floats over for two. Rear chinlock with a leg grapevine by Angle, Jericho eventually fights back to his feet and elows out, off the ropes, through the legs with a double underhook backbreaker and a cover but Angle grabs the bottom rope. Angle sent off the ropes but holds on as Jericho goes for a dropkick. Angle catapults Jericho face first into the corner and follows with a back suplex and a cover for two.
Jerich with some shots in until he's sent off the ropes and into a clothesline, Angle covers again for two. Jericho face first in the corner and choked by Angle's boot, then Jericho fights back with rights, Angle sent off the ropes, slips around and hits a bridging German for two. Angle with more shots in the corner and boots, but he's led face first into the bottom turnbuckle as he argues with the ref. Jericho with more chops, Angle whipped across the ring into a boot. Angle to the middle rope but he's dropkicked in the chest, then Jericho with the hurricanrana from the top.
Jericho with more rights, Angle sent off the ropes into a back elbow. More chops, Angle reverses off the ropes but caught with a spinning heel kick into a cover for two. Angle sent into the corner and Jericho tries to follow up with his bulldog but Angle spins around to nail a clothesline, then covers for a near fall. Jericho revers an Irish whip, misses a clothesline, then counters an Angle Slam and goes for the Walls. Out runs Steph though and on the apron to distract the ref and Angle's tapping out. Jericho lets go of the hold and Angle eventually nails Jericho who bumps into the ref. Steph back on the apron and accidentally nails Kurt with the Women's Title belt. Jericho sets his sights on her, blocks a slap and gives a lip lock, Steph rolling out. This allows Kurt to deliver the Angle Slam though and get the win in 9:51. This was as good a match as you'd expect from these two, albeit a bit of an overbooked finish.
Steph looks on in disgust wiping her mouth as she leaves, and Kurt is close behind, Jericho looking on in anger as we go to replays.
Back to Vince and Shane in the back who's upset with Vince for not keeping his cool and the no interference stip he's put in place now. Vince still insists he kept his cool and Linda made no difference, and continues to insist their opponents won't be able to work together with the title on the line and to keep his confidence. Shane though is worried about HHH's confidence more than his own, and Vince agrees.
Over to a packed WWF New York and there's Foley along with bartender Ivory. Hard to hear a damn thing he's saying with the raucous crowd, but he mentions he has a business meeting in Connecticut tomorrow, and since he heard WWF New York was broadcasting the PPV, and he's from Long Island, he decided to stop by. They talk about the '98 King of the Ring, of course the ever infamous Cell Match he had with Taker, and suggests that maybe someone will have a more memorable moment tonight and names Angle as his personal favorite.
We get our updated brackets for the tournament to continue later on, but seems we have a bit of a buffer match first.
We're live from the Fleet Center in Boston, Massachusetts. J.R. and the King welcome us to the show and we get started right away with the titular tournament.

Four Corners Elimination Match for the WWF Tag Team Championship: Edge & Christian vs T&A (w/ Trish Stratus) vs The Hardy Boyz (w/ Lita) vs Too Cool (c)
Pre-Match: E&C are out first and Christian greets their fans in Beantown. He says Boston has some pretty good sports memories, whether it's Larry Bird bringing home numerous NBA titles, or Bobby Orr bringing home the Stanley Cup, or even that year with Nomar Garciaparra flirting with 400, it made the decision for their new pose difficult. Edge says that in the end though, as he pulls off his jacket to reveal a Mets jersey, they decided to stick with the classics. Christian puts on a Boston jersey, as Edge announces, for the benefit of those with flash photography, they're calling this 5-second pose The Single Greatest Moment in the History of Boston.
So we're going with the "only two in at a time and tag in anyone" rule for this one with Albert and Jeff starting things off, Albert with a cheap shot and rights, Jeff sent off the ropes into a gorilla press, though Jess slips free and delivers some shots, off the ropes into a back drop. Another gorilla press slam attempt as Jeff lands on his feet and Albert lands on his ass, Jeff off the ropes with a dropkick to the face. Albert reverses a whip off the ropes, Jeff ducks a clothesline and slides under the ropes, runs around and leads Albert back in while tagging Matt. Albert sent off the ropes into a double elbow, Matt covers for two. Matt with some rights, then sent off the ropes and gets tripped up by Trish, ducks one clothesline from the front and gets nailed with one from the back. Test tags in, Matt sent off the ropes, launched up then back down on his chest. Matt fights back with rights, but sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline and runs right into a big boot. Test with mounted rights, then goes for the pumphandle powerslam, but Matt slips out. He goes for the Twist of Fate but Trish gets on the apron for the distraction. Lita takes her out as she drops back to the floor, while Test nails Matt with a clothesline. Test gets Lita by the hair and she nails him, allowing Matt to hit the Twist of Fate for the cover, but Albert breaks it up. Lita gets pulled in by Albert by the neck and pulled into the ring, but Matt dropkicks his legs out from under him, Lita slipping of the ring. Test with the pumphandle powerslam near the Hardy corner, as Jeff goes up top he makes the cover, Albert tries to cut him off but hits the corner chest first as Jeff hits the Swanton on Test. Jeff with a crossbody takes him and Albert out of the ring as Matt covers Test for the elimination in 3:42.
Jeff tags in and Scotty joins him, some quick back and forth that Scotty gets the better of with a flapjack, followed by a moonwalk, though that allows Christian to get the blind tag. Jeff with a drop toe hold then tags in Matt, who has some counters and a scoop slam on Christian, then a middle rope leg drop into a cover for two. Jeff back in, Christian into the corner for Poetry in Motion. Edge runs in and misses a double clothesline, and the Hardyz with the double team suplex. Jefff chokes Edge with his shirt before sending him off the ropes, though Edge slides out and lures him into an attack by Christian on the outside. Jeff is tossed back in and Edge covers for two, followed by a rear chinlock. Jeff fights up and out, off the ropes, ducks an elbow and take each other out with a double clothesline. Chrisitan in to stomp at Jeff before Matt takes him out, which distracts the ref as Lita goes up top with a hurricanrana on Edge. Jeff gets an arm over Edge but he kicks out. Christian tags in and so does Matt, who delivers clotheslines to E&C plus a sleeper slam on Christian into a cover and a near fall. Edge stomping away until Jeff takes him out, then Christian goes for the Unprettier on Matt but gets shoved off, rebounding into a Twist of Fate, covers but Edge pulls him off from under the ropes. Jeff goes up top but he's hung up up on the top rope and taken out. Matt back in tries the Twist of Fate on Edge, but he's grabbed from behind by Christian for the Unprettier for the next elimination in 7:56.
Sexay in with Edge now for some back and forth, which Sexay gets the better of with a hangman's neckbreaker. Edge face first in the corner, then Sexay to the middle rope with a missile dropkick. Scotty tags in, Too Cool off the ropes and slam Edge back followed by a double elbow. Christian tries for a double noggin knocker but gets caught, then they do the wave before Christian's taken out by a pair of rights. Scotty sent off the ropes and kicked in the back by Christian, then turns into a heel kick by Edge. Christian with the tag who stomps away and slams his head into the mat then mocks Sexay. Sexay spits in his face and gets a right in, then Scotty with some shots, Christian reverses an Irish whip into a leg sweep and a cover for two. Edge back in, Christian with a scoop slam, then he and Edge with headbutts out of the corner into a cover and a near fall. Christian back in once more and Scotty whipped into the corner but gets the feet up, then an elbow and a clothesline. Sexay makes the hot tag and in comes Edge, Sexay with rights and scoop slams. Dropkick to Edge sends him into the ropes and his arms get twisted up in them, Sexay with some rights. Christian frees Edge as Sexay comes off the ropes and through the legs, trips up Edge as Christian is gloating on the apron behind him, catapulting Edge into his own partner. Sexay rolls him up with a handful of tights but it only gets two.
Edge sent into the corner, then Christian into him, who falls down, then Edge falls and headbutts him in the nuts. Sexay with a sitout powerbomb and a cover but Christian breaks it up, Noggin knocker, Sexay off the ropes into a double flapjack. They mock Sexay and prepare for a double Worm of their own but Scott comes in and hits them with a double bulldog, sending them rolling on opposite sides of the ring, leaving only Edge for the Worm. Christian tries to sneak in and nail Sexay with one of the titles but he ducks and hits a side kick. Scotty holds up Edge as Sexay goes up top and hits the Hip Hop Drop. The ref though is busy getting Scotty back to the apron as Sexay makes the cover, which allows Christian to nail him in the back of the head with the title. Edge covers to regain the titles in 14:12. Crowd were audibly burnt at the start of this match but started to get into it as it went on, and it was a pretty good match.
Christian and Edge escape with their titles, Edge needing help standing up as Too Cool look on in anger and disbelief.
We get a plug for Fully Loaded, the next PPV, before we go to Cole with Crash backstage, who's in disbelief that Crash made it this far in the tournament. Crash takes offense to his disbelief though, says he's always been an overachiever and held that Hardcore Title for a long time until those dirty old men and their dresses and mascara makeup, and says they're gonna get theirs. He says Angle though is in big trouble.
King of the Ring Tournament Semifinal Match: Rikishi (WWF Intercontinental Champion) vs Val Venis (w/ Trish Stratus)
30 min time limit
Pre-Match: We get a recap of what happened in Kish's match with Benoit and the post-match attack as it takes forever for Kish to make his way out. Then we get a recap of Val and Kish's past confrontations that left Kish a bloody mess both times.
Kish wastes no time laying into Val with rights, then Val sent off the ropes, goes for a clothesline but gets a side kick to the chest, rolling out of the ring. Val back first into the steps, then tries to escape back to the ring, though he does kick Kish back into the barricade as he tries to pull him back out. Kish drops him right back down with a hard right though before Val goes into the steps again and they return to the ring. Kish out of the corner with a leg drop as Val retreats to the corner and Kish hits his ass attack, then Val sent off the ropes, but catches the big man with an armbar takedown on the bad arm. More boots to the arm, then an arm wringer and more shots in the corner, dropping Kish down for more boots. Val slams Kish's arm into the wring post, then across the apron. Kish face first in the corner, then they trade shots, Val reverses an Irish whip into a DDT. Val up top but he's caught in a belly to belly slam into a cover and the win in 3:17. Rather anti-climactic.
Trish enters the ring and jumps on Kish's back but is quickly thrown down to the mat. Kish drags her over to the corner, though doesn't go for a Stinkface, attempts a Banzai Drop but he's low blowed before he can connect by Val. Val throws him back down to the mat before he leaves the ring and throws the steps in and rams them into Kish's injured shoulder. Trish gets him a chair as Kish rests his arm on the steps and Val crashes chair across it. Val and Trish head to the back as we go to the replays. You'd think they were building Kish to be the winner of the tournament with all this, but that's not the case.
Over to Coach who's with Brisco, who thinks he must have mixed emotions, with a chance to win back the Hardcore Title, but also has to do it in drag, all while chuckling. Brisco doesn't like how he finds it funny, and says the only emotion he has right now is revenge. Coach answers the question I was about to ask and points out that revenge isn't an emotion, but Brisco tells him to shut up, and says Patterson stole his title under the guise of friendship, guaranteeing Patterson will find out Brisco's all man. There's a knock on his door and a backstage crew member brings in Brisco's dress and pumps, asking if he wants regular or crotchless panties. Brisco snatches the outfit and leaves.
A plug for the WWF.com relaunch the next day before the next match.
King of the Ring Tournament Semifinal Match: Crash Holly vs Kurt Angle
30 min time limit
Some quick chain wrestling to start to the surprise of Angle, then some back and forth, with Crash coming off the ropes into a cradle by Angle for two. Angle misses a running clothesline and gets caught with a snap powerslam by Crash for two. Angle sent off the ropes after some forearms, but blocks a hip toss and delivers an arm-trap suplex. Angle with boots to Crash and choking him in the corner with his boot, plus a knee to the face. More rights as he pulls Crash to his feet, whipping him across the ring for a corner clothesline. Angle with a suplex into a cover and a kick out, followed by a rear chinlock. Crash fights back up and out, off the ropes right into a knee to the ribs by Angle. More boots by Angle, then Crash face first in the corner for rights, then Crash with some before Angle rakes the eyes. Kurt with more shots in the corner, then Crash with boots in the corner. Angle sent off the ropes into a back elbow, then sent off them again into a back drop. Angle sent chest first into the corner and a clothesline to the back by Crash before he goes up top with a missile dropkick and a pin for two. Crash off the ropes and sent throat first into the top rope, then the Angle Slam for three in 3:58. That was a damn fine match.
Angle heads to the back celebrating as we see the updated brackets, with Kish vs Angle set for the finals. Then some footage from the MSG live event the night before, where Trump was in attendance. We got Taker chokeslamming HHH, Too Cool dancing and King calling out Trump, He has the same mannerisms them as he does now. King saying the smartest thing he's ever said that Trump shouldn't run for president, only to say something dumb that he should be King of New York.
Cole is somewhere backstage with Kane for his thoughts on his match tonight. He says Rock and his brother need to understand that it's always been about him becoming WWF Champion and nothing else. Kane leaves.
Right over to Coach who's with Taker for his response to what Kane just said. He says that it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out Kane wants the title, and jokingly says Kane's sure no brain surgeon, the most coveted prize in the game, but only one man can wear that title and he didn't come to Boston to lose. Then he leaves.
We actually have a hype package for the Harcdcore Title match. We know Brisco won the title right before Judgement Day pinning a sleeping Crash, and Crash spent a few weeks chasing it, winning it, and getting Shaft to protect him. He lost it this past Monday on Raw to Brisco and advancing in the tournament in the process, but Patterson would win it with a sneak attack disguised as a celebration in the locker room. Patterson would spend the following Smackdown hiding out in the women's locker room in drag, and Brisco would get in drag to attack, which led to Vince making this match.
First Ever (and only) Hardcore Evening Gown Match for the WWF Hardcore Championship: Pat Patterson (c) vs Gerald Brisco
Pre-Match: I don't know why I even care, but how exactly are you supposed to win this match? Like, is it an Evening Gown Match under Hardcore rules? Or is it a Hardcore Match in evening gowns? They're too completely different things, not that it will matter in the end anyways, but this is never really explained. Brisco comes out with a 2x4 to Real American.
Patterson out with a shopping cart full of linen to some cheesy music.
Patterson asks for a mic before the match, only to then lock lips with Fink. Poor guy. He gets on the mic and says Brisco looks like an old drag queen, then tries to get him to calm down a bit. He says that every time Brisco defended his title Pat was always at his side, then asks if he's his friend or not. He says the people want to see them go at it real bad, but Pat's got a better idea, if Gerald really wants the belt that bad Pat is willing to show just what a friend he is, offering to lay down, let Gerald get on top, Chioda will count the three, and he'll give Brisco the title as the good friend that he is. Brisco likes the sound of it and they embrace, only for Patterson to nail a low blow and get this "match" started.
Patterson spanks him and knees him and drops him in the corner, then pulls out a banana from somewhere to shove it in Brisco's face. Then pulls out something and stomps Brisco in the corner. Patterson pulls up his dress and takes out a Maxipad to shove it in Brisco's face. Then he pulls up the dress for a Stinkface but Brisco with the low blow, then a shoe to the back of the head. Brisco with rights and blows and this crowd is already turning on this. Patterson puts on Brisco's wig, then whopped into the corner and dropped down for a Bronco Buster by Brisco. Brisco's dress is partially removed, and J.R. seems to imply that that is how you win this match as Brisco gets some shots in. Patterson's dress is ripped open and they're actually wearing bra and panties as Brisco mounts in the corner. Thank fuck Crash is out here with another ref and a trash can, pulls down Brisco and boots to Patterson in the corner. Brisco tries to use the trash can but gets knocked down and Crash rips away his dress, then nails Patterson with the trash can, covers and finally ends this in 2:48. Thank fuck it was short.
Crowd popped so loud as Crash runs off with his title as the crowd could not be more relieved. Patterson heads to the back holding his head and Brisco tackles from behind and they roll around and refs pull them apart.
To the Dudleyz in the back, D-Von tells Bubba to forget about King of the Ring, because vengeance is theirs, because DX along with Tori will know why thou shall not mess with the Dudleyz. We see they have a table with Tori spray painted over it as Bubba tells him not to worry and they carry it out to the ring. Then we get a hype package where it starts from Judgement Day, when Tori put Bubba through a table on multiple occasions in the build to this show. DX got the upperhand may times, shoving them off the stage in a dumpster and more attacks by DX. After they cost X-Pac his tournament match, Vince made this match at their request for their own chance at revenge.
Handicap Tables Dumpster Match: Road Dogg, X-Pac & Tori vs The Dudley Boyz
DX and Tori must put both Dudleyz in the dumpster at ringside and close the lid to win the match. The Dudleyz must put all three opponents through a table to win the match.
Pre-Match: Dudleyz lay their table for Tori in the aisle way as they rush the ring and DX quickly retreat to ringside. Tables laid out all over ringside
For some reason we have tags in this match as Bubba and Roadie start out. Bubba immediately goes after Tori and he's nailed by behind by Roadie, then face first in the corner. Roadie with rights, then Bubba reverses a whip across the ring and misses splash, but hits a side kick and a clothesline from the middle rope. D-Von tags in with some rights, Roadie sent off the ropes into a spinning back elbow. Roadie thumbs the eye and Pac comes in with an arm wringer, but D-Von fights out and we get some quick back and forth, D-Von getting the upperhand with a clothesline. X-Pac sent off the ropes and ducks a clothesline, D-Von tries to come off them but gets kneed by Roadie, knocks him down and turns into a spinning heel kick by X-Pac. D-Von is sent through the ropes and face first into the lid of the dumpster, X-Pac stomping away and bouncing his head off the lid, then Tori with a kick to the ribs. Tori tags in with some kicks to the ribs in the corner and tags in Roadie. More shots in the corner, then D-Von fights out, only to be sent back in the corner. D-Von sent off the ropes, ducks a double clothesline and hits one of his own. Bubba tags in and clotheslines for DX, and a Bubba Bomb on Roadie. Bubba sends X-Pac off the ropes into a sidewalk slam. Scoop slam on Roadie and D-Von goes up top with the diving headbutt between the legs, then for X-Pac. Tori comes in and tries for a low blow but she's caught and scoop slammed, D-Von with the diving headbutt between the legs now.
Dudleyz head to ringside as DX try to leave, X-Pac and Roadie whipped into each other in the aisle, but whip the Dudleyz into the dumpster. D-Von face first into it, then a second time and Bubba too by Roadie. DX open the dumpster and dump the Dudleyz in and shut the lid, but the referee is busy tending to Tori on the other side on the floor, so the match continues. There are some convenient doors in the sides of the dumpsters for the Dudleyz to escape and they head under the ring. The referee comes over to check inside and realize they're gone, as they come out the other side with chairs in hand, cracking them over the head. Bubba calls for tables, they toss the steps in while stacking two tables on top of each other at ringside. Bubba sets the stairs in front of the tables and picks Roadie up on his shoulders powerbombing him through the tables. God I love that spot. Back in the ring, X-Pac got Bubba with a suplex, then a spinning heel kick on D-Von as he comes in with a table. X-Pac sets up the table near the corner and lays D-Von on top, X-Pac goes up top but Bubba crotches him, allowing D-Von to put him through the table with a superplex. Bubba has his eyes on Tori now who's scared for her life and she tries to escape but the Dudleyz corner her, and escapes to the dumpster for some reason. Dudleyz open it up, but then DX nail them in the head with chairs and knock them inside, close the lids and DX wins in 9:46.
Roadie and X-Pac no sell everything and can't figure out that Tori is still in the dumpster and they head to the back. Dudleyz have her back in the ring as they leave the dumpster and DX look on from the aisle. X-Pac tries to make the save but he gets a 3D for his troubles. Roadie tries to make the save but he gets a 3D too. Bubba corners Tori and almost sticks his tongue down her throat but he doesn't, as D-Von slides in the Tori table. Bubba gets to the middle rope as D-Von lifts her up and powerbombs her through the table. Dudleyz' music hits as Bubba gets in that trance and they have their own celebration as D-Von snaps him out of it. We get the replays and the Dudleyz head to the back.
Cole is backstage with Angle, the finals just moments away, as Cole calls it possibly the biggest win of his career. Angle tells him he has no idea what this tournament means, and what it's done for winners of the past, the most important tournament of the world, and that's why he's going to win it, it's why he has to win it. He admits Rikishi's great, that is if you like dancing and rubbing your butt in people's faces, but insists he'll win it, and when he does he's going to beat HHH for the title. He tells Kish the party is over, and that is true.
Replays of what Val did to Kish earlier after their match. Then to Coach who's with Kish, who has his arm heavily taped up, for a response to what Angle just said. Kish makes a valid point that he wouldn't go through all this if King of the Ring wasn't important to him, and calls Kurt "Captain America," saying he doesn't realize that all the Wheaties in the world isn't going to stop his ass from backing up. Then he leaves.
King of the Ring Tournament Finals: Kurt Angle vs Rikishi (WWF Intercontinental Champion)
One fall to a finish.
Angle tries to get him in the aisle but Kish gets him with some rights before getting in the ring to properly start this match. More rights by Kish until Angle rakes the eyes, tries to pick him up but gets scoop slammed himself. Angle sent into the corner for a clothesline, then another in the opposite corner drops Angle to the mat in prime position for the Stinkface but Angle gets a blow in a clothesline to escape. Rights by Angle now in the corner drop Kish down and choking him with his boot, stomping away to the outside. Kish is sent into the steps, the bad arm hitting them first before returning to the ring. More shots by Angle in the corner, then Kish whipped across the ring for a clothesline to the chest. Trading shots now until Kish is backed into the corner again with more rights, only to be sent across the ring, then back across into a clothesline with the bad arm, then a one-armed Samoan drop. Kish with a cutter into a pin and a kick out at one. Angle ass slammed in the corner drops him down to the mat a second time and Kish gives him a successful Stinkface this time. Angle though gets him up for the Angle Slam and a cover but only gets two. Angle back on the attack, off the ropes, tries for a sunset flip but Kish drops onto his chest for a pin attempt and a near fall. Kish goes up top oddly enough but Kurt crotches him followed by more rights and forearms to the shoulder, before a superbelly to belly overhead suplex and the cover for the win in 5:58. This one took a good while to get going, picked up in the last few minutes, Angle looked good, Angle looked good, right man won. Not much else to say here.
Angle with the celebrating and the emotion as he heads to the back, Kish clutching at the arm as he recovers in the ring, with the coronation set for the next night's Raw as we go to replays.
To the back for some last minute preparing by the McMahons and HHH voices his displeasure for "Joe Cool," but Vince insists they haven't been backed into a corner. Shane tries to keep them focused before they head out.
We see Kane walking backstage, then Taker sat on his bike elsewhere, then Rock walking elsewhere. Then a plug for USA Today before our main event.
Six-Man Tag Team Match for the WWF Championship: Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon & Triple H (c) (w/ WWF Women's Champion Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley) vs The Rock, Kane & The Undertaker
If Rock, Kane or Taker get the deciding pin over any of their three opponents, they alone become WWF Champion. Triple H retains if he, Vince or Shane get the deciding pin, and will defend the title against Kurt Angle at Fully Loaded. Vince has declared no interference for this match.
There's some arguing among the McMahons on who will start the match, and I guess Shane decides he will, getting a cheap shot on Kane from behind that barely fazes him, cornering Shane. Kane backs up and tells Shane to get in his best shot, even putting his hands behind his back, and Shane delivers and barely fazes Kane once more. Shane ducks a shot and gets some more in until he's blocked and Kane twists his arm, bringing Shane to his knees before choking him off the mat with two hands. Shane tries to escape but gets thrown into the corner, then again, but slips through the legs and retreats across the ring and out of the ring. Taker throws him back in, Shane sent off the ropes, ducks a big boot, flips over Kane onto his feet and off the ropes again right into a clothesline. Military press by Kane who already calls for a chokeslam, then Vince comes in and nails him from behind, only for Kane to grab him by the throat too, but he's nailed by HHH in the back of the head. Kane sent off the ropes but hits a double clothesline on father and son.
Rock tags himself in and delivers rights to both McMahons, HHH tries to attack from behind but he's caught by Rock before he can get close. Rock calls on him to bring it and HHH lures him in, allowing Shane with a clothesline to the back and HHH with one from the front. Shane with shoulders in the corner to the midsection, then some shots, and mocks Rock's big right hand. Rock switches things around with some of his own, Shanesent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline but gets sent over the ropes to the floor. Taker tags himself in and lays Shane out with a right on the floor before tossing him back in, then face first in the corner. Taker with elbows and rights to the body and face, then Shane whipped across the ring chest first and right back to Taker for a chokeslam. Taker with the cover but Rock pulls him off. HHH tags in in with cheap shots on Taker as he argues with Rock and shots in the corner. He argues with Hebner and Taker throws him into the corner for more shots, then whipped across the ring into a back body drop. Taker with a clothesline in the corner, HHH sent off the ropes into a big boot and a cover for two. HHH reverses a whip off the ropes and Taker catches him with a DDT, covers but Kane breaks it up this time.
Kane and Taker in each other's faces allows Rock to tag himself in and HHH tags in a reluctant Shane. Hebner yells at Shane to get in and Rock yanks him in instead. A right for Shane, then Vince, then HHH before Shane reverses a whip off the ropes into a waiting HHH, who pulls down the top rope and sends Rock tumbling over into the announce table. HHH with rights and Shane and Vince join in ion the beatdown until Kane and Taker come to the rescue, HHH returning to the ring. Taker with Shane and Kane with Vince, HHH face first off the announce table repeatedly and Rock takes apart the other table which allows HHH to lay him out. Back in the ring, Rock sent off the ropes and hits a swinging neckbreaker, but misses a clothesline. HHH delivers a Pedigree, covers... I'm fairly certain Taker was supposed to break that up, because J.R. says he made sure there was no three, even though Rock clearly just kicked out of it and Taker lumbered slowly over to the ring and did nothing.
HHH pulled out by Taker who delivers some shots, HHH goes face first into the ring post before being tossed back in, with Vince and Shane just coming to at ringside.
Kane and Taker both want a tag but Rock hesitates and allows HHH to hit a clothesline. HHH with boots in his corner and choking Rock with his boot, then Vince chokes him and Shane tags in. Boots in the corner of his to the face and chest, Rock sent off the ropes with a spinning back elbow. Rope-a-dope punches by Shane now, but Rock blocks one and tries to come off the ropes but gets nailed in the head by HHH. Rock takes a swing but he gets hung up on the top rope and Shane hits a clothesline. Vince with the tag now and Shane holds up Rock for some taunting and a right by Vince. HHH back in with a suplex and a knee drop out of the corner for a cover and a kick out at two. HHH goes up top but gets nailed with a right to the ribs. Rock sent off the ropes and tries to counter but caught with a neckbreaker, HHH covers but Kane breaks it up. Vince back in with another shot to Rock as HHH holds up Rock. Rock with rights to all three but as the ref is dealing with Kane and Taker, Vince gets the chance to hit a low blow, then covers for two. HHH in again with more rights, and Rock fights back with some of his own. HHH reverses an Irish whip but gets caught with a Samoan drop and a cover but Shane breaks it up.
Taker tosses Shane over the ropes to the floor and Kane drops Vince with a right as the McMahons are manhandled at ringside. Back in the ring, HHH sent off the ropes and caught with a facebuster off the knee, now Kane and Taker are fighting and Taker goes face first off the steps. HHH runs right into a spinebuster and Rock goes for the People's Elbow, but Kane slides in before he can connect for the chokeslam. HHH comes to and smiling, thinking Kane is on their side, but HHH gets a tombstone instead. Kane makes the cover but Taker pulls him off just in time. Taker sends Kane into the steps before taking apart the Spanish announce table, then a chair to Kane's head. Shane is up top as Taker scrambles his way to the apron to chokeslam Shane through the announce table. Fucking hell that spot is insane. Back in the ring, Vince goes for the People's Elbow but Rock pops up to hit the Rock Bottom and win the match and the title in 17:56. That match was slow going for a bit, but honestly it was a hell of a fun ride for the most part. God damn Shane though.
HHH looks on in disbelief and anger at ringside as Rock celebrates with the title, heading to the back pissed and pulling out his hair on the way. Rock looks on before Rock poses with the title in the corner, and Taker rides his bike off to the back, telling Rock he owes him one before he leaves. We go to replays before Rock nails Vince with the title, foot on his chest and more celebrating as the show fades out.
FINAL THOUGHTS
There was very little to complain about on this show. I'm gonna try and get the picture of Brisco in drag out of my head, but I think that's scarred me for life. The tournament produced some great matches for the most part, had a good tag title match, and the main event while not perfect was a fun, chaotic ride, and you can't go wrong with Shane nearly killing himself. With a run time of 2:39:55, there was a total 1:23:24 of wrestling.
