WCW Week of June 5, 2000 - Go-Home to the Bash
Nitro
The show starts with a recap of Tank beating people up to get to Goldberg the last couple months, along with Goldberg's return the challenge he made last week. Then we see footage from earlier in the day, when Rick and Tank arrived, then to the opening pyro, live from the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. There's a cage hanging above the ring as Tenay welcomes us to the show.
Bischoff's music hits and he comes alongside Russo, and R&B security behind them. Bischoff does his usual sarcastic shtick of how he loves the fans and knows they feel the same. Bischoff starts running down what's happened as of late, bringing up out Luger's out, who's at home nursing his face, while Liz is too afraid to even come out of her room. But now he moves onto tonight: Steiner will face Vampiro. Nash will run the New Blood Gauntlet with his shot at the World Title at risk if he loses, and if any of his Millionaire maggots interfere, Nash will lose his title shot. To confirm his commitment to a level playing field though, he announces that Jarrett will face Sting.
Russo gets on the mic now and says he was forced to leave New York 8 months ago and move to Atlanta to work for WCW, and it's been the worst 8 months of his life. He says he's constantly surrounded by a sea of... horneckers? Caption says "hohneckers". I don't know, just like the people in the crowd. He has a shoutout, or a challenge, call it what you will, and calls out John Rocker, and says if he wants to dog New York, whenever he wants to go one on one with Russo, he'll jack him higher than his ERA. Speaking of going high, he turns his attention to the cage above the ring and calls out Ric, and since he wants to go to Space Mountain, that's where they're going tonight. He says he's going to take Flair to the top of the cage and dropping him on his pathetic, bleach-blond head. He says Ric's not going to have a brain aneurysm this time, he's going to have brain damage.
Eric back on the mic now and calls Russo a genius, and an inspiration to him, and because of the commitment Russo is now making to the New Blood, to WCW and all the fans, who he knows Russo loves so much, he's going to follow in Russo's lead, and vows to find a way to take the Hardcore Title off of Fnnk, in fact he says he'll do it himself or die trying. One last thing though, he turns his attention to Goldberg, he says they've been friends a long time, and he's never had anything against Goldberg personally, they've always been relatively close, but last week, whether it was wrong place wrong time, break down in communication, or whatever you wanna call it, he stepped into it and screwed up their plans to take Nash out, but Eric is willing to forgive and forget, as long as Goldberg is willing to take care of his business with Tank, just as we see Goldberg walking backstage, pack his bags and go back to wherever he lives. He says if tonight is the night he decides to make the save for anyone, particularly Nash, he will suspend Goldberg.
Russo takes the mic back and wants to say something to Goldberg, and Bischoff is trying to stop him but Russo's having none of it. He thinks Eric is being a bit too nice, he says he doesn't know him and that Goldberg doesn't want to know him because he's never messed with a New Yorker before. He says if Goldberg shows his face around there tonight, he will personally get up in him, because he's got two words for him: Spear this, baby... that's three, then he gives a crotch chop.
Now Goldberg's music hits and out he comes, and security rush into the ring as R&B slide out. Clotheslines, super kicks, spear, clothesline over the ropes, another spear and jackhammer. More security rush down and just to check on the previous guys, then Goldberg's music and he poses in the corners into commercial.
We get a replay of Goldberg taking out security, then we go to Russo freaking out on Russo in their office, and Cat is there too, and has told Russo a hundred time he knows how to handle him. Russo just keeps apologizing and now in walks Jarrett, who's upset at having to compete when he has to defend the title in 6 days. Eric tells him he's a pro and to go be a pro and sends him away.
More arguing and Cat puts in his two cents and Russo tells him to shut up, just as Kidman and Torrie walk in. He says this thing with Horace is out of control, and wants a match tonight with him and Hulk, and Eric has had enough and just tells him to do whatever he needs to do, and Torrie gets upset for some reason and walks out.
We see Bill Elliot of NASCAR in the front row before we get to a title match.
WCW World Tag Team Championship: "Perfectshawn" & "The Event" (c) vs Kronic
Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts: Those are the names on the graphic for Stasiak and Palumbo respectively, I don't know why it just looks and sounds stupid. We see a replay of Stasiak and Palumbo winning the titles last week on Thunder.
Fighting immediately as Kronic enter the ring until Stasiak is tossed out by Adams onto the ramp. Clark with cjops in the corner on Palumbo and a clothesline from the middle rope, covers and a kick out, while Stasiak hits an inverted atomic drop on Adams before going back to the ring. Stasiak and Palumbo with rights on Clark, sends him off the ropes, he ducks a double clothesline, then Adams dives over the ropes with a shoulder block into Stasiak. Stasiak sent to the ousdie, Clark with a pumphandle powerslam on Palumbo before knocking Stasiak off the apron as he climbs up, then Adams tosses Palumbo to the outside with him.
Clark comes off the apron with... something that we don't see because the camera cuts to Cat as he makes his way out. Stasiak is rolled back in and Adams joins him, but Stasiak is on the attack, while Clark goes after Palumbo at ringside. Adams sent off the ropres, ducks a clothesline and hits a full nelson slam, covers but Palumbo breaks it up.
Adams sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline, goes for a powerbomb but Palumbo cuts him off with a standing side kick to the chest. Palumbo with rights now and tags Stasiak back in, Adams sent of the ropes, kicked in the gut, Stasiak off the ropes with a swinging neckbreaker. Palumbo gets the tag, Stasiak holds up Adams as Palumbo goes up top and hits the flying shoulder block, covers but Clark pulls him off. Palumbo with more rights and Stasiak's back in with some rights, Adams sent off the ropes into a back elbow. Stasiak goes up top with a crossbody, cover and a kick out.
Adams reverses a whip off the ropes and catches a backbreaker. Clark tags in and delivers clotheslines on Palumbo and Stasiak. Uranagi on Stasiak and Palumbo sent to the outside, and Cat gets in the ring with a mic. He's telling the ref to do something as Palumbo is tossed into the crowd and Clark follows. Stasiak is press slammed face first into the steel steps. Cat is forcing the ref to count them out as the fight continues, and this takes forever, but eventually Adams rolls Stasiak in and Cat says Adams is too late and calls for the bell. He announces Stasiak and Palumbo the winners by countout in 6:04. This actually wasn't a bad match until this finish that made no sense.
Clark comes back and Cat tells them not to even think about attacking him, saying his best friend Bischoff will kick their ass out in front of all the rednecks in the crowd. They don't listen and try to deliver High Time but Palumbo returns and Stasiak joins him for the save. Palumbo is thrown onto the ramp and Stasiak is caught fo ran F5 from Adams.
Cut to Torrie in the locker room and Kidman walks in asking what the hell she thinks she's doing, telling her she can't just walk out like that, and made him look like an idiot in front of the boss, saying he's his right hand man and Torrie won't mess with his career. In walks Major Guns who tells him to calm down and not to treat Torrie like that, then he calls her a dumb bitch and tells her to mind her own business, then kicks her out. Kidman tells Torrie to stay in there, and when he's done with his match, he's coming back to finish this, then he walks off.
We see Steiner and his freaks along with Nash arriving at the arena. Up walks Pamela who informs Nash of his Gauntlet tonight. Nash asks her if Goldberg is there yet, she nods, and he asks if that means he's the last one there, and she says yes. Nash says his gimmick's alive since he's the last in the building and Steiner pumps his fist to that as it goes to commercial. What did that have to do with anything?
Cut to the MIA locker room sans Major Guns and G.I. Bro (sigh), to which Rection asks where she is, but no one knows. She walks in crying though a moment later and tells them what happened with Kidman, then Bro (sigh) walks in and tells her to cut the crying crap. He tells them that tonight's mission is to find Kidman and kick his ass. Then he leaves.
Nash is now in his locker room with Goldberg and tells him to do what he's gotta do. Steiner walks in and says Tank's been talking trash for two months and tells Goldberg to kick his ass before they bump fists. Nash says he owes him one and he and Steiner leave.
Now G.I. Bro (sigh) and MIA come out. Booker gets the mic and says since Kidman wants to run around and boss around women, he tells him to get his scrawny little ass out there so he can show Kidman how to treat a woman. Out he comes with the Filthy Animals and says if it's a war Bro wants, it's a war he's got.
G.I. Bro (w/ Lt. Loco, Cpl. Cajun, Major Stash, Cpt. Rection & Major Guns) vs Billy Kidman (w/ Konnan, Disco Inferno & Juventud Guerrera)
Kidman tries to get on the offense right away but gets caught with a right, sent off the ropes, ducks an elbow, some back and forth countering until Booker nails a side kick. Disco knocked off the apron which allows Kidman to rake the eyes, then a bulldog out of the corner. Booker reverses a whip and launches Kidman up and down, then delivers the scissors kick and follows with a spinaroonie. Kidman face first in the corner for corner punches, then his legs are draped over the middle rope. Booker calls Guns into the ring but Torrie is out now, who low blows Kidman instead and leaves. Book End for the win in 1:54.
Disco slides in with a chair immediately and gets Booker in the face with it, then MIA and the Animals rush the ring. Kidman nails everyone with the chair and the Animals stand tall.
Still to come, Tank vs Goldberg at the top of the hour. Up next though, Bischoff and Cat are on their way to the ring with trash can and chair in hand respectively.
WCW Hardcore Championship: Terry Funk (c) vs Eric Bischoff (w/ The Cat)
Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts: We get brief clips of Funk winning the title back at Spring Stampede, then winning it back in a gorilla costume 2 weeks ago, then from his match with Vamp last week and the one with Candido at the ranch. Funk has a chair of his own as he comes out.
Cat immediately with the Feliner on Funk, then a chair shot to the head. Bischoff starts swinging around some nunchucks and Funk grabs the trash can, nailing Cat in the head with it. Funk uses it to block nunchuck shots from Bischoff, then nails Bischoff in the head with it. Cat pulls Bischoff away before Funk can go for the cover. They try to retreat and Funk tries to throw the trash can at them but misses, then follows as he throws it again heading to the back.
Now all of a sudden Ms. Hancock comes out instead of following the match to the back for... some reason, and she does her tease routine like last week. Kimberly and Mike Awesome comes out now. She thinks Hancock is trying to steal her spotlight and says it's very rude and is doing a very poor job of it. She says Hancock obviously doesn't know what it takes to be a star or a real entertainer, and everyone in attendance came to see her. She suggests Hancock take her lanky legs and step off, and let her show her how a real professional star does her job. She also says Hancock's secretary stripper look went out in 1993. She takes Hancock's clipboard and when she goes to leave Kimberly nails her in the back with it. She and Awesome leave, but Hancock gets a mic and suggests Kimberly get her fat ass in the ring right now. Kimberly takes offense to the fat ass comment and calls her a geeky little wench, and says she's going to give Hancock a fat lip... later. They keep walking to the back and Hancock soon follows.
While this is finishing up, Funk and Bischoff make their way back out with Funk on the offensive, delivering rights and puts Bischoff in a wheelbarrow, wheeling Eric down to the ring. Cat runs back down too but Funk takes him out with a clothesline. Funk lays a chair down and delivers a DDT onto it. Russo now is seen sending the Mamalukes out there to do something. Funk gets on the mic and tells Eric he's going to show him his wrinkled ass and give him a bird's eye view. So Funk drags Eric into the corner in a seated position and pulls his trunks down slightly, but the Mamalukes come out before he can make good on that. Funk tries to fight them off but they easily double team him. Scoop slam on Funk by Johnny the Bull, then he lays a chair on Funk's head as Vito goes to the middle rope and drops an elbow onto the chair. Then the lay a trash can over Funk's nuts and Vito has some kind of stick, and nails the lid with it. More shots in the corner by Johnny, then Vito hits an impaler DDT. Eric is pulled on top and actually wins the title in... well bell to bell this match lasted 8:31, but at least 5 of those minutes were spent with Hancock and Kimberly. What an absolute shitfest.
Cat continues the beatdown as Eric poses barely aware of what's going on.
Still to come, we see Goldberg taping his hands for his upcoming match, but up next Steiner is on his way to the ring for his match with Vampiro.
A limo pulls up outside the arena and out steps Ric, Beth and Reid before we get to the match. So Steiner comes out first and of course he takes the mic. He says he and his freaks came in town a little early because they heard Hotlanta loved to party. So they went down to a club called Tiny Groove, and this freak comes up to him says she's been looking for love in all the wrong places, plus a hell of a lot of things to say to him, so he looked her in the eyes and said he might not know how to love her, but he damn sure know how to touch her, and suggested she quit lusting it and let him bust it. So he took her back to his place and gave her a feeling that he knew she hit the ceiling and called him the Big Bad Booty Daddy. Vamp comes out with gas can and blow torch in hand.
WCW U.S. Heavyweight Championship: Scott Steiner (c) vs Vampiro
Brief lock up to start, but Steiner quickly knees him in the gut and shoves him into the corner. Repeated boots and rights and chops, before Vamp reverses a whip off the ropes, but Steiner ducks a spinning heel kick. Side suplex on Vamp, then a press slam. Vamp whipped into the corner but gets a boot up, then delivers some rights on a grounded Steiner. Kicks to the leg and chest, then a roundhouse to the chest. Steiner reverses a whip off the ropes and hits a clothesline, then an elbow before tossing Vamp to the outside.
Vamp whipped into the guard rail, then face first off the steps, then into the guard rail again. Steiner with a chair to the back and back of the head, then the back again by the announce table. Scoop slam through the table, but Vamp fights back with a boot and rights. Steiner whipped into the guard rail, then a chair to the head of Steiner. Standing side kick to the chest, but then Steiner sends him into the ring post before returning to the ring.
Vamp lifted to the top rope and Steiner goes for a belly to belly but Vamp headbutts him off, then goes up top with a spin kick. Vamp grabs the blow torch and tries to nail Steiner in the head but he ducks, then tries to lift Vamp but he slips out and nails Steiner on the second try. Meanwhile Midajah, one of Steiner's girls, has gone to the top rope and hits a decent crossbody on Vamp, who just no sells it and goes after him with the gas and blow torch, spilling the gas along the ramp as she crawls away in fear. He steps on her back and starts to poor the gas on the ramp until Sting comes out and hits him in the back of the head with the bat, then the ribs and back repeatedly sends him back into the ring. Steiner with the belly to belly overhead, then applies the Recliner and retains in 5:10. Not a terrible match.
Steiner doesn't release it immediately and keeps going until Vamp passes out, then applies it again.Security run down but Sting and Steiner lay them all out as Vamp escapes. Steiner and Sting pose i the corners.
Up next, the return to the ring of Goldberg as he faces Tank.
Tank Abbott vs Goldberg
Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts: God damn this crowd is loud for Goldberg,.
Tank slips out of the ring right as the bell rings and there's a loud Goldberg chant right away as he ducks a right hand and delivers a standing side kick. Ducks another shot and delivers something like a jackhammer. Goldberg lines up for the spear in the corner, but Rick comes down and nails him in the back with a chair, then to the head drops him to the mat. Double teaming Goldberg now, Tank plants his foot on Goldberg's chest to pin but he kicks out.
More double teaming until Nash's music hits and out he comes through the crowd. Goldberg sent off the ropes, ducks a double clothesline, Rick is pulled out by Nash and Goldberg nails Tank with a spear. Goldberg delivers the jackhammer for the win in 2:16. Did we really need the bullshit with Nash and Rick?
Goldberg got busted by the chair on the top of his head an we go to replays of the finish. Goldberg heads to the back into commercial.
Nash is enjoying a beer it looks like as he fist bumps Goldberg in the trainer's room, then he gets his head stitched up.
Now Pamela is standing by with Kimberly and Mike Awesome, and Kimberly completely ignores her comment as she takes the mic. She gets her name and says she'll forgive her since she's new, introduces herself, and tells her she should know it's very important that the show is all about her. As far as Hancock is concerned, she says she needs to find herself a gawky teenager to back her up for a mixed tag match. She tells Pamela that she knows the name of some great boutiques that could help her with her wardrobe, then they leave.
WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Jeff Jarrett (c) vs Sting
Jeff on the offensive right away with rights, but gets sent off the ropes ducks a clothesline then dropped throat first on the top rope. Jarret whipped into the corner and avoid a Stinger Splash, but then Sting delivers a couple of clotheslines. Jarrett reverses a whip off the ropes and leaps up, only to be powerbombed. Sting goes for the Scorpion Deathlock but Jarrett shoves him off, sending through the ropes onto the ramp.
Jarrett gets a chair from ringside before getting up on the ramp with Sting, into his midsection twice then over the head. Chair into the ribs some more... repeatedly... over and over. Sting clotheslines him back into the ring, then goes for a sunset flip but Jarrett hangs onto the ropes, but then the ref kicks them to make him let go? I saw this happen on a TNA PPV too, is this a common thing? Jarrett wasn't doing anything illegal. But Jarrett manages to hold himself up and delivers a right to stop Sting's momentum, only for Sting to pop back up and complete the flip and... Wait, Sting wins in 2:26?
Crowd loses it as Sting celebrates, and Jarrett can't believe what's going on... Oh, here's Bischoff now. He tells Sting that before he gets all excited, he never said this was a title match, so Sting didn't win the title. He congratulates him on the victory, but no cigar for him. Sting gets a mic and says that's too bad for Jarrett, because he's going to show up at the Bash in a body bag, meanwhile Jarrett is posing like he won in the corner behind Sting. Sting ducks a belt shot and boots Jarrett, then knocks him to the outside. Jarrett knocked through the table with a right and it just falls apart, then Jarrett is sent into the guard rail. Back up on the ramp, Sting applies the Scorpion Deathlock, then takes the guitar as Jarrett tries to retreat, but gets it smashed over his head and he falls off the ramp. Sting scares Bischoff to the back as Sting's music hits and plays to the crowd into commercial.
We get a replay of the finish and the post-match attack and Jarrett was loaded onto a stretcher during the break and into an ambulance, Bischoff yelling to make sure Jarrett is taken care of.
Now Mike Awesome comes out and takes the mic. He asks Page if he hears the clock winding down on his career, with 6 days left and counting. He tells him not to worry and to be positive, because although Page will be in traction after the Bash, he hears the nurses give great sponge baths. Then he introduces the everyone came to see, the fans like her, love her, and want to be just like her, Kimberly. So out she comes out.
Ms. Hancock is next out with a mic in hand and the same secretary attire. She agrees to fight under one condition, saying that since Kimberly's looks and body are her biggest assets, she's typed up a release, attached to her clipboard, so that if she messes up Kimberly's pretty little face she won't be held legally responsible. Kimberly has no problem signing it and just laughs at the idea of Hancock messing her up, and Hancock introduces her totally not obvious partner, though as Madden and Kimberly point out, she has a restraining order on Page. Page takes the mic and the clipboard and points out that she actually just signed her rights away
Mike Awesome & Kimberly vs Diamond Dallas Page & Ms. Hancock
Well the ladies start this match and Hancock immediately goes after Kimberly, but she gets in the ropes and the ref forces them to separate. Then Page spanks Kimberly. Kimberly shows off to the crowd to boos, then picks the mic back up and calls that reaction pathetic. Now Hancock moves her out of the way and starts to do her thing until Kimberly shoves her from behind. Then Hancock rips the M from the "Me" printed on Kimberly's top, then Kimberly rips open her jacket. Kimberly is backed towards Page and tries to slap him but he blocks, then Hancock grabs her by the hair and delivers a snapmare, then another. Hancock slides out and pulls Kimberly towards the ring post but then Awesome stops her, then she slaps him. Hancock retreats back into the ring and tags in Page.
Page with a springboard clotheslines and some rights and a discus lariat. Awesome reverses a whip off the ropes, then Page goes for a sunset flip but Awesome delivers a right to stop his momentum, then drops down for a cover, then Page swings his legs up and flips Awesome back to the mat for a near fall. Awesome ducks a clothesline, but turns around right into another, Page covers for another near fall. Page goes for the Diamond Cutter, then Awesome counters into a backslide attempt, but when Page blocks it he hits a low blow instead. Awesome with a German suplex, then rights in the corner and a running clothesline, before choking Page with his boot.
Awesome wastes time posing which allows Page to throw him into the corner for some rights and lefts, but gets pulled into a clothesline and a splash off the ropes by Awesome. He slides out and pulls a table out. setting it up at ringside. Awesome with a scoop slam, then goes up top and hits a frog splash, covers and Page kicks out just barely before the three. Awesome goes to powerbomb Page over the ropes through the table, but Hancock has climbed on top of it and distracts Awesome, which allows Page to slip free and hit the Diamond Cutter for the win in 5:22. You know I have no issues with this match, Kimberly and Hancock were fine in their roles, Page and Awesome put on a good little match and the finish was fine.
Page and Hancock pose in victory as Awesome and Kimberly slide out.
Pamela is standing by outside Hogan's locker room, and apparently he told her moments ago that, quote "There's no way in hell Hulk Hogan will face Horace tonight," then commercial.
Now out comes Horace and Bischoff and I guess this was supposed to be a cage match because it's been lowered half way down. Bischoff says not to worry, because paramedics tell him that Jarrett's prognosis is very good, he himself now has the Hardcore Title, and Horace I guess is getting a table off screen because Bischoff tells him there's no need to. He says the rumor has been confirmed, he says Hogan knows not to step over the line, and says Hogan will not be there tonight, they get off early, and the fans don't have to see Hogan thanks to him. Horace though wants to put his sorry ass through the table. but Eric repeats that Hogan's not coming and they get the night off, unless Hogan wants to come out and just forfeit like a man.
Well all of a sudden, rather than "American Made," the NWO music hits, and rather than Hulk Hogan, out comes "Hollywood" Hogan, much to Bischoff's disbelief. Hogan repeats that he said Hulk Hogan wasn't going to wrestle, but didn't say a damn thing about Hollywood. He says it sure feels good to be bad again, and says to lower the damn cage so he can show Horace how bad he is.
Caged Heat Steel Cage Match: Hollywood Hogan vs Horace Hogan
Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts: I had to look up the name of this match, because this isn't a regular cage, it's like a Cell although I think it's a lot wider and provides more room around the ringside area.
Horace attacks before the cage even touches the floor with some rights and chops in the corner, but then gets whipped into the corner and hit with a clothesline, then drops him with a right hand. More rights, Horace sent off the ropes into a clothesline. Hogan takes off his belt and whips Horace, then chokes him with it followed by more right hands. Horace sent face first into the cage as they leave the ring, then again. OK I was wrong, the cage isn't wider. Spine first into the cage now, then takes a chair but gets it kicked back in his face. Chair over Hogan's back, then again, then swings for the head but Hogan ducks. Hogan with more rights now before returning to the ring with the chair.
Chair to the ribs and back of Horace, then sent of the ropes into a chair shot to the head. Hogan lays the chair on Horace's face and delivers the leg drop, covers and wins in 3:10. Well, it was a match.
Kidman rushes into the cage as Hogan gets his armed raised and attacks in the corner. Hogan reverses a whip into a clothesline, then tosses Kidman over the ropes through the table Horace set up earlier. Hogan's music hits as Hogan celebrates,
Pamela is in the back with the Flairs ahead of his cage match with Russo. Flair goes from cool and collected to his hyper self in a second, says they're in Atlanta, home of WCW, and he has a cage, a locked door, and Russo and isn't worried about a thing. He says he's the dirtiest player in the game and says Russo's going to bleed, sweat and pay the price of a wrestling lifetime tonight. Then they walk off.
That match is next, and we see Russo walking backstage on the phone with David, who's stuck in traffic apparently and Russo yells at him to get his ass to the arena as it goes to commercial.
We see Nash in the back getting ready for his Gauntlet match, then onto the next match.
Caged Heat Steel Cage Match: Vince Russo vs Ric Flair (w/ Beth & Reid Flair)
Lock up and Russo with a headlock, sent off the ropes and hits a shoulder block. Russo gets him from behind though as he retreats to the corner, then a mule kick low blow by Russo, followed by a chop takes down Flair. Russo mocks the strut but Flair's up, rips his shirt ff and delivers chops in the corner., then comes off the ropes with a low blow. Ric with a back suplex that Russo barely gets up for, then Ric with a running knee drop out of the corner to the face, Russo rolling out to the floor.
Russo face first into the cage, then chopped against the apron before sending him face first into the cage again. Chopped against the cage, Flair with rights to the top of the head, then sends Russo face first into the cage door. Suddenly David appears out of nowhere from under the ring and Ric follows him into the ring. Russo tries to open the door but Reid bites his hands through the chain link. David sent off the ropes into aback drop, then a chop. David sent into the corner and he does Flair's upside down to the apron spot, and Ric clotheslines him.
David face first into the door, then the cage and Flair delivers a right. Russo has grabbed a ladder and sets it up, seemingly to try and escape through the roof and he climbs, but Ric is back in the ring. Seems Russo had a trap door of sorts planned as he pulls open a panel of the cage roof with ease. Russo tries to climb and kicks Ric off repeatedly, but they make it to the top of the cage. Ric with a chop but Russo with a thumb to the eye, and... escapes back down into the cage, instead of just climbing down the side, and the ladder's toppled over, so Russo hangs from the edge of the hole, Ric stomps on his fingers and he falls to the mat.
The ref sets the ladder back up so Ric can get back down and down he comes. Ric stomps away at Russo and David, then applies the figure 4 on Russo. He tries to fight through the pain and writhes around and Russo tries to inch to the ropes. David tries to pull him free and this goes on forever, Russo should be tapping by now. Ah there it is, someone was really fucking late on their cue, because the ref and Flair get doused in a bloodbath. David puts Ric in the figure 4, Russo covers, the ref comes to eventually and counts the pin in 9:22.
The attack continues and they're all just a mess in this red shit. and we still have one more match to get to.
We see Nash and Steiner in the back before commercial.
Commentary give a brief recap of what's happened tonight, before we get to the main event.
Kevin Nash runs the New Blood Gauntlet
If Nash loses, or if anyone from the Millionaire's Club interferes, he loses his World Title shot at the Great American Bash.
Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts: Russo's music hits after Nash comes out, but Disco Inferno comes out instead, and Russo is out limping next with Candido, Vito and Johnny the Bull. He calls Nash a big stick and says he's out to reiterate the rules, that if Nash gets pinned by any one of the New Blood he loses his title shot, same goes if any of the Millionaires interfere.
Disco is first and delivers kicks to the knee of Nash then jumps on his back, only for Nash to turn it into a sidewalk slam, cover, fast count and Disco's out. Candido is next and runs into a big boot, then Nash delivers a jackknife powerbomb, just as Johnny the Bull comes in. Nash comes after him and doesn't even pin Candido, but the ref counts his shoulders down anyways and Candido's out. Jackknife on Johnny, no pin by Nash but he's counted down anyways and he's out. Big Vito next, knee to the gut and elbows to the back, then a jackknife, no pin, Vito's counted down and out. Rey Mysterio is next right into a big boot, Nash actually pins him with a boot on his chest and he's out. Now Vampiro, Mike Awesome, Shawn Stasiak, Chuck Palumbo, Konnan and Juventud rush the ring all at once, then Shane Douglas. Goldberg's music hits and out he comes. Double spear on the tag champs, then Vamp and Douglas with some kicks and shots, but Nash gets Vamp from behind, boot to Awesome. Goldberg with a right on Vamp sends him out of the ring, Nash with one on Douglas. Press slam on Douglas into Candido. I guess this match is over because Goldberg's music hits in 2:20. What the hell did that accomplish? And is Goldberg not part of the Millionaires Club? What the hell is going on?
Russo looks on pissed as Goldberg and Nash embrace and fist bump. Then Bischoff is out and says he warned Goldberg, and says that on Thunder he will suspend Goldberg. Goldberg gets a mic and warns Bischoff that if he gets suspended, his ass his next. They all stare each other down and the show fades out.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
Between that main event, the Ric/Russo match and Bischoff winning the title, this show was just terrible. The mixed tag was fine was really the only part of this show I had no real problem with. They even managed to screw up Goldberg's big return match. Sigh. Anyways, with a run time of 1:41:35, there was a total 46:35 of wrestling.
Thunder
We get a recap video for Nitro, then we cut to the parking garage where a limo pulls up, and out steps Bischoff with lawyers.
Then the opening video and pyro, broadcasting from the Civic Coliseum in Knoxville, Tennessee, 4 days away from the Great American Bash. Bischoff's music hits to start as Tony welcomes us to the show, and out he comes with his lawyers. Bischoff does the usual sarcastic "I love you people and I know you love me" routine. He says he has a few important announcements to make tonight, and that his legal team is there to ensure that this is official, documented, and he make no mistakes, so he says he's going to be very very careful with the words he chooses.
First, the anticipation towards the Bash, tremendous amount of speculation as to what his big surprise is, because we all know when he says it's going to be big, it will be big, but not to overhype anything, he says he wants to assure us that it will be the biggest damn move he has ever made, bar none, and no one can stop him.
Second, for those who watched Nitro, he was very clear when he addressed Goldberg and was fair, that if he interfered with New Blood business that Eric would have no choice, despite the fact that he really respects Goldberg, but to suspend him, therefore as of now he is suspended, without pay, for 90 days.
Third, on a more serious note, he wants to address what happened to Jarrett. He says because of what happened to him on Nitro, he was injured and therefore won't be able to participate at the Bash, and so his match with Nash has been postponed. He says though that Jarrett is a gentleman, a professional, and brings him out so he can say a few words.
So out comes Jarrett with his arm casted and elevated, ribs taped, leg in a cast, a neck brace and a cane, and blatantly obvious nurses and security accompanying him, as we get a replay from what happened on Nitro. Jarrett barely gets into the ring needing help from everyone. He takes the mic and says he knows that his millions of Slapnuts are going to be very disappointed, but they can blame this on Sting. He says that pinning a man is one thing. but taking his livelihood away is another, then asks what kind of man would challenge Vampiro to a Human Torch Match at the Bash. Nonetheless, he apologizes to all the fans, to WCW, to Eric, and most importantly to Nash.
Speak of the devil, out Nash comes with a bat and mic in hand. Jarrett apologizes to him again, but Nash says that it's himself who's truly sorry, because he was really looking forward to kicking his ass at the Bash. Jarrett says he was looking forward to the match himself but things happen, and they can have the match somewhere down the road and Nash can even bring the bat along. But Nash says that Jarrett doesn't understand, he brought the bat for a specific reason, to take Jarrett's temperature. Nash brings the bat down on his casted arm and into his leg, and begins tearing away at his bandaging. Nash goes for a jackknife and Bischoff tries to use the bat, but Nash catches it, and Bischoff and Jarrett escape. Nash lays out the lawyers and clotheslines Jarrett over the ropes onto the ramp and Jarrett retreats perfectly fine. Nash says he'll see his ass at the Bash as his music hits.
We cut to MIA in the back and Rection talks about a war and expects them to act like soldiers. He tells Cajun to stop ogling Guns and that this could be their biggest mission yet, so he wants them to lace em up and they all walk away.
Cut to... old people getting out of a van? And Russo steps out of the passenger seat? David comes around from the driver's side? I have never been more confused. Then commercial.
David runs into Daffney in the back and is wondering what's up with him, they haven't talked in a week. He says there's no time for this right now and they need to get ready for some party. She's confused to what he means by "we" as he walks away, asking if he's talking about Ms. Peacock, then she walks away in the opposite direction.
Now Kimberly is complaining to Bischoff, with Cat by his side. Then Jarrett comes in asking what Eric's going to do and Eric blames Russo for the failed ruse. He keeps asking what they're going to do and Eric doesn't know and Cat keeps acting like a parrot before Eric finally gets up and kicks everyone out, including Cat. Eric can't take it anymore.
WCW Cruiserweight Championship: Disco Inferno (w/ Konnan, Rey Mysterio, Juventud) vs Lt. Loco (w/ Cpt. Rection, Major Stash, Cpl. Cajun & Major Guns) vs Daffney (c) (w/ Crowbar)
Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts: Animals are out first and Konnan calls on G.I. Jabroni, saying him and his band of retards (his words) and try to copy their deal, but says don't know how to rock camo, and that when they bring out Lt. Loco and Daffney comes out with her title, once Disco beats her for it, since she likes to scream so much they're going to give her something to scream about. MIA come out bus someone in production messed up because they come out to Daffney's music, but quickly correct it and play MIA's music. This may as well be a lumberjack match with how many people are around the ring. Tygress also joins commentary out of nowhere, but more production issues as you can't even hear her.
Disco takes down Loco with a forearm, then tries to roll up Daffney but Loco breaks it up. More shots on Loco, then tries a backslide on Daffney and Loco breaks it up again. Disco face first in the corner, then whips Loco across the ring who gets a bot up, turning Disco around into a hurricanrana from Daffney. Loco scares Daffney and she trips over Disco, Loco tries to roll her up now and Disco breaks it up. Disco with a side headlock only to for Loco to hit a back suplex, covers but the Animals pull him off, then Daffney tries to get the cover but Disco kicks out. Crowbar comes in with a slingshot somersault onto MIA. Now Ms. Hancock is out for some reason and Daffney gets in her way as she comes down. Now Kimberly's out who shoves Hancock into Daffney. Major Gunos now comes over but Rection grabs her before she can get her hands on Kimberly.
Meanwhile in the ring the Animals are ganging up on Loco and Rey hits a Bronco Buster and G.I. Bro (sigh) appears to make the save, hitting Disco with the Book End, pulls Loco on top and wins the title. This match went just under 3 minutes and they packed in so much bullshit. (2:55)
MIA join the ring for the celebration, but Guns of course gives mouth-to-mouth to revive Loco for more celebrating.
Cut to Kidman who I guess is trying to apologize to Torrie for how he acted on Nitro but she doesn't want to hear it, but he has a match so he leaves/
Cat is standing around outside as we learn to be Eric's office and Russo walks up, Cat telling him he was kicked out. Russo tells him he's not being himself and that Cat is valuable to him, and Russo has something for him to do tonight as it goes to commercial.
Back from break and we during the break Cat is on the stage with a mic and is talking to... someone in the ring, maybe MIA, and says next time they come out and aren't in a match he's going fire them. Oh it is MIA. He tells them to go to the back before he sends them to the Waffle House to get a new job. Major Stash is still in the ring though as he has a match.
Major Stash vs Billy Kidman (w/ Horace)
Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts: We see Torrie hitting Kidman with a low blow on Nitro to give Bro (sigh) the win. Kidman gets the mic and calls out to Torrie. He says he had a lot of pressure on him on Nitro and he just snapped, but he needed to know if he could trust Horace, and based on the stitches on his head he knows that he can. He says he's 4 days away from firing Hogan at the Bash and he can't deal with this crap right now, so after he beats Pvt. Stash they really need to talk.
Kidman tries to attack Stash from behind but he blocks and knocks him down, then Horace tries to attack and gets tossed out. Inverted atomic drop on Kidman, then a big boot off the ropes. Kidman face first in the corner, then the opposite corner. Kidman whipped across the ring, tries to go up and catch Stash in a headscissor but he's caught for an Alabama Slam. Stash is tripped and pulled out by Horace, but takes some shots before going face first into the guard rail, allowing Kidman to hit a slingshot crossbody. Horace whips Stash into the steps before tossing him back in, Kidman covers for a near fall.
Kidman stomps away before going up top but Stash cuts his legs out from under him, then hits a superplex. Horace comes in and hits a death valley driver, Kidman goes up top for an elbow and gets the win in 2:09.
Kidman grabs the mic again and has his music cut off, then calls out Torrie and out she comes and tries to talk to her and apologize, but she slaps him instead and walks to the back alone.
Cat is seen trying to teach the old people we saw earlier to dance. Cat has an issue with this one woman and she takes her jacket off, threatening to knock the bleach out of his hair, the goes back to teaching them into commercial.
Out come Russo, David and the old people for the party mentioned earlier, as balloons drop from the sky, and they're bringing a gigiant cake with them. There's also a table in the ring with something on it.David starts by saying he's glad the fans could make it to his dad's retirement party, even if it's a little early, but it's always time to celebrate. David does the "you were never there for me" routine, but he made damn sure he didn't miss this for the world. He says here's to his long, overdue retirement and will see Ric at the Bash.
Russo takes the mic and says to those keeping score that his record as a professional wrestler is now 2-0, that within one week he pinned Reid and Ric in the middle of the ring. He says there was a price to pay because the doctors say that he shouldn't even be standing there tonight, he suffered a severe concussion which from what I've read seems to be legit, ligament damage, and most importantly he rips his shirt to reveal his chest bruised from Ric's chops. He threatens to beat up the old people, then says he wouldn't miss Ric's retirement party for the life of him, and he even brought all of Ric's friends, I guess that's who these old people are supposed to be. He asks which of them is passing gas and says they stink and calls them old bags.
They start singing "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" which is barely audible and the cake is rolled down closer to the ring, but Russo tells the guy to stop and says he wasn't born yesterday and that he won't rain on his parade tonight, obviously thinking Ric is hiding in the cake. So Russo climbs onto the cake and digs inside but Ric appears from somewhere behind them and slides in the ring. He hits David before going after Russo. Ric backs him into the ring and says Russo has it coming one more time, and since he likes getting his ass kicked, getting chopped. Reid appears out of nowhere too and Ric shoves Russo's face into the cake that was on the table. Now Ric goes after David in the corner, chops and rights and a low blow, then leaves with Reid as his music hits. Russo throws cake into the crowd as he's a mess.
We see a car arriving at the arena and out steps Tank and Rick, then we see Goldberg's monster truck in the background as it goes to commercial.
Bischoff is on the phone with someone, says they're renting the building, and if Goldberg sets one foot in the building he wants him arrested, so I guess he's talking to the police. They apparently have no idea who he's talking about and Eric reiterates who he's talking about.
We see the Mamalukes somewhere backstage, seemingly in a bar area, and a ref is there and Wall attacks so I guess we have a match?
WCW Hardcore Championship: Big Vito & Johnny the Bull (c) vs The Wall
Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts: So as this match gets going commentary explain that, off camera, Bischoff just gave the title to both Vito and Johnny, so I guess they're co-champions?
Wall delivers rights to the champions then sends Johnny face first into a vending machine, Then Johnny hits him with a prop box of Jraft Dinner and they start double teaming him out of the bar. They throw him over some railings into what looks like a catering area. Trash can and baking tray to the back of Wall who no sells everything, then sent face first into some doors. More fighting and double teaming now out to the arena through the crowd and to the ringside area.
Wall gets some offense in and tosses Johnny in the ring, goes for a two handed choke but Vito nails him from behind. Wall sent off the ropes into forearms, then stomping away, Bull covers and gets shoved off. Wall sent off the ropes again into a double team slam, Bull covers for a near fall. More stomps, Wall sent off the ropes, ducks clotheslines and hits a double one of his own. Vito sent off the ropes into a big boot, then chokeslams Johnny. Wall leaves the ring to pull out a table and slides it into the ring. Boot to the head of Vito, then drops Bull ribs first on the top rope. Wall sets up the table as Vito goes up top, Wall grabs him by the throat seemingly for a chokeslam but Vito fights back. Douglas comes in and nails Wall in the back with a chair, then powerbombs Wall through the table. Vito goes up top with a splash and the champs retain in 5:16.
Douglas talks some trash and the Maamalukes celebrate and talk some trash on a downed Wall, until he comes to and sits up. He goes after Douglas through the crowd as the Mamalukes pose with the title, only to be attacked from behind by Tank before climbing into the ring and gets a mic. He tells the fans to shut up, then tells Goldberg that they're far from done and says he got lucky. He wants Goldberg's ass in a rematch, anywhere, anytime. I guess he didn't get the memo that Goldberg's been suspended. He tells the fans to shut up again as we get a Goldberg chant.
Now he moves onto Big Poppa Chump, and says when he sees him at the Bash, he's going to make him his freak, because he's going to get crazy in the Asylum and shove Steiner's head up his own backside. As for tonight, he wants somebody big, somebody tough, somebody sexy, so calls out Nash for a match. As he waits, he calls the fans a bunch of hillbilly idiots, just like Goldberg, then commercial.
Tank is still waiting but we have a referee again and Tank threatens to beat up innocent victims again until he comes out. Tank leaves the ring to find a victim, and meanwhile Nash is seen just sitting and watching this go down backstage. Tank walks around ringside and insults the fans some more and finds his way over to, as Tenay tells us, Schiavone's son sitting front row and the kid throws water in Tank's face to a pretty good pop and he quickly runs back into Schiavone's arms. But now Nash's music hits so I guess we're about to have our match.
Tank Abbott vs Kevin Nash
Clubbing blows to the back by Nsah and in about 2 seconds Rick is already down there attacking Nash and the ref immediately calls for the bell in 16 seconds, the fuck was the point of this?
Steiner's out to even the odds and Tank and Rick escape as Tank says he'll see Scott at the Bash. Nash's music hits as they stare each other down. Bischoff is out now with a mic and tells Steiner he's a little tired and bored of him and Big Dopey and all their little run ins, and announces that Steiner will run the New Blood Gauntlet tonight. Oh joy. If Kevin interferes he loses his title shot at the Bash, and if Goldberg shows up he'll be arrested on the spot. Then they head to the back.
Goldberg is seen entering the arena on what looks like a security camera and he kicks the door in. We see him from several angles walking through the arena into commercial.
Police cruisers arrive at the arena and Cat is there to meet them and chastises them for not getting there sooner, telling them Goldberg is there and tells them to do their job. They tell him to shut up and one says he's heard enough of him and says he'll show Cat an attitude and Cat just says he's trying to help. We see Mike Awesome driving in an ambulance and carrying a halo, then Cpl. Cajun is standing in the ring as Awesome comes with the halo out for the next match.
Cpl. Cajun vs "Career Killer" Mike Awesome
Mike attacks in the corner, sends Cajun off the ropes who slides through the legs and hits a dropkick, but Awesome only stumbles back against the ropes, getting his boots up as Cajun charges. Scoop slam attempt is countered for a roll up attempt but Awesome holds onto the ropes to block, followed by a clothesline. Cajun sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline but runs into a popup sitout powerbomb. Awesome off the ropes with a splash, then some stomps before he goes up top and hits the frog splash.
Awesome leaves the ring and pulls out a table, throwing it into the ring, then hits a clothesline. Awesome sets up the table and prepares for an Awesome Bomb, but Page appears and attacks as Cajun slips free, hits a discus clothesline. He wastes time playing to the crowd though and gets nailed in the head with the halo by Awesome, who then puts Page through the table with the Awesome Bomb. Awesome's music hits but no bell was rung, so I guess this is a no contest in 3:01. This was fine for what it was I guess.
Awesome puts the halo on Page as Awesome leaves and flips off Page.
A limo pulls up and out steps Hogan into commercial.
Bischoff is seen talking to police, with Kimberly by his side, and tells them if they see Goldberg or anybody that even looks like Goldberg, he wants them arrested. Kimberly wonders if anyone would be willing to get her a cup of espresso and the officers get distracted by her as Bischoff continues.
Now to another title match.
WCW World Tag Team Championship: G.I. Bro (sigh) & Capt. Rection (w/ Major Guns) vs "Perfectshawn" & "The Event" (c)
Stasiak and Rection start the match and go to lock up, but Stasiak with a cheap boot to the midsection, followed by some rights. Rection reverses a whip off the ropes, goes for a hip toss, then Stasiak blocks and goes for one but gets blocked, ducks a clothesline from Rection. More kicks and rights, Rection reverses another whip off the ropes and hits a clothesline, covers for a kick out.
Booker tags in, Stasiak off the ropes into a double elbow. Side kick by Booker, cover and a kick out. Arm wringer and Rection tags in, Stasiak sent off the ropes into a double clothesline. Stasiak sent off the ropes into a spinning heel kick, Rection with the cover and a near fall. Stasiak gets a right in so he can tag in Palumbo, but Rection is back on the offensive with some right hands, Palumbo whipped toward the corner but goes up and over Rection, ducks a clothesline and hits a standing side kick. For some reason the camera cuts to an old guy in army gear in the crowd as Stasiak goes up top with a flying clothesline, cover and a near fall.
Palumbo back in with rights in the corner and Stasiak in again, Rection sent off the ropes into a back elbow, cover and a kick out. Rection face first in the corner, elbow to the back of the head, and the "fan" mentioned earlier hops the rail to check out Guns. Tenay seems to recognize the old guy as Rection runs into a dropkick from Palumbo, covers and a kick out. Tony seems to agree with Tenay and I guess he's been at ringside before but it's been months. Anyways, double teaming on Rection in the heel corner and Stasiak tags in and hits a suplex, covers and a near fall. Stasiak stomps away and Booker comes in to hit him, Palumbo tags in and Rection reverses a whip for a powerslam.
Booker gets the hot tag and gives out rights and clotheslines and kicks. Stasiak sent to the outside, sidewalk slam on Palumbo. Rection tagged in, goes up top and hits an elbow, covers but Stasiak breaks it up. Booker sends him out again as Rection chops Palumbo in the corner, but gets whipped across the ring and hits a clothesline on Palumbo. Rection goes up top and for some reason the old guy gets in the ring. Palumbo comes in with the Lex Flexer and nails Rection in the back with it off the distraction, makes the cove rand champs retain in 6:42. This was actually a good tag match if you ignore the old guy.
The old guy checks who acts like he's hurt, mimicking Rection as Bro (sigh) and Guns come in. The champs leave as Rectin is checked on and they look at the old guy wondering what happened. Now Kronic's music hits and out they come and start fighting the champs on the ramp. Stasiak press slammed back in the ring, then Palumbo tossed in after him and Booker and Rection join Kronic in a beatdown. High Time on Palumbo. Kronic leave into commercial.
The Cat vs Sting
Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts: Cat gets the mic and wants all the rednecks to sit their asses down and shut up before he closes the place down. He says before he kicks Sting's ass, he's gonna do a bit of dancing for the fat asses, and calls for his music. So he dances without the red shoes and uninterrupted before Sting comes out. As Sting poses in the corner though Vamp appears out of nowhere and sprays Sting with a fire extinguisher. Sting hit over the back with it as Cat just leaves and Vamp attacks, so this match never starts.
Vamp with shots in the corner, whips Sting across the ring and hits
a corner splash, then hits the Scorpion Deathdrop. Sting is tossed to the outside and somehow, without them knowing, Vamp had hid a gas can and blow torch under the commentary desk. He pours the gas on top of the announce table then lights it up with the blow torch Sting though gets the extinguisher and gets Vamp and the table with it, putting out the fire. Vamp whipped into the guard rail, but then Sting misses a running splash hitting the guard rail himself. before being chokeslammed onto the announce table. Vamp gets a mic and sits next to Sting and mumbles something abot burning, and on Sunday it'll just be Sting's flesh into commercial.
We get a replay of what happened with Vamp and Sting before the break and we see Sting in the back refusing medical attention as he heads outside.
Commentary refuse to sit down at their replacement table scared of Vamp coming out again and setting their table on fire as they hype up the Human Torch match.
Gene is in the ring and says this may be the final time he gets to introduce his guest, who faces possible retirement at the Bash on Sunday, but after watching Nitro on Monday, he says to Kidman that he's going to be in for one hell of a fight, then introduces his guest Hollywood Hogan, and out he comes to the NWO music in black and white.
Gene asks how it feels to be back in black. Hogan says it feels so good to be bad again, and with the PPV coming up Sunday and Kidman on the run, he just had to be black again (wow that aged poorly) because Russo, Bischoff, and this whole New Blood is pretty damn boring (brother). He says as far as he's concerned, now that Goldberg is in the house, Big Sexy is taking control, it was time for Hollywood Hogan to clean up all the other trash in WCW, and Sunday Kidman is going to be the supreme sacrifice.
Gene mentions how Kidman has some problems of his own, a little disharmony between him and Torrie, but on the other hand, we have a guy Hogan kept under his wing in his nephew Horace and has turned on him. He says he calls em like he sees em, Billy Kidman will always be branded the flea marker champion, because he's not man enough to handle that woman he's got, and as far as he's concerned there's always one bad apple at the bottom of the barrel and Horace is as rotten as they come. He says the way things go, he's gonna line em up, one by one, starting with Kidman, because if he beats him (which he says he will) there's more on the line than just winning the match, his career, everything he lives for, and everything the fans believe in is on the line. He says he's going to get a shot in July at the World Title, and whether it's old slap nuts hillbilly Jarrett or his buddy Kevin Nash, he says he's going to kick somebody's ass in July after he beats Kidman.
Gene says that Hogan's not only fighting for himself but also for a lot of other people, including himself and fans that have watched ad supported him for the last umpteen years. Hogan says the New Blood is going to be history real soon, and that you can't just take the dudes who made the business and push them to the side, you gotta beat em and put em to the side, and that's not gonna happen. He tells Kidman that Sunday he's going to make an example out of him, and is going to beat his ass at the Bash, and then go on and wn the World Title in July. He starts to do the "Whatcha gonna do" shtick, but stops himself and says they're way beyond that, he's just going to kick Kidman's ass on Sunday. So Hogan repeated himself a lot but that wasn't a terrible interview. His music hits and he plays to the crowd some before shaking Gene's hand.
Up next, Steiner runs the gauntlet in the main event.
Scott Steiner (WCW U.S. Heavyweight Champion) runs the New Blood Gauntlet
If Kevin Nash interferes, he loses his title shot at the Bash.
Pre-Match Notes & Thoughts: Steiner takes the mic and calls out to Eric, saying they're no strangers, so Eric of all people should know not to get on his bad side. He says if Eric wants him to beat that New Blood ass, he'll beat that New Blood ass, but when it's all said and done he's coming after Eric. He moves onto Tank, and has one favor to ask of him, tells him to stitch some front teeth in so he has something to knock down Tank's throat. Speaking of Eric, his music hits and out he comes with the New Blood behind him.
Candido is up first, reverses a whip off the ropes, leapfrogs but gets caught for a German suplex. Candido lifted to the top rope for a belly to belly, cover and he's out. Stasiak in immediately and clubs Steiner from behind, stomping away. Steiner face first in the corner and Stasiak with rights, sends him across the ring but Steiner gets a boot up, followed by his spinning belly to belly slam, cover and he's out. Palumbo next and attacks with the Lex Flexer to the back and arm repeatedly. Nash is watching on a monitor backstage but it's so small you can't see anything, and I guess one of Steiner's girls tried to interfere but was caught. Steiner hits a low blow then puts him in the Recliner and he's out. Cat sneaks in from behind and uses his tie to start choking Steiner but he turns around immediately for a belly to belly overhead, then the Recliner, but then Awesome goes up top with a flying clothesline forcing Steiner to let go. Douglas comes down too and hits his inverted snapmare on Steiner. Steiner sent into the corner and Nash starts to go to the ring but as he turns the corner out of his locker room Jarrett smashes a guitar over his head. Steiner is laying out Douglas and Awesome now and out comes Rick and Tank, and the ref calls for the bell in 2:50.
Tank knocks out Steiner with a right, then Rick puts him in a straightjacket with help from the others. Then someone pulls out a body bag and rolls him inside, but Goldberg's music hits and out he comes before they can zip up the bag. Tank pulls a bagged Steiner out of the ring as the rest gang up on Goldberg and he eventually breaks free. Right hands all around. Candido grabbed by the neck and thrown out onto the ramp, then falls to the floor. Cat tries to show off his martial arts skills but just gets dropped with a right hand. Douglas is the only one left and he tries to retreat, but he's sent off the ropes, lifted into a gorilla press into a powerslam in one fell swoop. Goldberg looks on as Bischoff comes out with the cops and Eric says he's under arrest, sending the officers down. But the show ends before anything can happen.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
Well aside from the tag title match and Goldberg, this show was also pretty bad. The main event once again accomplished nothing, the Hardcore Title is a mess, this Sting/Vampiro thing is terrible. Just will be glad to move on from all this after the PPV. With a run time of 1:27:46, this show had a total of only 23:19 of wrestling.
