WCW Week of May 29, 2000 Recap

Nitro
- Reid and Beth Flair are kidnapped by Russo and David.
- Flair is handed his 16th World Title by Nash, then is forced into a title defense later in the night when Russo uses his family as ransom.
- Lt. Loco beats Disco Inferno in a Lumberjack Match, with the other Animals and MIA surrounding the ring, after lot of interference.
- Ms. Hancock starts a strip tease, but is interrupted by Candido, then David Flair makes the save for some reason. Ric also comes down to get his hands on David but he escapes with Hancock as security rush the ring.
- G.I. Bro (sigh) beats Mike Awesome in an Ambulance Match with help from DDP.
- Liz flees from Stasiak and Palumbo after Kronic attack.
- Horace is named the special ref for Hogan/Kidman at the Bash, then Hogan comes out to attack and Goldberg makes a surprise return outside the arena.
- Tank and Rick Steiner beat Nash via DQ when Goldberg comes out and lays out Rick. Then he challenges Tank to a match on the next week's Nitro.
- Funk vs Vampiro for the Hardcore Title ends in a no contest after officials stop Vamp from setting him on fire with the aid of a gas tanker and a blow torch.
- Kimberly earlier int he week is seen throwing out and boxing up all of DDP's stuff, and he's forced away by police when he finds out what's going on.
- Kimberly calls out Liz with Palumbo and Stasiak by her side. They grab her. Page comes out to make the save. Bischoff sends the cops after him for breaking the restraining order, but then Palumbo attacks a cuffed Page and an officer with a Lex Flexer., then Luger makes the save and takes Liz away. Awesome tries to take advantage but Karl Malone hops the rail to hit a Diamond Cutter and make the save.
- Steiner retains the US Title in an Asylum Match over Shane Douglas with the Steiner Recliner.
- Kidman beats Sting after Vamp nails Sting in the head with a blow torch. They beat down Sting, Bischoff comes down. Hogan tries to make the save but Cat kicks a chair into his face. They rip his shirt off and set it on fire in a trash can, then Kronic make the save.
- David is made guest ref of the World Title match. He's taken out. A second ref is taken out. After a guitar shot by Jarrett, Russo counts the pin and Jarrett wins the title, to which the fans react by filling the ring and surrounding area with trash.

Thunder
- Funk retains the Hardcore Title over Candido, dressed like Funk for some reason, after driving to a nearby ranch and pulling Candido down through a conveniently provided table.
- Cat is put in charge of the show.
- Russo tries to turn Beth against her husband and it goads Rick into making a challenge for a match with Russo. He counters with a challenge for a tag match, with he and David against Ric and Reid, which Ric and Reid accept.
- Kimberly and Mike Awesome cut a promo on Page, which leads to a plant jumping the ring and being put through a table.
- A three-way or a handicap match between Kidman, Horace and Sting is won by Sting with a Deathlock on Kidman.
- Jarrett retains the World Title over Shane Douglas after interference from Cat, who made the match at Douglas' request.
- Sitdown interview between Paige and Tenay.
- Stasiak and Palumbo beat Kronic for the tag titles via DQ per stipulation set by Cat, after Adams uses the Lex Flexer on Palumbo.
- Norman and Ralphus meet some kids doing backyard wrestling and steal their belt.
- Bischoff hypes some big game changing event set to happen at the Bash.
- David and Russo beat Flair and Reid, after David puts Reid in the figure 4 and Russo pins him.
- Steiner and Nash beat Tank and Rick, but per match stipulation made by Cat, since Nash got the pin, he faces Jarrett for the World Title at the Bash.

Our opening video package recaps hypes our World Title situation, plus the 3-way dance and the "shoot" issues behind the scenes. Then we see fans getting pumped about the 3-way before we go out to the arena. We're live from the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia up in the Great White North. Schiavone welcomes us to the show and we get to our first match. Double Ladder Match for 3 Count's Gold Record & Recording Contract: 3 Count (w/ Tank Abbot) vs The Jung Dragons Pre-Match : So presumably, it seems the idea of a double ladder match is that each time will go for something different, and this isn't winner take all...? Tony tells us that 3 Count is more concerned with the gold record, and the Dragons want the contract so 3 Count can't make any more records. WCW Spring Stampede 2000

We get an opening video package which starts with Russo's hatred for Flair, then a recap of Bischoff and Hogan's issues. Then we cut to Eric and Russo in the back, and apparently Hogan's checked himself out of the hospital, much to Eric's confusion. Kidman says they just need to fire up the hummer and finish what they started.  Another video package set to music, highlighting everything that went down in the last week or so, then to the arena for the opening pyro, live from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Tony Schiavone, Scott Hudson and Mark Madden are on commentary, so I guess Mark recovered from his attack by Tank. They run down the card for tonight, going over the tournaments and the Millionaires Club's chances. They also tell us that Russo and Eric have made it clear to the referees that they don't want them to jump the gun and throw matches out immediately, so the DQ rule will be a more relaxed. Recap of what happened with Rock and the McMahons on Smackdown. We're live from the Cajundome in Lafayette, LA for the go-home episode of Summerslam. JR is here by himself unsure where King is for the time being. Rock is here to get the show started. He gets in his usual cheap pops. He uses the fact that Louisiana is shaped like a boot to transition into wanting to take his own boot, put some jambalaya on it, some gumbo on it, some Louisiana hot sauce on it, and shove it so far up Trips' ass it comes out of his mouth, then put some more hot sauce on it, turn it sideways and stick it up Angle's ass. He says it's the only way they'll ever be united, because they have different agendas, pointless goals, that being to take away his title and win the heart of Stephanie who he calls different variations of a slut.
