WCW Week of October 9, 2000
Nitro
Limo arrives at the arena and out steps... Jarrett dressed as surfer Sting? To his credit, he's a splitting image of him practically.
We're live this week from the Brisbane Entertainment Center in Brisbane, Australia, apparently the first Nitro outside of North America. They're also using the Thunder set for this show, oddly enough, and it seems to be a full house. Schiavone welcomes us to the show as we get to our first match.
"Primetime" Elix Skipper vs Rey Mysterio Jr. (w/ Tygress)
Pre-Match: Immediately there's audio issues. No ring introductions as Skipper comes out, and Rey comes out while Elix's music is still playing. Penzer's mic audio isn't working properly either when he eventually is heard. Commentary are also oddly quiet for these entrances.
More botches as Schiavone calls Elix the Cruiserweight Champion. Stevie Ray has replaced Hudson on commentary for unknown reasons as Tygress joins them. Bit of back and forth, then a shoving contest, then some more back and forth, Elix misses a springboard moonsault but hits a spin kick. Rey sent off the ropes, flips over to the apron, Elix flips over with a sunset flip and it looks like Rey's head clears the padding n the floor. Back in the ring, Elix misses a slingshot splash and Rey with a springboard leg drop to the back of the head, covers for two. Rey sent off the ropes, goes for a springboard moonsault and is caught, but sends Elix chest first into the corner, then Rey with a bulldog. Snapmare and a split-legged moonsault into a cover for two.
Rey is crotched on the top rope off a wheelbarrow attempt, then Elix walks along the ropes and tries for a headscissor, but Rey ends up falling back and the tumble instead. Back in the ring, back suplex by Elix, then a handstand into a leg drop off the top rope and a cover for two. Rear chinlock by Elix into a wristlock and Rey fights out, then goes to the top rope with a headscissor. Clothesline by Rey and a dropkick, then off the ropes with another clothesline. Rights send Elix out to the floor and Rey with a dropkick through the ropes, then a somersault slingshot from Rey.
Elix misses a springboard crossbody into the ring, then Elix sent to the corner, dropping down for the Bronco Buster. Torrie comes through the crowd behind commentary to attack Tygress. Rey has gone out on the apron during all this and Elix flies off the middle rope to turn him inside out with a clothesline. Rey caught with the Play of the Week (overdrive) for the win in 5:59. I don't know what the point of Torrie and Tygress going at it was when it didn't play into anything. Few botches in this match didn't ruin it, it was a fine opener.
Torrie seems to have gotten the better of Tygress in their fight and she leaves.
Franchise is talking to Boogie Knights backstage and he shakes hands with Disqo and again the audio is screwy, you can't hear the first bit of the conversation, until Douglas says Torrie is gonna have her ass franchised.
Thrillers are walking backstage led by Sanders.
Commercial
Out come the Thrillers, although Reno isn't with them. Sanders gets the mic and claims to be the new commissioner and books a "Down Underwear Match" with Tygress and Torrie after what happened earlier. Basically a bra and panties match where they start out in safari wear. He takes pride in accepting responsibility as the new commissioner and with Russo's backing he can't fai. There's a "Russo sucks" chant. He says the fans are in for a treat because they'll be the first to see the end of Goldberg's streak.
Out comes Cat and Ms. Jones to call Sanders an asskisser. He does take his hat off to Sanders for trying to pull everything out and make this a better show, but the only thing he'll be pulling out tonight is Cat's foot from his ass. Sanders puts the Thrillers on the front line, so Cat suggest they put their powers together for one night to put on a great show. So Cat calls for some celebrating, but first he has some friends to join him, MIA specifically. The audio is so weird on this show, usually commentary can't stop yammering but anytime there's music playing they're deathly silent.
So now Cat challenges Sanders to a dance off only to deck him and a big fight breaks out.Cat knocks Sanders out of the ring and MIA gets the upper hand. Cat says he's gonna beat Sanders' ass and he tells Cat to bring back up.
Boogie Knights are backstage, they get a shot at the tag titles next.
Stacey has arrived at the arena.
Commercial
Jarrett arrives in catering as Sting. He says he's the one with no heart, the one who's finished, washed up. There's some guy with him telling him he has no time, and he agrees, says it's showtime, does Sting's "Wooo" and leaves.
WCW World Tag Team Championship: Boogie Knights vs Mark Jindrak & Sean O'Haire (c)
Wright and Jindrak start things off. Wright with a cheap shot immediately before Jindrak is backed into the Knights' corner. Disco gets some shots in, then some chops by Wright. Jindrak sent to the corner for a running back elbow, then Wright sent across the ring and gets a boot up, nearly dropped on his head with a tilt-a-whirl sidewalk slam. Disqo nails Jindrak from behind with the duck allowing Wright to hit a spinning back kick. Side suplex and a cover for two by Wright.
Disqo tags in. Snap suplex by Wright and a double ax from the middle rope by Disqo. Disqo sent off the ropes, kneed in the back by O'Haire from the apron and a clothesline by Jindrak. Sean tags in. Snap slam by Sean, then a slap. Dsco throws some punches and misses, then dropped by one from Sean. Jindrak back in, a double hip toss across the ring by the champs. Sean goes up top for the Seanton Bomb but Wright crotches him on the top rope. Jindrak back on the attack, sends Disqo off the ropes but he avoids a dropkick. Wright up top, he and Disqo with a Russian leg sweep/missile dropkick combo, Wright covers and Sean breaks it up. Sean knocked out to the floor, Jindrak sent off the ropes for an inverted atomic drop by Disqo, then a dropkick by Wright for another cover and two.
Wright sent off the ropes, tripped up by Sean and an elbow by Jindrak. Sean back in, double inverted atomic drop and a double dropkick to Wright. Wright sent off the ropes into a body shot and a knee lift. Jawbreaker by Sean and a springboard clothesline by Jindrak, cover for two. Wright sent to the corner, clothesline by Sean, then sent across the ring and Jindrak misses a splash, Wright rolls under a clothesline to tag in Disqo.
Disqo goes after Sean, he's sent off the ropes into a spinning neckbreaker on Sean, then a DDT to Jindrak. Cover on Jindrak, who pushes him off onto Sean for another cover for two. Jindrak whipped but Sean blocks, then they both block a noggin knocker by Disqo as Wright goes up top. Crossbody and a double pin for two. Sean sent to the corner, gets a boot up and lays out the ref by accident. Sean clotheslined out to the floor. New referee and a roll up by Jindrak, who's pushed off into a stunner from Disqo and... Wait, we have new champions? (6:01)
Oh never mind, here's Sanders now, who says Boogie Knights should be DQ'd for what happened to the referee. Then Palumbo, Reno and Johnny attack from behind and lay out the Knights before Sanders has the match restarted, double pin and champions retain. Well thank god for that. Decent match all things considered.
Stacey is walking backstage. Goldberg arrives on his motorcycle.
Commercial
We go to footage of WCW stars at the koala sanctuary from earlier in the day.
Then its over to... Surfer Jarrett? Best name I can come up with. He repeats his no heart, hunger, finished, yada yada yada spiel before going into a plug for a Surfer Jarrett Mastercard, referencing some movie with Daisy Fuentes and Sting and getting your money's worth.
Oh just what we need, Mark Madden with a microphone, who brings out Stacey. Madden gets skeevy immediately before getting right to business, her child and the wedding and the father of her baby. She says it's none of his business or that of the fans. Then she speaks out to David, someone she says she really does care about, she says he needs to stop running around like a crazy person implicating innocent people, and says to blame her and her mistake and she's sorry. She claims to still love him, and to stop for her and her unborn child's sake. Madden suggest that maybe she can't remember, or she was drunk, then basically calls her a slut.
Stacey is about to leave but out comes David. Stacey tries to hug him but he has none of it. David is still convinced Buff is the father and wonders what she likes so much about him. She claims that all he saw on that tape was innocent flirting, but David and Madden aren't having it, and David wants her to take a blood test now if she really does love him. Madden is somehow the smart one in this segment who points out she doesn't need to since we know she's the mother. Now he accuses Madden of being the father and suggest he take it, and Madden immediately sells her out.
Crowbar now runs out in his 70s gear to make the save and try to snap him out of it. He understands he's hurting but says David needs to go to the back so they can talk things out like old times. David attacks from behind instead and lays in the boots. Now Awesome runs out to make the save. David and Stacey leave.
Tygress is walking backstage, as is Torrie, their match next
Commercial
So Pamela is backstage with Surfer Jarrett and she calls him a bloke, saying he's not fooling anyone. Jarrett on instinct calls her blondie before going back into Sting mode, claiming he's the real deal, well the version people cared about, and to prove he's the world's biggest, shameless self-promoter he has a treat in the next segment for all his little Stingers. He's going to be selling autographs for $15 a pop in the ring, and nearly calls her slapnuts, before doing Sting's shtick again and walking off.
Down Underwear Match: Tygress vs Torrie Wilson
Torrie tries to do her makeup, then she shoves Tygress. Torrie sent to the corner, then a hairmare by Tygress. Torrie pulled up and dropped by the hair, then dragged around by the hair. Torrie gets the knees up to block a middle rope splash, then Tygress' top is pulled away. Tygress sent to the corner, gets the boots up, then hits the Stuff Buster before ripping Torrie's shorts off. Face Full of Stuff by Tygress. Smack across the face by Torrie, Tygress pokes the eyes, then rips the top off for the win in 1:57.
Douglas is here immediately to confront Tygress, then Konnan makes the save and hits the rolling thunder lariat. Torrie checks on Douglas and they leave. Konnan calls him a jackass and tells him to be ready to get franchised.
Vito bumps into Sanders backstage and Vito calls him Mr. Hiney Wipe. Sanders says Vito's career hasn't taken off like he'd hope, then Vito calls him stromboli holder. Sanders has something planned for him tonight and Vito's down for whatever.
Commercial
Surfer Jarrett makes his way out, and they didn't even bother to use Surfer Sting's music, he's coming out to the crow theme. He passes a note to Penzer as they enter the ring together and there's a table set up in the ring for autographs. Penzer announces Jarrett as the original Sting and Jarrett does the howl in the corner. Penzer leaves the ring. Jarrett tries to hype up the crowd before taking the mic. Jarrett has a big announcement to make before the autographs, he says it's because when Jarrett beats the living hell out of him (Sting) and pins him (Sting) at the PPV, he's gonna do what he should have done years ago, and that's retire. As one last good gesture to the Stingers, he's going to sign autograph, even with no heart and no smile he's going to cash in while he has the chance.
He's inviting fans to enter the ring while a cable suddenly drops rom the rafters and down rappels Sting. They get in each other's face, and Jarrett mocks him, and Sting starts laying into him. Jarrett tossed out to the floor and into the guard rail, then face first off the announce table. Back to the ring, Jarrett manages a low blow and delivers some rights in the corner. There's an NWO Sting reference by Madden as Sting is sent to the corner and Jarrett hits a Stinger Splash. Jarrett clears the table and Sting is suplexed through it, only to pop right back up and no sell. Clothesline by Sting and mounted rights in the corner, then the Stinger Splash and the Scorpion Deathlock. Referees run out to pull him off as Jeff is tapping. Sting refuses to let go as Jarrett pleads for mercy, and Sting finally lets go. OK I actually kinda enjoyed that.
Commercial
Steiner and Midajah find Jarrett backstage being checked on by the trainer. Steiner says he'll take care of Sting.
Sanders comes out and gets a mic. Since Cat told him to get backup, he got 7 ft worth of asskicking backup in Nash. Now Cat comes out with Ms. Jones and a mic. He calls Nash Sanders' grandma, and he has a partner of his own, before spouting off Booker's catchphrase.
Mike Sanders (WCW Cruiserweight Champion) & Kevin Nash vs The Cat & Booker T (WCW World Heavyweight Champion) (w/ Ms. Jones)
Sanders and Booker start things out. We get a bit of back and forth until Booker hits a spin kick, then Cat tags in. Sanders sent off the ropes into a double clothesline, then some back and side kicks to the midsection by Cat. Sanders sent off the ropes, tries a sunset flip but Cat decks him, followed by an elbow drop. Cat sent off the ropes and clubbed over the back by Nash from the apron, then Sanders lays in the boots and chokes Cat. Snapmare and a kick to the chest, followed by a fist drop from Sanders. Nash tags in as Cat tries to fight back but Cat is clubbed down, then a sidewalk slam and a cover for two. Nash knocks Booker off the apron, then Sanders is back in. Cat choked again, then some knee drops. Cat fights back until his eyes are raked, then Sanders sent off the ropes and there's a double clothesline taking each other out.
Booker gets the hot tag and Nash is in. Harlem Side Kick, then rights to Nash, who's sent off the ropes into a clothesline. Sanders back on the attack only to be set up for the ax kick, followed by the spinaroonie. Booker is going for the Book End and then... tags in Cat for some reason. Sanders sent to the corner, Feliner off the rebound for the win, while Nash takes his sweet time trying to break it up in 4:33. It was a fine match.
Booker attacks Nash in the corner while Sanders is tossed out.Dancing by Cat in front of some Australian athlete, and the camera's miss Steiner coming out of nowhere to attack Booker with a pipe. Sanders attacks Cat at ringside. Steiner gets a mic and says even though he doesn't have a crystal ball and can't see the future, he guarantees he's kicking Booker's ass at the PPV. Then another pipe shot to the ribs. Then Steiner challenges Sting to a match for tonight. Then we get a replay of the finish and Steiner's attack that the cameras missed.
Pamela is backstage with David. She says he could have hurt Stacey and the baby. He says nothing's going to stop him until he knows the truth, not even Awesome, before challenging him to a Hardcore Match.
Goldberg is getting ready, he's in a match next.
Commercial
Pamela is backstage with Vito, who we find out is Goldberg's opponent. He says there comes a time in a man's life when he's gotta do what a man's gotta do, Goldberg's job is on the line and Vito's got the biggest chance in WCW to take out the man. He doesn't sweat or fear nobody, he and Goldberg have no issues but they have to do business, may the best man win, shake hands when it's all over.
Streak vs Career Match: Big Vito vs Goldberg (3-0)
Pre-Match: They seem to have fixed the weird audio with audio and theme music finally. We also learn that Sting has accepted Steiner's challenge for later.
Vito gets the jump as Goldberg enters the ring, some rights, only to be sent off the ropes, avoids a powerslam and hits a Mafia Kick, only for Goldberg to bounce off the ropes and hit a spear. Jackhammer for the win in 38 seconds.
Goldberg leave and Johnny the Bull enters the ring with a kendo stick, wailing away. Goldberg returns to the ring when he hears the attack. Johnny misses a stick shot and hit with a pumphandle suplex. Johnny eats a spear and a jackhammer and... gets the pin? There was never a bell to start another match. First Goldberg somehow picks up two wins in a handicap match, now he picks up a win in a non-match. Nothing makes sense. Still watching Goldberg kick ass is still entertaining. Now Kronik come out. Vito's back to his feet. Oh we have the audio issues again and... nothing happens.
Commercial
Someone arrives in a Mercedes.
Hardcore Match: "That 70s Guy" Mike Awesome vs David Flair
Awesome wastes no time getting on the attack, then we have a bit of back forth until David's hit with a clothesline. There are some weapons set at ringside inside trash cans and Awesome tosses one into the ring. David tries to beg him off, but it's just to lure him to the corner, Awesome going face first into the can. Trash can to the head of Awesome, then across the back. David goes up top only to get the can thrown at him, then he's thrown off the top ala Ric. Scoop slam and a splash by Awesome, cover for two.
David sent to the corner, turned inside out to the apron and clotheslined out to the floor. David face first off the guard rail, then whipped over it into the crowd. Awesome dives over the rail into David with a shoulder block, then they return to the ring area. Chair to the head of David before returning to the ring. More rights in the corner by Awesome, then gets a running start but David gets a foot up. Low blow by David then some chops in the corner, but Awesome no sells and David struts, turning around into a clothesline. Scoop slam by Awesome and some stomps, then Awesome goes up top with a frog splash halfway across the ring. Awesome Bomb for the win in 4:32. I'm not sure why this was a hardcore match, barely any weapons were used. It was fine though.
We find out that Ric was the one who arrived in the Mercedes as he steps out. Awesome pummels David a little more than pulls out a table, setting it up next to the ring. Awesome returns to the ring and prepares to Awesome Bomb David over the ropes through the table, but Ric comes out with a mic to make the save. Awesome peaces out. David wants nothing to do with him though and Ric follows him to the back.
Guns is backstage to get help from Kwee-Wee and make her Canadian outfit less hideous. But Storm drags her off before she can get anything.
Commercial
Team Canada make their way out. Storm has a mic to be serious for a minute and makes it clear he has as much tolerance for the Aussies as he does for Americans. Elix has tape measure because Lance heard they had a local ring crew and he wants to make sure it wasn't the same morons who set up the gymnastic equipment at the Olympics. It turns out the top rope is an inch and a half too low, and he says if being right were an Olympic event he'd have a gold medal. He calls for everyone to stand for the anthem and get at least one thing right. Filthy Animals sans Juvie interrupt.
WCW Canadian Heavyweight Championship: Konnan vs Lance Storm (c)
Konnan and Lance start with a bit of chain wrestling. Filthy Animals and Team Canada were out there to start but they head to the back. Lance sent off the ropes, through the legs, back elbow, only to be pulled into a knee to the gut, La Magistral by Konnan for two. Konnan shoulder first into the ring post, then a suplex by Storm, cover for two. Lance with some slaps, then Konnan with body shots only to be caught with a jawbreaker, then a dropkick. Konnan face first in the corner, then a backbreaker by Lance, cover for two. Konnan counters a suplex with a small package and nearly gets two, then ducks a clothesline and they hit each other with clotheslines.
Scoop slam by Storm before going up top and misses a fling headbutt. Rolling thunder lariat by Konnan, then Storm sent off the ropes, mule kick and a facebuster by Konnan. Konnan sent to the corner, goes up and over, misses a clothesline... I think Douglas is late on his cue here because there's a few times during this sequence where Konnan and Lance look toward the ramp, and they look lost a couple times. Anyways Douglas attacks Konnan from behind, Lance with a bridging Northern Lights but it only gets two. Konnan sent to the corner, gets a foot up but Lance catches it, dragon screw into the Maple Leaf for the win in 4:38. Another fine match until Douglas screwed up.
Sting is on his way to the ring and Steiner is getting ready, their match next.
Commercial
Sting and Steiner make their way out. Then Jarrett comes out in a ref shirt as Tony gets word from Sanders that he's the ref for this match. He's also washed off the Surfer Sting face paint.
Sting vs Scott Steiner (w/ Midajah)
Jeff Jarress as special guest referee.
Sting and Jarrett have words and Sting gets him by the throat, then Steiner tries to pry him off until Jarrett boots him. Sting sent to the corner for boots from Steiner, then some rights and chops. Sting sent across the ring and catches Steiner with a back elbow, then some boots and rights of his own in the corner. Jarrett holds Sting back and Steiner delivers a knee to the midsection before tossing him out to the floor. Steiner whipped into the guard rail. then Sting attacks Jarrett. Hip toss and a clothesline, then one for Steiner. Inverted atomic drop to Jarrett and he and Steiner are in opposite corners now. Mounted rights to Steiner in the corner, then leaps off to clothesline Jarrett. Jarrett counters an Irish whip to send Sting into a spinning belly to belly by Steiner. Cover and a fast count for two.
Backbreaker by Steiner, then Sting put in a tree of woe. Steiner cranks back on the neck from the floor and Jarrett lays into him with boots. A regular referee comes in but Steiner lays him out. Military press by Steiner and a cover for two. Steiner with some boots, then a t-bone suplex, and some push-ups. Sting face first in the corner, then a block and Steiner face first in the corner, before delivering a low blow. More boots and rights in the corner by Steiner and some more push-ups. Sting fights back only to be thumbed in the eye, sent to the corner but gets a boot up.
Stinger Splash connects, then goes for another but Jarrett blocks him, so Sting decks him. Steiner has rolled out of the ring as Steiner is sent into the guard rail, then Jarrett, then Steiner nails him in the back with his lead pipe. Sting stumbles over the steps, then sent shoulder first into them. Sting is carried back in the ring, Steiner covers, Jarrett makes the slowest count ever as Cat and Booker in a ref shirt are late on cue, because Jarrett should have counted three by the time they got down there. Cat pulls Jarrett out and they head to the back as Booker enters the ring. Suplex by Steiner, Booker counts but stops before the three. Steiner misses a pair of clotheslines, Harlem Side Kick and the Deathdrop for the win in 6:54. You know this show was actually alright until this overbooked main event. The live crowd ate it up though so I guess there's that.
There's only 10 seconds left in the show once the bell rings, so Sting and Booker celebrate until it fades out.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
Well the best I could say about the show is that it was at least coherent. Nothing particularly great, a few bad things, mostly alright things, but there was nothing that made me wanna tear my hair out and there was a good flow to this show. Main event was the only real terrible thing on this show, and even then the crowd at least loved it. It took six months worth of shows to get to a Nitro that was actually alright. With a run time of 1:31:27, there was a total 35:12 of wrestling.
Thunder
Jarrett., Steiner and Midajah arrives and immediately Steiner grabs a nearby Stasiak by the throat, pinning him to the wall and wanting to know where Russo is. Stasiak tells them Sanders is in charge and Steiner wants Booker tonight.
Still in Brisbane for this edition of Thunder. Tony welcomes us to the show, unfortunately joined by Madden instead of Tenay, as we get right to a match.
The Franchise & Lance Storm (WCW Canadian Heavyweight Champion) (w/ Torrie Wilson & Major Guns) vs Gen. Rection & Konnan (w/ Tygress)
Pre-Match: Douglas gets a mic as always. He's gonna talk real slow and simple Konnan and all the low IQ, American wannabe Aussies can understand, he hears Konnan and Tygress want a piece of twisted steel and sex appeal. He tells Konnan to take his calendar and mark down the PPV, because he just booked a date to get his ass franchised. Torrie takes the mic to make it clear she comes from America, and is a civilized woman unlike the Aussies in attendance and deserves better than that hellhole of a country. Lance interrupts her tirade with a mic of his own. Lance wants to be serious a minute and says the country was founded by con artists and con men basically so he's not expecting much from this crowd, but asks them to prove him wrong and rise for the anthem. Of course he's interrupted as always.
Douglas already hit with a rolling thunder lariat and Lance is knocked out by a clothesline from Rection. Douglas and Konnan start once all four regroup, Konnan shoved into the corner, then they trade shots. Douglas sent off the ropes, leapfrogged, Lance tags in as Konnan tries a facebuster but Lance hits him with a springboard clothesline. Knees in the corner by Lance, then Douglas back in. Konnan sent off the ropes into a boot and a running knee lift. Lance back in. Konnan sent into the corner for a clothesline from Lance, then Douglas in again. Snapmare and a dropkick from Douglas, then Lance in again. Rapid boots in the corner, then Konnan sent off the ropes into a dropkick, Lance covers for two. Konnan fighting back, Lance sent into the corner, gets a boot up then tripped up by Guns. He and Konnan take each other out with clotheslines, then Torrie throws Guns to the floor.
Tygress joins in on the fight and the ref is busy separating them, while Rection gets the tag and lays into Storm and Douglas. Douglas clotheslined out to the floor, then Storm off the ropes into a powerslam from Rection. Rection goes up top with an elbow and a cover, but Douglas breaks it up with his inverted snapmare, followed by a DDT. Kidman comes out of nowhere to hit the Kid Crusher and Rection hits the top rope moonsault for the win in 4:22. It was off to a fine start and quickly turned into an overbooked mess.
Storm drags Guns to the back.
Commercial
Stasiak is in Sanders' office to tell him about his encounter with Steiner earlier. Sanders already has Booker scheduled for a non-title match to soften him up and tries to have Stasiak go tell him that. Stasiak has none of it.
Cat and Ms. Jones make their way out. He has some kind of announcement to make, but first he wants to apologize to some person, a legit karate champion, he kicked ass all over the place, the newest WCW superstar Sam Greco. He was the athlete previously mentioned in the crowd on Nitro. So Sam comes out and warms up the crowd a bit. Then he introduces himself to the American crowd and thanks WCW for the opportunity, plus his fellow Aussies, and he'll do his part to defend Australia's name.
Now out come the Thrillers. Sanders asks how Cat has the authority to hire anyone and Cat says he hired his mom the night before. He reminds us Russo gave him power and pull, and I'm pretty sure Cat makes a masturbation joke but the entire comment is censored out. He books Sanders in a match against "fat ass" Mark Madden. Sanders has no problem with that, then Sanders books Cat into a match with Nash. Then Cat changes his mind and books Sanders in a match with Sting instead. Thrillers make their way down to the ring and Sanders sends Stasiak in, but he eats a roundhouse from Greco. Cat's music hits as the Thrillers help Stasiak out of the ring. Commentary couldn't stop ragging on Greco but he cut a better promo than most o this roster.
Goldberg is getting ready.
Commercial
Sanders tells his guys not to worry about Greco, and sends Jindrak and O'Haire to take care of some business. Stasiak is icing his face.
WCW World Tag Team Championships: Mark Jindrak & Sean O'Haire (c) vs Cpl. Cajun & Lt. Loco
Jindrak and Loco start the match. Loco has control to start with a side headlock at the start, only to be shoved off toward the ropes, kneed in the back by Sean. Sean tries to hang him up on the top rope but Loco screws it up, then he's caught with a torture rack neckbreaker. Sean tags in. Jindrak with a monkey flip sends Loco into a clothesline from Sean. Rights in the corner to Loco, then Loco with rights and chops, then Sean sent across the ring, then Loco nailed with an elbow, ducks a clothesline and botches hopping to the top rope, so he hits a crossbody from the middle into a cover for two.
Cajun tags in. Jindrak knocked off the apron, then Loco back in, Sean sent off the ropes into a drop toe hold, then a dropkick to the side of the head. Cajun back in, sent off the ropes, caught off a crossbody attempt, then Loco dropkicks him into Sean for a cover and two. Loco goes up top as Cajun scoops up Sean, sidewalk slam/elbow drop combo and another cover for twol. Loco sent off the ropes, through the legs, caught with a jawbreaker and a right from Jindrak who tags in. Boots in the corner then a double hip toss across the ring by the champs. Loco sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline but eats a lariat on the rebound. Loco off the ropes again, floats over into a DDT.
Cajun gets the hot tag and in comes Sean. Cajun with a DDT to Sean, but eats a tilt-a-whirl side slam by Jindrak. Loco goes up top with a missile dropkick to Sean. Cajun covers as Loco is dumped over by Jindrak and Cajun only gets one. Cajun set up top, Jindrak with a Frankensteiner, then Sean goes up top but he's knocked to the floor by Loco. Dropkick to the back by Cajun sends Jindrak face first into the turnbuckle, then Loco with the frog splash and a cover but Sean breaks it up. Loco is tossed back out to the floor, then Cajun sent off the ropes, ducks a double clothesline, Loco trips up and pulls out Sean as Cajun gets Jindrak with a hurricanrana and... wins the titles? (5:27)
Well out comes Sanders to introduce the new tag team champions, however he's giving Jindrak and O'Haire their rematch immediately.
WCW World Tag Team Championships: Mark Jindrak & Sean O'Haire vs Cpl. Cajun & Lt. Loco (c)
Jindrak & O'Haire try to roll them up immediately as the bell rings but they only get two. Loco ducks a clothesline but eats a big boot. Cajun sent off the ropes, popped up into a powerslam into a cover but Loco breaks it up. The live crowd are chanting "bullshit". Loco tossed back out. Cajun sent off the ropes, double leapfrog, Loco back in to clothesline Jindrak, then Cajun up top, Sean with a side kick to Loco as Cajun hits a crossbody for a cover but Jindrak makes the save.
Loco with a kick to the side of Jindrak's head from the middle rope. Cajun sent off the ropes, gets Jindrak with a sunset flip but Sean makes the save. Cajun sent off the ropes again and goes for a sunset flip but Sean holds Jindrak up, until Loco nails him from behind. Cajun completes the flip for a count of two. Cajun tries for a hurricanrana on Jindrak but Sean nails him with one of the belts. Jindrak covers but Loco makes the save. Loco knocked out of the ring. Seanton Bomb to get the titles back in 2:24.
AWOL comes out to attack the new old champions, Chokeslam for both.
Pamela is backstage with Elix who has a message for Kidman. He spouts off about this being his house, then says he didn't give Kidman permission to interfere in Lance's match before challenging him for later.
Up next, Booker is on his way out.
Commercial
Back to Sanders' office. He tells Jindrak and O'Haire to go see Coach Nash and get checked out. Then he has a match for Palumbo tonight against Goldberg, pitching it as a chance to end the streak. Palumbo wants none of it and tries to volunteer Johnny, but Palumbo's the only healthy one they have, plus Johnny's already busy tonight.
Booker makes his way out with a mic for his match. He has a message for Steiner, says he can run around screaming and crying but until he meets Booker at the PPV it means nothing. Even if he hits him with his pipe, he just keeps getting up, and spouts off his catchphrase. As far as Sanders goes, he can send any of the "player haters" he wants, because he's gonna take them out.
Booker T (WCW World Heavyweight Champion) vs KroniK
Booker tries to get the jump but he's taken down immediately. Boots and rights in the corner, then Booker is clotheslined out to the floor. Awesome is on his way out.
Commercial
Sigh. It's time to get "down under and dirty" with the Lava Lamp Lounge. He's got a boomerang and didgeridoo on his set. He gets an "ozzy ozzy ozzy" thing going before bringing out his guests Kwee-Wee and Paisley. Also they still haven't fixed the audio, because the music is playing over him and you can barely hear a word he's saying. He asks Kwee-Wee what the issues are between him and the Thrillers, can't hear anything Kwee-Wee is saying but Awesome is busy hitting on Paisley. Awesome brings up how Kwee-Wee trained with the Thrillers before working in the fashion department. More hitting on. Kwee-Wee gets pissed off. Johnny the Bull nails Kwee-Wee from behind, then the Harris Brother break a board over his head, then Johnny breaks a jug over Kwee-Wee's head. One of the Brothers mention he has a match with Awesome later.
Goldberg is up next.

Sanders is getting ready in his office while Nash is on the phone. Nash wonders why he's wrestling Sting tonight, and Sanders explains it was because he booked Cat in a match with Nash, which gets his attention and he hangs up the phone. Nash makes some innuendo about going "down there" tonight, then he has an idea about Sanders' match with Sting.
Streak vs Career Match: "The Event" Chuck Palumbo (w/ Perfectshawn Stasiak) vs Goldberg (5-0)
Palumbo attacks immediately in the corner, then gets sent across the ring, gets a boot up, hits a clothesline but Goldberg stays up and nails one of his own. Stasiak clubs him in the back from the apron and Palumbo hits a DDT. Palumbo goes up top and hits a shoulder block but Goldberg doesn't go down. Stasiak tries to get involved but eats a spear, then Palumbo. Jackhammer for the win in 1:23. (6-0)
Jackhammer to Stasiak and... once again, he somehow gets another win in what isn't a match, or someone not in the match, so now he's 7-0. It occured to me that this is probably the quickest to give him 100+ wins so I guess it makes some kind of sense. And at least the live crowd eat it up.
Commercial
Replays of what just happened.
We hear from Schiavone that Palumbo and Stasiak were carted out on stretchers as Cat and Ms. Jones make their way out to join commentary for our next match. Then Sanders comes out. Then Surfer Jarrett makes his way out with a bat instead of the real Sting, posing and hollering in the corners before taking the mic. He lays down and offers Sanders just pin him like that and says that everyone knows he can't wrestle anymore and this will be great practice for when Jarrett beats the hell out of him at the PPV. So the ref calls for the bell, but then Sting's music hits again

It was a match that just... happened basically. Right team won at least.
Steiner and Midajah are up next.
Commercial
Steiner and Midajah come out. Steiner gets the mic and says all his hoochies come around when he comes to town, he talks about his freaks nationwide back in the states, but he's found out he's worldwide since coming to Australia. He says that night after night, he's taken freaks to the mountaintop and not only have they found the big O, found Nirvana, but the Big Bad Booty Daddy gave them sexual sanctuary.
Scott Steiner (w/ Midajah) vs Rey Mysterio Jr. (w/ Tygress)

Rey slid under the ropes right to the floor then some push-ups by Steiner. Rey sent into the guard rail then returns to the ring. Boots in the corner by Steiner, then choking him with his boot, then some chops. Rey with boots from his back only to be kicked back down, then face first into the corner viciously by Steiner. Wheelbarrow bulldog and some push-ups by Rey before going up top, goes for a crossbody but caught with an t-bone suplex. Rey is set down on the top rope and Steiner delivers a Samoan drop from the middle rope. Steiner Recliner for the win in 5:15. A fun little match here, though there were probably better choices than Rey to take a beating.
Nash is walking backstage.
Commercial
Sanders makes his way out to join commentary for the main event.
The Cat (w/ Ms. Jones) vs Kevin Nash
Sanders immediately leaves commentary to leap on the apron and cause a distraction. Nash clobbers Cat from behind, then an elbow to the back of the head. Nash with his typical offense in the corner. Nash offers a test of strength. Cat with some kicks instead, then off the ropes with a dropkick and a cover for two. Elbow drop by Cat and a cover for two. More kicks ad an uppercut by Cat and another cover for two. Cat sent off the ropes and Nash murders him with a big boot. Nash pulls down the straps and Cat prepares to kick him, then Sanders leaves commentary and nails him in the head with a chair. Cat wins by DQ in 2:27.
Nash isn't happy with it either. Sanders sets the chair up and motions for Nash to jackknife him onto it, but out comes Booker to make the save. Harlem Side Kick to Nash, clothesline to Sanders. Now Steiner runs out and nails him from behind. Out comes Sting now and lays into everyone. Stinger Splash to Nash, then the Deathdrop. Now Jarrett runs out as himself and the heels take control. Goldberg now runs out and lays out everyone until KroniK run out going for Goldberg, set him up for High Times amidst the chaos and... the show goes off the air before they deliver.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
Well this was a noticeable step down from Nitro, though still an improvement from the last several months. There were a few good matches here and there, and you could at least say the Aussie crowd ate up 90% of it, but still, not great. And while the main event was entirely pointless and boring it did lead to a decent brawl to end the show. With a run time of 1:26:35, this show had a total 39:14 of wrestling on the show.
