WCW Week of October 16, 2000 - WCW Goes Down Under, Pt. 2

Nitro
We're live from the Rob Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia as Schiavone welcomes us to the show. Stevie Ray is on commentary in place of Hudson as we get to right to the first match.

WCW World Tag Team Championships: Boogie Knights vs Mark Jindrak & Sean O'Haire (c)
Pre-Match: We're reminded of how Boogie Knights were screwed out of the tag titles last week, so as much as I can't stand Disco, at least this rematch makes sense. Wright gets a mic and starts speaking in German, then Disco takes the mic and says they spoke with Cat, who's decided the Thrillers are banned from ringside, nor can Sanders interfere.
Champs attack from behind, then sent off the ropes into akicks. Wright and Sean start this properly as Sean is sent off the ropes, boot by Wright, swinging neckbreaker by Disco off a tag, covers for two. Uppercut and boots in the corner from Wright, then Sean sent across the ring, Wright eats an elbow, but hits a powerslam into a cover for two. Disco back in. Wright with a snapmare, then a double ax from the middle rope from Disco, cover for two.
Disco sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline, tries to push Sean to the ropes into a roll up but Jindrak gets in a cheap shot. Sean with a clothesline and mounted rights. Disco sent off the ropes, double leapfrog, then Sean leapfrogs and Jindrak dropkicks. Disco sent off the ropes, catches Jindrak with a blow to the head, then to the middle rope only to be kicked by Sean from the apron. Disco set on the top rope, then Jindrak leaps up with a hurricanrana and a cover but Wright breaks it up.
Double atomic drop to Disco, then he's sent off the ropes, hooks the ropes to avoid a dropkick, then tags in Wright who goes up top and hits a missile dropkick, Dropkick to  Sean, then he ducks a spinning heel kick and Wright takes out the ref. Side kick from Sean and a DDT by Disco. Wright with a crossbody takes himself and Sean out to the floor, then Jindrak with a tilt-a-whirl side slam on Disco back in the ring. Jindrak misses a springboard splash and hits a stunner, but now Kronik rush out with the ref still down. Full nelson slam by Adams to Disco, then High Time to Wright before they leave. Seanton Bomb on Wright, Jindrak covers as Sean wakes up the ref to retain in 4:26. It was a fine little opener.

Sanders is with Nash, Stasiak and Palumbo backstage. Sanders says they're taking over WCW despite how much "hate-orade" is out there. Nash tells them to speak to Cat, but says he's hung over and wants the night off. They leave Nash.

Goldberg arrives on his motorcycle.

Commercial

Thrillers arrive at Cat's office. Sanders has an issue with Sting kicking his ass last week and says it's also a Nash problem. Cat claims Sting could kick Nash's ass too, so Sanders books a match between the two of them, and Cat goes a step further to make it a Lumberjack Match. He also has some big surprise for Sanders.

Team Canada come out, Storm with mic in hand. Storm wants to be serious and needs the fans undivided attention. He says Australia is wearing on him, says if he sees another cricket match, or hear one more "G'day mate" he's gonna be sick. He's only out there to give Rection a preview of what's in store at the PPV when they take out his MIA teammates. Fans are chanting something as he calls for the anthem to be played, but of course he's interrupted by MIA. AWOL sets a table up at ringside

Team Canada (w/ Major Guns) vs Sgt. AWOL, Cpl. Cajun & Lt. Loco
Elix and Loco start the match with a bit of back and forth, and immediately Rection appears from the crowd, pulling Lance off the apron. They go at it at ringside, then Storm sent into the guard rai. Boots and stomps by Rection until the ref sends him to the back. Back in the ring, Elix takes control and Duggan tags in. Loco sent off the ropes, caught and slammed in the corner, then a scoop slam. Elix back in. Loco off the ropes, flip over the back and hits a dropkick. AWOL tags in. Clothesline to Elix and rights to Duggan and Storm, then Elix avoids a big boot, but eats oe on the second try. AWOL tries a chokeslam but Lance dropkicks the back of the knee. Loco back in, to the top with a frog splash and a cover for two.
Elix counts an Irish whip and hits a belly to belly suplex. Storm tags in with boots in the corner, then Loco sent across the ring, gets a boot up, sunset flip for two. Loco catches a clothesline and tries a back suplex, then Storm tries to counter with a suplex, but Loco counters that with a DDT, making a cover but Elix breaks it up. MIA clear the ring of Canada, then Cajun comes in with some shake, rattle and roll. Duggan and AWOL fight up the ramp as Cajun is sent off the ropes, kneed in the back by Elix, Cajun ducks a clothesline and Lance nails the ref by accident.
Elix is dropkicked off the apron through a table that AWOL I guess set up. Guns slides a chair into the ring right in front of the referee's face, Cajun grabs it, but Lance dropkicks it back into his face. Chair shot to the head of Loco, Lance covers Cajun but he kicks out. Inside cradle by Cajun for two. Storm immediately transitions to the Maple Leaf for the win in 4:08. A little overbooked here, action was fine.

Sting has arrived.

Commercial

Out comes Franchise and Torrie and a mic. He calls Australia a third-world hell hole of a rock and says he's been stuck there a week now, that instead of getting the respect he deserves the Aussies are upset his country went down under and kicked their collective asses. Also something gets blurred out in the crowd, two circle blurs appear out of nowhere, I don't have the slightest clue what, then they start chanting something again that gets Shane in a bad mood. He hasn't been able to think of anything but kicking Konnan's... I think pansy ass? It gets censored. He calls out him and what's left of his rag tag group so he franchises all their asses right now.
Konnan has a mic as they come out and says Franchise has a head start with this handicap match, because he's already mentally handicapped. After they're done bouncing his ass all over Melbourne, he's going to take care of a problem Franchise has, says Torrie looks like he hasn't been serving her right, and Konnan will rectify that.

The Franchise (w/ Torrie Wilson) vs Konnan, Tygress & Rey Mysterio Jr.
They all get their shots in, then chops by Konnan and a rolling thunder lariat. Tygress with a Face Full of Stuff then a Bronco Buster by Rey. Franchise retreats to the floor and Konnan follows. Franchise uses her as a shield before spraying mace in Konnan's face, then Rey. Tygress tries to slap him but she's caught, then he and Torrie send her face first into the guard rail. Franchise wraps a chain around his fist and decks Konnan, then Douglas lays the boots in before the ref calls the match off in 1:20.

Konnan tries to help but he gets handcuffed to the middle rope instead. He gets hold of Torrie until Franchise beats him down. Twisting tombstone by Franchise to Rey.

Palumbo and Stasiak are watching backstage and are arguing about what happened with Goldberg last week before Nash walks up. Nash says you win some and lose some and tells them to shake hands and move on. Eventually they do.

Booker arrives.

Commercial

Rey is loaded into an ambulance clutching his neck, and Kidman's there too.

Those 70s Guys (Mike Awesome & Crowbar) vs Perfect Event
Kevin Nash on commentary.
Pre-Match: Oddly enough Awesome is back to wearing his old gear, with the black trunks, kneepads and boots. Stasiak's first match in what feels like ages.
Awesome and Palumbo start this match. Bit of a back and forth until Awesome hits a shoulder tackle. Nash also buries Event's theme music, which to be fair, it's a Mr. Perfect ripoff theme, so can't blame him. Crowbar tags in and hits a slingshot splash, then a springboard moonsault. Awesome with a splash and a cover and Stasiak breaks it up. Awesome is tossed out to the apron, then face first off the apron, before he's knocked off by Palumbo with a springboard dropkick from the corner. Awesome face first off the apron, then Stasiak tries to set him up for a baseball slide but Palumbo nails him instead. Argument between them as Crowbar nails them both with a dropkick through the ropes, then skins the cat. Then he low bridges so Awesome can fly over the ropes with a double clothesline.  Scoop slam to Palumbo and Stasiak sent into the guard rail, then Awesome sent into the guard rail. Splash off the apron by Crowbar to Palumbo on the floor. Back in the ring, Crowbar goes up top, then caught on Palumbo's shoulders for an electric chair.
Stasiak tags in as they get back in the ring, Crowbar sent off the ropes into a spinning back elbow. F5 by Stasiak and a cover but Awesome breaks it up. Palumbo back in with rights in the corner, then he's sent in the corner but gets Crowbar with a headscissor. Crowbar eats a standing side kick which sends him out to the floor. Crowbar counters an Irish whip and sends Palumbo into the guard rail, then a clothesline to Stasiak, then a hurricanrana to Palumbo. Back in the ring, slingshot legdrop to Stasiak and a cover for two.  Slingshot shoulder tackle by Awesome to Stasiak, then he's sent to the corner for a clothesline. Awesome goes up top but he's cut off by Palumbo. Stasiak joins him up top and hits a superplex, then a cover for two.
Staisak off the ropes and caught with a belly to belly. Palumbo nails him from behind, then Stasiak inadvertently drops him with a right, before he's caught with a German suplex by Awesome. Awesome up top with a frog splash for the win in 6 minutes. This was a bit of a mess.

Nash leaves commentary as Event start arguing, trying to pull them apart. He tries to get them to hug instead of shaking hands and he forces them to do it, but they shove each other away.

Pamela is backstage with Franchise and Torrie. He's pleased with his handiwork, and with the Animals out of the way he has larger fish to fry. He challenges Booker for a title shot tonight because he's tired of waiting for someone to throw something his way and it's time for a franchise champion in WCW. Torrie then tells Pamela not to hate her because she's beautiful, and tells her to start worrying about her job and calls her a bitch. Pamela also calls her one.

Commercial

David walks into Sanders' office. He wants Buff at the PPV in... a DNA Match? Despite not having a clue what it is, Sanders gives it to him, but he has an assignment for him tonight in exchange.

Kwee-Wee (w/ Paisley) vs Johnny the Bull
Kwee-Wee sends him into the corner and hits a money flip and Johnny lands awkwardly on his ankle instead of his back, so Kwee-Wee pins him immediately to win in 23 seconds.

Commercial

Replays of Bull's injury and we see him carted of during the commercial.

Cat and Ms. Jones make their way out. He tells Madden that he hates his fat ass before getting to business. He says WCW isn't big enough for two commissioners, so he's gonna kick his ass all over the place and end it tonight. Out comes Sanders with a mic. He says he doesn't have a lot of time for Cat's crap tonight, proposing they settle things at the PPV instead for the commissionership. They say they'll whip each other's asses in Vegas and Cat accepts the challenge. Sanders calls Jones a Cheese Whiz sucking trailer trash hoochie and Cat calls his mom fat.
Now Kronik come out. Sanders says something but the audio is all screwed up and can't hear a damn word he says. Cat calls them the cheap chronic and says he had better last night. Sanders sends them after Cat until Goldberg's music hits, and Sanders runs behind them. Kronik head up the ramp and lie in wait but he's nowhere to be seen. Goldberg comes in from behind and gets in the ring instead. Sanders says their match won't happen tonight but Clark says he doesn't own them and that they beat people up for free, they're all about breaking necks and cashing checks. Adams says the problem is wrestlers start believing their own hype, that Goldberg isn't indestructible, and if he believes he can beat them both he's being unrealistic, but they take they take that as an insult. He says they're going to take his career, his streak and a bowl of porridge to shove up his ass...? Um... OK.
Goldberg scares Sanders and says Kronik is next. Security have to get between them, plus Jindrak and O'Haire. Well that was a whole lot of nothing.

Booker is on his way to the ring.

Commercial

Sanders back in his office with David. He leads David elsewhere.

Franchise and Torrie are already in the ring for this next match.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship: The Franchise (w/ Torrie Wilson) vs Booker T (c)
Scott Steiner on commentary.
Konnan and Tygress are seen returning from the hospital and he tells her to wait in the dressing room while he does something. Franchise immediately retreats between the ropes in the corner before Booker hits a shoulder block off a lock up. Douglas with a knee before sending Booker face first in the corner, then Booker sent across the ring, Douglas caught with an elbow and a spin kick. Standing side kick from Booker, then some chops across the chest. Booker sent off the ropes, tripped up by Torrie, cut to the crowd for some reason before Booker is clotheslined to the floor. Booker catches him with a gut punch as he leaps off the apron, then Booker sent into the guard rail, followed by a clothesline. Booker dropped onto the guard rail before returning to the ring, Douglas up top with a clothesline and a cover for two.
Douglas cranks the neck until Booker gets to his feet, then thrown down and Douglas applies a rear chinlock. Steiner questions why Douglas isn't going after the knee which is a good point. Now a surfboard by Douglas.. Booker fights back to his feet, only to be caught with a front suplex, followed by his inverted snapmare. Booker choked over the middle rope, then some shots in the corner and some mounted rights. Steiner now taking shots about how Booker doesn't know his mother, and how Booker's from Harlem and Stevie's from Poughkeepsie and questions if they're actually brothers. Then he points out how Booker and Stevie have different last names to prove his point further. Snapmare by Douglas and a neckbreaker. More neck cranking. Booker back to his feet, then Douglas with a thumb to the eye, Booker sent to the corner, tries to flip over with a roll up but Douglas rolls through, misses a clothesline and Booker hits a neckbreaker.
Booker counters an Irish whip and hits a spinebuster, then some rights, Booker counters an Irish whip to set up for the scissor kick and a spinaroonie. Harlem Side Kick connects and Torrie hands Douglas his chain. Kidman comes out to stop him from using it, but he gets knocked off the apron and into Midajah who's sat on the commentary table. Steiner nails him from behind and Douglas covers for two. Kidman sent into the guard rail, now Jarrett and Konnan are out and they go at it, Konnan sent into the guard rail. Douglas off the rmiddle rope and caught with the Book End to retain in 9:07. Yeah not a great match, honest Steiner and Stevie on commentary were the best part. I don't get why Jarrett was out here when he's in a feud with Sting. Douglas not going for the knee also made him look dumb.

Commercial

Replays of the finish as well as Kidman bumping into Midajah.

Pamela is backstage with Jarrett, Steiner and Midajah. Midajah cuts a promo on Kidman in Spanish and despite that she still gets censored. Steiner also gets censored cussing out Kidman and his business, but putting his hands on Steiner's favorite freak makes it his business. He likens Kidman to a lamb out to slaughter and says he's going to crush him. He and Midajah leave.
Jarrett calls her a blonde slap nuts and turns his attention to the Animals and how they've already been to the hospital once, so he's going to give the opportunity to stay there tonight, because for a guy who spends so much time talking about... uh, censored, Konnan's gonna be happy as hell, when he sticks the guitar up his ass.

Commercial

David ias in the ring already and Ric's music hits as he comes out, but not to see David, he's here to join commentary for a match I guess.

Streak vs Career: David Flair vs Goldberg (9-0)
Ric Flair on commentary.
David gets some shots and chops in, then a right from Goldberg drops him. David killed with a spear, then a Jackhammer for the win in 1:07. (10-0)

Ric looks on and Goldberg leaves. Ric goes to check on David.

Pamela is backstage with Kidman and Konnan. Kidman says he and the Animals are as tight as Pam is in her top and that'll never change. Then he tells Steiner not to get jealous, he doesn't want Midajah, nobody does which is why she's with Steiner, accepting his challenge to a match. He says he can't outpower Steiner but he can sure outthink him, and he's one tough little bastard.
Konnan calls Jarrett a jackass, making fun of his tired ass delivery, and says it'll take more than pepper spray to keep him down. With Rey and Juvie out he welcomes Kidman back to the group because they need him more than ever, and though he can talk about Douglas and his wild slumber party [censored] it's on at the PPV. He calls Jarrett a hillbilly and says he chose the right person to bust his ass, so he also accepts his challenge.

Commercial

Scott Steiner (w/ Midajah) vs Kidman
Pre-Match: Steiner gets the mic like always and says he's picked up a saying since coming to Australia, with the "Aussie Aussie Aussie, oi oi oi" chant. Ever since he met most of the white trash, he's got a little saying of his own, which gets censored. Steiner randomly attacks a front row fan as Kidman is making his entrance. I don't know why he's down to just one name now, but alright, that's what the graphic says and Penzer announces him as such.
Steiner with a knee to the gut right away, then some boots in the corner and some rights. Kidman sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline, popped up and hits a dropkick, but it just bounces Steiner off the ropes and he hits a clothesline, followed by an elbow. Military press by Steiner and some push-ups, then some more boots and rights in the corner Kidman sent across the ring, gets an elbow, tries a suplex but eats a t-bone. Steiner goes for a powerbomb but caught with a facejam, Kidman covers for two. Kidman goes up top but gets crotched,, and Steiner hits a Samoan drop from the middle rope. Recliner for the win in 2:16. Fun squash match.

Commercial

Jeff Jarrett vs Konnan (w/ Tygress)
Pre-Match: Apparently Jarrett is getting a World Title shot the night after the PPV? This news to me.
Konnan does his shtick with Tygress before the match only to be nailed from behind by Jarrett.  Jarrett stomping away, then some rights, only to be sent off the ropes into a hop toss. Rolling thunder lariat by Konnan and Jarrett rolls out to the floor. Konnan pulled under the ropes and sent into the guard rail, then again, then a  chair into the ribs, then the back. Back in the ring, more stomps by Jarrett, then Konnan sends him off the ropes, tries a roll up, then Konnan reverses into a pin, and Jarrett reverses that with a sunset flip for two.
Clothesline by Jarrett, then sent off the ropes, Konnan leapfrogs and hits a facebuster. Jarrett sat in the corner for a hip attack, then Tygress comes in to hit Face Full of Stuff, but Douglas comes out and grabs her by the hair. Then Torrie comes out as Douglas is slapped. Tygress goes after Torrie, Konnan pulls her away, Jarrett tries to nail him with the guitar but Tygress gets it instead. Jarrett jabs Konnan with the guitar head and hits the Stroke for the win in 2:54.

Jarrett puts him in the Scorpion Deathlock as Sting looks on backstage, throwing a chair across the room.

Commercial

Footage of Nash at the XXXX Brewery.

Lumberjack Match: Kevin Nash vs Sting
Lumberjacks: Team Canada, Harris Brothers, Boogie Knights, Those 70s Guys, The Franchise, Torrie Wilson, Big Vito, MIA, Kwee-Wee, Paisley, Booker T, The Cat, Ms Jones & Natural Born Thrillers
Pre-Match: No sign of Jarrett oddly enough.
Nash with a knee and an elbow immediately, taking Sting to the corner for his usual offense. Sting avoids a powerslam and delivers some shots of his own, then a dropkick sends Nash over the ropes to the floor. Babyfaces attack and toss him back in. Sting goes for the leg with some kicks, then a chop block. Elbows to the back of the knee, then gets him in the Deathlock. Thrillers pull him to the ropes and out of the ring to force a break. Nash regroups  but Sting gets the leg as he's stepping over the ropes. Stinger Splash is blocked with a boot by Nash, then Sting sent off the ropes into a sidewalk slam, cover for two forNash.
Snake eyes by Nash, then drops down on Sting's back as he's draped over the middle rope. Neck vice by Nash, then Steiner runs out with Midajah to attack Booker. They fight up the aisle with Booker taking control and the rest of the lumberjacks start fighting. Nash is still twisting Sting's neck as all the lumberjacks fight to the back. Now Kronik come out to join in. Sting gets some shots in followed by some clotheslines.Nash sent to the corner and a Stinger Splash connects. Dropkick to the back sandwiches the ref in the corner, then more so with a Stinger Splash to the back of Nash. Jarrett comes out through the crowd with a guitar and Stinger goes for another splash, smashed with the guitar midair. Nash falls back on top for the win in 7:06. I see we're back to the overbooked mess main events, oh joy.

Madden claims Jarrett was a lumberjack which made that perfectly legal. Sure, why not? Fans are not happy, throwing trash in the ring. Nash and Jarrett leave as the show fades out.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
Well that was a complete mess. Couple of decent matches in the beginning, then a bunch of crap throughout the show, sprinkled with some meh stuff. Not much else to say here. With a run time of 1:26:20, this show had a total 38:47 of wrestling.

Thunder
Still in Melbourne for the last show down under. Thunder's regular team is on commentary. We go to some footage of Sam Greco training between footage of his appearance last week, who's set to be interviewed later in the show.

Welcomed by Schiavone before Rey and Tygress, who's in a neck brace, make their way out, followed by Sanders with a mic, set to have a match. He says Nash has been doing a heck (sure not to say hell) of a job coaching the Thrillers, and with his knowledge and power, he's sure the Thrillers will kick so much "hiney" (again sure not to say ass) they'll have all the gold in WCW. He says that Cat is in a match at the PPV unfortunately, but now it's going to be a three-round kickboxing match. He says Cat might be good at what he does but he's nowhere near the great, he's no Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, Sean O'Haire, and though he might know karate he knows how to kick ass.
He informs Rey that this will be no-title, because he's still within his 30 days to defend, but now Cat comes out with Ms. Jones. He might not be able to make Sanders put his title on the line, but he does make it No DQ. He might even let the fans get in the ring to rip Sanders apart. As far as the kickboxing match, he says he hasn't lost in three years, that if Sanders can beat him he'll crawl across the ring, kiss Sanders' dirty, nasty, cheap shoes and say he's the greatest. He says though that Rey will pull the toupee off his head and tells Rey to kill his ass.

No Disqualification Match: Rey Mysterio Jr. (w/ Tygress) vs "Above Average" Mike Sanders (WCW Cruiserweight Champion)
The Cat on commentary.
Rey attacks from behind and sends him face first into the middle turnbuckle, then a leg drop and a cover for two. Rey sent into the corner and gets a boot up, then Sanders sent across the ring and hit with a bulldog. Schiavone also mentions something called the Countdown to Armageddon in the main event, with the winner getting a World Title shot the night after the PPV. Rey with a springboard splash and a cover for two. Pumphandle suplex by Sanders and a cover for two.
Cobra clutch by Sanders, then Rey gets out, avoids a clothesline and hits a bulldog. Rey sento the corner and hits a spinning heel kick. Sanders face bounced off each turnbuckle in the corner, then Rey follows with a Bronco Buster. Rey tries an arm drag from the top but he gets crotched, before Sanders turns his attention to Cat. Ms. Jones slaps him in the face and Cat tosses him back in the ring, Springboard leg drop to the back of the head from Rey and a cover but Sanders kicks out. Rey sent off the ropes, springboards onto Sanders' shoulders into a victory roll for the win in 3:26. It was OK.

Pamela is backstage with Torrie and Douglas, who's in the Countdown to Armageddon main event. Douglas says he'd franchise her for being a smart alec if she were taller, then shows us the footage of Kidman getting involved in his match on Nitro, blaming him for his loss. He says that changes tonight and after the PPV there's no stopping him, he's rumbling through Big Vito, winning the Countdown, straight to the top.

Commercial

After a promo for Goldberg vs Kronik at the PPV, Goldberg arrives and gets ambushed by Kronik.

Over to commentary to explain the main event. It's a Royal Rumble match, except there's a much shorter interval of 30 seconds between entrants. Also tonight, Cat has booked Jindrak and O'Haire to defend their titles against Booker and Sting.

Big Vito vs The Franchise (w/ Torrie Wilson)
We get a bit of chain wrestling to start the match which Vito gets the better of. More chain wrestling and some back and forth until Douglas is caught with an atomic drop, followed by an uppercut. Vito sent off the ropes, only to back drop Douglas out to the floor.  Douglas is tossed back in but Vito gets hung up on the top rope,  then sent to the corner, misses a splash and hits a back suplex. Vito goes up top and hits a flying headbutt, makes the cover but Torrie gets on the apron for a distraction.
Mafia Kick by Vito despite the distraction and Vito goes back up top to hit the flying elbow, covers, Torrie back on the apron as Douglas kicks out. Douglas tries to attack from behind but Vito gets him with an elbow, then back to Torrie to get in her face. Torrie tosses the chain to Douglas and decks Vito, then the Pittsburgh Plunge for the cover, but Vito kicks out. Vito catches him by surprise with a rollup but Douglas kicks out. Exchange of rights now until Vito's caught with the Franchiser for the win in 4:46. Better than I expected, but still a nothing match.

Goldberg is hunting for Kronik backstage and bumps into one of the Harris Twins. He says something we can't hear and Goldberg decks him.

Commercial

Pamela is with Awesome and Crowbar, who are also in the main event. Crowbar says he's all about making love, not about fighting and violence, so he takes the chance to hit on her. Awesome criticizes him on his technique and tells him to go back to the bus, Crowbar leaving him to seal the deal. Awesome says it's his big chance to step up, because after he wins he's gonna be the next champion. I might like this if I could take this guy seriously for even a second, but I can't.

Boogie Knights vs The Harris Brothers(?)
Pre-Match: Wright cuts a promo in German, then Disqo steals Konnan's shtick with Tygress with Penzer and the duck, then says they're opponents aren't cool, they're like Australians, but him and Wright have got it like that. Don makes his way out, but I guess Ron is still laid out after the attack by Goldberg.
Don takes Disqo to the corner, then he's sent across the ring for a clothesline, then back across for another, followed by a big boot and another clothesline. Don tries to come off the ropes but gets kneed in the back by Wright, then Disqo with a swinging neckbreaker. Wright tags in and goes up top, missile dropkick/Russian leg sweep combo and a cover for two. Wright stomping away, then Disqo gets in some shots from the apron before tagging in. Snapmare by Disqo before going to the middle rope, missing a double ax. Don with a spinning side slam and a cover but Wright breaks it up.
Uppercut by Wright, then a Russian leg sweep/clothesline combo before a double clothesline sends Don out to the floor. Out comes Ron now, Wright sent out to the floor. Diso hit with a back suplex from the middle rope, then some clotheslines. Wright sent into the guard rail by Don. Ron with a powerslam, then elbow drops the duck a few times before tossing it to the crowd. Double big boot to Wright, then a double facebuster. Wright sent off the ropes, catches one with a DDT, the other hits a big boot. Sidewalk slam to Wright, then Disqo hits him with something. Flying clothesline by Disqo for the win in  4:44.

Pamela is with Team Canada. Elix is facing Goldberg tonight, and all three are also in the main event along with MIA. Storm says their war with MIA dies at the PPV when he and Duggan end Rection's career. He says no one deserves a World Title shot more than him, even if he has to beat the whole company, including his own partners.  Duggan and Elix then both lay claim to that title shot and they argue a bit.

Commercial

Steiner and Midajah bump into Pamela. He's also in the main event. Steiner says he's going to have his own battle royal of love in Caligula Suite 609 and invites her to come along. She declines and says everyone's fighting for second place tonight before leaving.

Streak vs Career: "Prime Time" Elix Skipper vs Goldberg (10-0)
Pre-Match: Skipper comes out with a mic. He tells the live crowd they should recognize a real athlete, a Canadian one, says he dominated at the Olympics. Goldberg makes his way in behind Elix as he's spouting off. Elix says it's primetime and that he built that house, not Ric Flair, not Sting, not Booker T, and it damn sure wasn't Goldberg. Now they play Goldberg's music, because I guess the production trucks wants to fuck with him, and they both move so that Elix doesn't see him, turning toward the ramp.
Elix finally realizes he's behind him and gets some shots in, then Goldberg catches a kick, picks him up several feet in the air and drives him down. Military press into a front slam. Elix gets killed with a spear (Schiavone: I think he's dead) and a jackhammer for the win in 1:13. (11-0)

Goldberg picks up the mic and accepts that Kronik are some bad dudes, but says that fear creates a need, and they sure as hell need each other, but he doesn't need anyone. He says if they're fortunate to make it to the PPV they're both next. Replay of the spear and jackhammer.

Pamela's with Jarrett now. He's teaming with Steiner to take on Kidman and Konnan tonight in addition to being in the main event, plus she wants to hear about his PPV match. He's amazed she remembered all that and figures Okerlund's still working with her. He continues to insist that Sting is a shell of his former self, and after he retires his ass at the PPV, there's no better way to celebrate than winning the title for the 5th time. He vows to win the main event before marching on to his 5th reign. She mentions how Steiner already vowed to win himself, but Jarrett thinks she's just trying to cause dissension, but says it won't work and tells her to choke on it, before saying he'll straighten Steiner out.

Commercial

Jeff Jarrett & Scott Steiner (w/ Midajah) vs Kidman & Konnan (w/ Tygress)
Steiner and Kidman start the match. Kidman with some rights only to be sent off the ropes into a clothesline, then aln elbow. Military press by Steiner launches Kidman high, then some push-ups. Boots and rights in the corner from Steiner, then some chops before setting Kidman on the top rope. Konnan helps to fight him off as Kidman goes up top with a missile dropkick. Steiner sent off the ropes, ducks a double clothesline, Kidman drops Jarrett, but Steiner delivers a t-bone to Konnan.
Jarrett makes the tag, stomping away on Konnan, then sends him to the corner, Konnan goes up and over and hits a clothesline, then a rolling thunder lariat before doing some push-ups to mock Steiner. Facebuster to Jarrett, then sends him in the corner, Jarrett gets a boot up and hits a lariat of his own. Konnan sent to the corner, Jarrett misses an elbow, Kidman tags in and goes up top with a spinning back elbow. Dudley Dog from Kidman, then he's sent off the ropes, through the legs, sitout spinebuster into a pin and Jarrett gets a shoulder up, while Konnan and Steiner start fighting on the floor.
Torrie comes out now. Kidman up top only to be crotched, and Torrie drags Tygress by the injured neck to the back. Jarrett nails Konnan with a guitar as Steiner returns to the ring, Samoan drop from the middle rope to Kidman, then the Recliner for the win in 4:02. Alright I liked this match, even though Torrie getting involved did nothing.

Goldberg is still in the building. Then a preview of the Greco interview.

Commercial

Ric Flair arrives in a limo. Apparently Madden's interviewing him later.

Pamela's with Booker, ahead of his tag title match later, but despite being the champion he's also in the main event along with Sting. Booker wants to talk about the Thrillers, says they're cocky as champions, and though they might have skill, they've never faced a team like him and Sting. He tells them to be ready to be served by the big boys in WCW, but as far as the main event goes, he says Steiner can take out Sting if he wants, it's not about who watches his back or their team. He says if he wins tonight he gets a shot at his title just in case he slips on a banana peel at the PPV, tells Steiner there's no way out and that he's coming for him and him only.

Now for the Greco interview, done by Schiavone earlier in the day. Tony puts him over and his accomplishment and welcomes Greco to the company. He calls Greco one of Australia's most decorated athletes and asks why he made the move to WCW. Greco says it's been a childhood dream, and he's been champion in kickboxing and karate and says he's all about challenges, and he thought there was a challenge there, it's time to attack.
Tony says he's an offensive person, an aggressive fighter, and asks how Greco is gonna have to change his style. Greco says he's given it a lot of thought, he doesn't think he needs to change it.
Tony says they've been there for 10 days now, and they've seen him hang out with Goldberg, so he wants to learn about Greco's relationship with one of their biggest stars. He calls Goldberg a great role model and an ambassador for pro wrestling, and he treats himself the same way of all sports. He brings up Goldberg's college football background as well as the NFL and says he can relate to him, because he's tenacious, ferocious, brings his determination and aggressiveness, and that's what Greco's all about.
Tony asks what the #1 thing is that Greco brings to the table. Greco says it's a combination of what he listed off, plus the ability of martial arts, something he thinks has been lacking for many years. Tony brings up Cat and his shoot fighting background, and how he's become more of a commissioner, but figures Greco wants to compete in the ring. Greco puts over Cat, says he's great at what he does and respects him for his martial arts background and as a person, but he's going to bring something totally different to the table. He likens it as a combination as the leadup of a Rocky movie and Goldberg intensity.
Tony talks about how great it's been for WCW to be in Australia and it'll make Greco a bigger star than he already is. Greco didn't expect it to be so big but it's blown the roof off the country, but they also had the Olympics the week before and WCW's tagged along with it, says it's fantastic.
Tony says plenty of people come in saying they want to be World Champion, and obviously it's the same for Greco, but asks if he has any short-term goals, or go right after it. Greco says he has the ability but it's not what he's about, he'll take his time, but the crowd will feel what he does. Sam would never wrestle for WCW, hell he wouldn't wrestle for another 2 years and it would be in Japan. He only ever wrestled three matches in '02, 03, and '05.

WCW World Tag Team Championship: Mark Jindrak & Sean O'Haire (c) vs Booker T (WCW World Heavyweight Champion) & Sting
Sting and Sean start the match. Sean misses a spin kick, then a boot and a bulldog by Sting. Sean gets a knee up to block a splash before hitting a clothesline. Mark tags in, Sting sent off the ropes, double leapfrog and Sting is tossed out to the floor. They hip toss Sting from the floor and just barely clear the top rope, like the back of his neck bits it as he flips over. God damn. Sean back in, Sting sent to the corner and hits a double back elbow.
Booker makes the tag. Rights to the champs and a pair of clotheslines, spin kick to Jindrak. Sean nails him from behind, then Booker counters an Irish whip to hit the scissor kick, followed by a spinaroonie. Harlem Side Kick and a cover on Sean but Jindrak breaks it up. Sting and Jindrak go at it, Booker hits a Book End on Sean, Sting counters a suplex from Jindrak into the Deathdrop, now Sanders runs in from out of nowhere and nails the ref before they can get the win. Then he calls for the bell and the bell is rung in 2:36.

Booker and Sting send him off the ropes, Sting with a dropkick then a Harlem Side Kick from Booker. Booker checks on the ref.

Kronik are on their way to the ring.

Kronik vs Perfect Event
Match start in the middle of a replay of Nitro, now Adams has control over Stasiak. Clark flips off the apron onto Palumbo to the floor. Stasiak sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline and hits a spinning back elbow. Palumbo with a shoulder tackle off the top, Stasiak covers for two. Palumbo with a springboard dropkick knocks Clark off the apron. Palumbo tags in, Adams sent off the ropes, catches Palumbo with a kick, swings Stasiak into Palumbo with a full nelson, then delivers the slam. High Time to Palumbo, Adams covers for the win in 1:52.

Goldberg runs out and Stasiak eats a superkick. Goldberg takes down Clark until he's nailed with a chair from behind by Adams. Then High Time, then Kronik leave. Palumbo tries to take advantage but eats a spin kick, then Stasiak's killed with a spear. Goldberg leaves without pinning anyone.

Up next, Madden interviews Ric.

Commercial

Madden introduces Ric, the greatest World Champion ever as he puts it, before he makes his way out. Ric gets himself hyped up and calls it the most magnificent country in the world and says the women are ready to go all night long. Ric rambles a bit, then says he's a guest of the government, here as an ambassador and here to take David home, says he's lost it at 21 years old.
Out comes David in a white lab coat for some reason. Ric says there are 20,000 women in the building tonight, the two of them can have em all for 30 days, tell him to forget about Stacy, says David is Little Naitch and he doesn't have to take second fiddle to anyone. Poor Charles Robinson. David says he's a grown man now and would have asked Ric to be there if he wanted him, then reminds us of this DNA Match with Bagwell. He knows Buff is the father of Stacy's baby.
Ric says they're there to talk about Australia, wine and women and tells him to forget about Buff, and suggest they tear Melbourne down tonight. Now David thinks Ric knows something and that he's sticking up for Buff, tells Ric to leave. Now he wants to give Ric a blood test right there in the ring, because again, we're supposed to believe they can just do that. Ric says he has a lie ahead of him way better than Stacy and leaves.
Madden calls him a psycho and tries to get it through to David that his father's trying to help, and chastises him for dumping on Ric. So David decks him from behind as he tries to leave and now he's trying to draw blood from Madden, with a tourniquet and everything. Ric comes back to pull him off and David leaves.

Countdown to Armaggedon
Winner earns a World Title match the night after Halloween Havoc.
Out to start the match are Mike Sanders and The Cat. Sanders attacks as Cat enters the ring, then Cat sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline and hits a side kick, followed by an elbow. Mounted rights in the corner, timed with Penzer counting down with the next entrant. Stasiak is next. Cat with rights on Stasiak now drives him into the corner, then a throat shot and more rights. Sanders joins in for the double team. Now Palumbo is out. Triple teaming in the corner on Cat, but there's still problems with Palumbo and Stasiak, Cat trying to fight back. Disqo is next. He goes after Event with rights and lefts, then they double team him. Next is Wright. Wright takes Stasiak in the corner, then Disqo eats kicks from Cat. Wright goes after Palumbo.
Crowbar is next at #6. He goes after everyone and sends Stasiak in the corner face first. Cat stomps on Sanders. Ron Harris is next. Also going after everyone, stomping on Sanders. Don Harris is next. Then Duggan with his 2x4. Now it's Lt. Loco at #10. No eliminations. Not a whole lot of anything going on. Nash is next, and in a rare occurrence we cut to commercial.
Despite a commercial, no one's entered the match, but Nash eliminates Duggan and Loco just as we return from break, then Cat dumps Sanders, then Nash dumps Cat, then Disqo and Wright dumps Crowbar. David Flair is next as Nash eliminates Boogie Knights at the same time. Perfect Event eliminates the Harris Brothers. Now Stasiak and Palumbo start arguing, Stasiak with a clothesline eliminates Palumbo. Nash is pissed and scares Stasiak enough to eliminate himself.
Cpl. Cajun is next at #13 as David tries to attack Nash, only to be shoved to the side and over the ropes and eliminated. Cajun of the ropes, through the legs, back elbow, then runs into a big boot. Now Cajun's out. Kwee-Wee is next and he's out with Paisley, and eats a short-arm clothesline before he's tossed out. Next is Rey Mysterio Jr. at the halfway point and takes Nash off his feet with a springboard dropkick, only to then be killed with a big boot. Jackknife is just barely avoided as Rey delivers rights and backs Nash into the corner.
Booker T is next. Rey goes for the Bronco Buster, Nash gets his boot up and it's supposed to block, but Rey flies right over his foot and has to sell it anyways. Booker with boots and rights on Nash until he hits a low blow. Now it's Mike Awesome coming out. Booker with rights on Booker, then Awesome joins in, Nash sent to the corner, only to hit elbows on Awesome and Rey, then a boot to Booker. Next is Sting. Nash held in the corner for a Stinger  Splash, then another, then a springboard dropkick from Rey. Jarrett comes out just as they all eliminate Nash, and... so does Steiner at #20 who goes right after Booker.
Steiner with mounted rights in the corner, then Sting eliminates himself and Jarrett with a crossbody over the ropes. Awesome and Rey then eliminate Booker and Steiner as Kidman makes his way out. Kidman and Rey double team Awesome, Rey with a split-legged moonsault. Lance Storm is next. Awesome avoids elimination as Kidman goes after Storm, then Storm takes control in the corner. Rey hangs on as Awesome tosses him out, and Vito is next. Awesome and Kidman go after him, then Vito gets catches Awesome with a elbow Kidman with a dropkick to Storm before Sean O'Haire comes out only to be triple teamed. Next is Jindrak. Kidman goes right after him as does Rey. Rey with a dropkick to Jindrak. #26 is Konnan and goes after O'Haire, then beaten down by the champions.
Kronik come out together now, but Adams gets caught with a hurricanrana from Kidman. Konnna whipped into Clark, then Rey is crotched on the top rope, and Konnan eliminates him, then he's eliminated. Lance eliminated by Awesome.Vito eliminated by Kronik. Adams botches a piledriver on Awesome. Now it's 5 on 1 against Awesome until Goldberg comes out to a huge pop. Goldberg isn't part of the match though, clotheslines to the tag champions, then Kronik with a double shoulder block. Awesome ducks a clothesline from Jindrak who nails O'Haire and eliminates himsel and his partner. Goldberg sent off the ropes and hits a spear on Clark, then mounts with rights. Goldberg tosses out Clark, then Adams tries to use a chair, Awesome stops him and Goldberg nails Adams with a spear. Double clothesline to Adams and Awesome wins in 17:26. Did I get lost somewhere along the way, because I only counted 28 guys? Or were there two entants during that commercial who were also eliminated before the show came back? Also, Awesome? Really? This goofy gimmick guy is getting a World Title shot? I mean the one thing you can say about this is the crowd were into every second of this practically.

There's only 10 seconds left in the show as the bell rings.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
This show wasn't that much better than Nitro. Main event was a mess, but I mean what can you expect with a rushed Royal Rumble match? The only thing that was utter garbage on this show was this continuing David/Stacy/Buff thing, the rest OK or just completely forgettable. With a run time of 1:26:48, there was a total 40:05 of wrestling.
