WCW Week of October 30, 2000 - Halloween Havoc Aftermath
Nitro
Video recap of the PPV.
Then we cut to a limo outside the arena, and we're told WCW has a new CEO. Seems redundant when they just had a match for the commissionership but OK.
Live from the Bren Events Center in Irvine, CA for this edition of Nitro, welcomed by Schiavone, Hudson and Madden, and we get right to a match to start.
WCW World Tag Team Championships: Mark Jindrak & Sean O'Haire (c) vs Rey Mysterio Jr. & Billy Kidman (w/ Konnan & Tygress)

Kidman off the ropes, caught and tries for a sunset flip, then Rey springboards and sunset flips but Sean is in the ropes. Rey the legal man as he's nailed from behind by Jindrak, and clotheslined by Sean. Military press into a Michinoku Driver by Sean. Rey sent off the ropes, popped up onto the shoulders of Sean, who bounces Rey off the ropes into a sitout powerbomb. Sean covers but Kidman breaks it up. Jindrak tags in and comes off the top with a clothesline, covers but Rey grabs the rope. Rey sent to the corner, gets a boot up, then again, then Rey gets him with a headscissor.
Kidman gets the hot tag, goes up top with a spinning back elbow. Dropkicks to Sean and Jindrak, then the bulldog out of the corner to Sean. Kidman with mounted rights in the corner until Jindrak gets him from behind, then his the MJ Delight (torture rack into a neckbreaker) makes the cover, but Rey breaks it up with a springboard leg drop to the back of the head. Rey sent off the ropes but low bridges Jindrak and he goes to the floor. Sean sent to the corner, backflips over the challengers and hits a double lariat. Jindrak misses a springboard splash, Kidman with some kind of springboard to the back of Sean. Sitout spinebuster to Jindrak by Kidman while Rey goes up top, leg drop between the legs. Kidman covers but they're interrupted by the appearance of the Boogie Knights. Rey with a crossbody takes out Wright on the floor, then Disqo with the stunner to Kidman back in the ring. Sean pulls Jindrak on top to retain in 5:59. A fun match to start the show.
Konnan chases off Boogie Knights as they leave with the champions.

Nash and Sanders are talking in a hallway backstage. Steiner comes by, fist bumps Nash and pins Sanders to the wall by the chin, mumbles some things but eventually tells Sanders to give him the title match instead of Awesome tonight and leaves. Nash says Sanders won't make friends with his new job and has to learn to pick his battles.
WCW Hardcore Championship: Kwee-Wee vs Reno (c)
Pre-Match: Kwee-Wee is covered head to toe in glitter. This a result of what happened on Thunder, Paisley nowhere to be seen. Kwee-Wee gets the mic and tells Reno not to make him angry, he wouldn't like him when he's angry, says what he did to Paisley is inexcusable. He says jut because they trained at the Power Plant together doesn't make him one of the Natural Born Rating Killers. He tells Reno to roll his ass out there and he'll kick it like he used to at the Power Plant.
KW meets him in the aisle and avoids a kendo stick shot, nailing Reno in the back of the head with a trash lid, then rams his pink trash can into Reno's head. Reno thrown into a trash can tied to the ring post, then face first into the guard rail. Trash lid to the head of Reno, then KW leaps the guard rail into a sunset flip for two. Trash lid to the back and can to the back of the head of Reno, then he avoids a piledriver onto the floor with a back drop. Reno stomping away, then KW face first off the apron and a club to the back.
Trash can to the back of KW before they take things to the ring. Baking tin to the head of KW, then Reno wedges a can in the corner, before catapulting KW face first into it. KW tossed back out to the floor and Reno grabs a kendo stick, cracking him across the back. Reno sent into the guard rail, then cracks him over the back with a kendo stick. Reno Rolls the Dice on a trash lid to retain in 5:20.
Commercial
Okerlund is in the ring to interview Gen. Rection. Okerlund starts to talk about his victory at the PPV, but Rection interrupts, and says there are three guys and a big, beautiful blonde in the back that belong by his side during the interview, so he brings out MIA as well. Oddly they come out to the non-dubbed MIA music even though Rection came out to the dub. Then Rection takes off the Canadian flag sticker from the belt, rechristening it the US Title.
Okerlund returns to topic and calls his victory at the PPV one of the greatest nights in Rection's career. Rection says it was sweet being on PPV, MIA made it sweeter, the fact his two daughters sat by the TV and watched him stand victorious after six years. He says the title represents the Konnans, the Mysterios, the Kidmans, the guys that are considered C-team players, and if he had to retire now he'd leave with a smile on his face.
Okerlund wants him to know just how much Rection is appreciated by the guys in the locker room, behind the scenes, calling him a trusted, true, American friend. So he starts up a round of applause. "Gene's giving him the clap," a rare time Madden made me chuckle and I hate it. The locker room empty out on the stage too to join in, plus Jimmy Hart, Pamela, some referees, Arn, Tenay, Booker and Goldberg come out too. Goldberg has a mic and tells Hugh Morris that nothing he's done has been in vain, because not only does he appreciate him, or the guys behind him, but the fans in the arena and at home do too. He also jokes that his streak had to start somewhere.
Finally, Lance appears on the NitroVision with mic in hand to stop this. He tells Rection to enjoy his shallow victory, he's got the girl and the gold, but didn't get what he really wanted, that's to beat Lance, says he didn't get it done and never has. He says he's man enough to give Rection that chance, and wonders if he's man enough to put his belt on the line one more time, one on one. Rection takes the mic and says that rather than partying all night celebrating, he went to WCW executives and was one step ahead, and Rection vs Storm for the title is official for Mayhem. Lance tells him to enjoy his 4 week reign because the Canadian Title comes home to Canada. Goldberg tells Rection to do them all a favor and shut Lance's punk mouth up for good. Rection tells Storm to kiss his red, white and blue ass until then. I mean this was a nice sentiment, but how are we supposed to take Rection seriously when... well his name is fucking Rection for christ sake. And adding in Goldberg was some funny shit.
Commercial
Back to the limo outside, presumably hiding the new CEO.
Out comes David with the DNA test results in hand. He gets right to business and opens the envelope and it says that there's a 99.9% chance that Buff is not the father. Now comes out MI Smooth, the one who started all this in the first place. He's got a bone to pick with David, he says he told David he'd find something interesting on the tape he sold him. He says David found Buff on the tape being interesting, but never once told David that Buff was the father, and with Buff hot at Smooth, Smooth is hot at David, and is going to show David who his daddy is. David doesn't feel like wrestling him tonight, but Smooth doesn't give him a choice.
David Flair vs M.I. Smooth
Smooth with clubs to the back, then David sent to the corner, sidestepping Smooth and delivering some rights and chops in the corner. David sent off the ropes into a shoulder block, then some chops in the corner. David sent across the ring and squashed with a splash, then back across the ring and does the Flair flip to the apron, knocked off to the floor. Back to the ring, David sent off the ropes and gets a sunset flip for two. Smooth with a body block, then a scoop slam, off the ropes with a splash. Smooth with a full nelson bomb for the win in 1:45.
Commercial
Jimmy Hart does a paid announcement. He wants to wrestle DJs, male or female, on Nitro, and brags about knocking out Andy Kaufman before laughing maniacally. Because his match with Mancow was so good.
Boogie Knights are out now. Disqo has a mic and doesn't know why they're out there, all he knows is Sanders has something special planned for them, maybe congratulate them on saving the tag champions earlier and assumes there's no hard feelings for almost beating them at the PPV. Maybe Sanders will congratulate him on his abs, then hopes he doesn't expect them to tell everyone who let the dogs out.
Goldberg's music hits thank god, this was already too long, and out he comes. Goldberg tosses them both over the ropes to the floor like nothing before getting the mic. He says he didn't understand who Goldberg was until a short time ago, but as in life, adversity introduces a man to himself, and as he stands there he knows who Goldberg is, and so does Kronik. As far as his record, it's just a number, he set it and he's gonna break it, and what that means for the guys in the back is they're all next.
Cut backstage to outside the CEO's office, and the cameraman fucks up because it catches the face of the CEO as they exit. Would expect nothing less of this company. He's on his way to the ring.
Commercial
First though, out comes Sanders. He says he floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee at the PPV, and Cat felt the 1-2-3. Before he accepts his role as commissioner and, still, the Cruiserweight Champion, he needs to take care of some business, because he likes all his limbs attached to his body and concerned for his health, and because he calls it down the middle. He reminds us that Booker got his ass kicked at the PPV, so tonight he's going to do right, and makes it Booker vs Awesome vs Steiner for the title tonight. As new commissioner he plans to do the right thing, and brings up the new CEO, a new hot shot, but says the only thing he'll be running is running to get him coffee, his reports, and run his ass out of WCW. He guarantees they've never stepped in the ring and says he knows his way around the ring, and guarantees the CEO will drop out of WCW faster than Stasiak in a spelling bee. Ouch.
Sanders is quickly shut up by Ric Flair's music and out he comes, suit and all. He introduces himself as someone who used to be a big star but now retired, but as of Friday in Atlanta he's now the CEO. He admits he's sat at home and been enjoying Sanders, he's a good hand and has the gift of gab, a fair hand in the ring, but says Sanders has been running wild, breaking every rule there is to break, and whether he's commissioner or not he's got Ric telling him what to do every step of the way.
Sanders insists he calls it right down the middle to do what's right, that he does the right thing. Ric says he bumped into Nash and asked how old Sanders was (28) and says the first time he wrestled for the World Title, Sanders was only 10, and says to tell his story walking. He says he and the Thrillers are gonna wrestle by the rules or they just won't wrestle, because in the back there's the greatest array of talent in the history of sports and he's gonna make them work, starting with Sanders. Ric tells him to leave if he has nothing to say, but not before announcing Sanders vs Cat for tonight, with no outside interference. Sanders leaves.
Ric says he's not here to be the Nature Boy anymore, he's there because WCW is the greatest wrestling company in the world, with the biggest names and stars, but it also has its problems. He says they're gonna work on those problems right now, but it's a new day, he's retired, he's not wrestling, but he's here to make WCW #1 again. On a personal note, he says Luger came to him when he heard Flair was getting the job, and he asked Luger to look out for David at the PPV, and admits Luger went over and above what he asked. He apologizes to Buff, but he implies that Luger's reinstated nonetheless.
Now out comes Jarrett with a mic that isn't working. He calls this the biggest joke he's ever seen after taking a shot at Flair for the bad mic, he was sure Ric's slapass retired and asks if he ever goes away. He says if and when civilization ends, only cockroaches and Ric Flair will roam the Earth, and though Ric is a legend, he says he'll never be the Chosen One. Ric says the only time he's the Chosen One is when he's in a room full of girls, and whether he's a legend or not, dead or alive, retired or not, he's the boss, Jarrett's CEO, and Jarrett can do nothing about it.
Jarrett says things have changed and aren't like they were in Jarrett's dinosaur days, reminding us how he took care of one legend at the PPV, and if Flair gets in his way he'll make it two for two. Ric repeats what he's said before, that Jarrett is a great wrestler, but he's the boss, that's the difference. And he just keeps repeating himself as he walks up the aisle, and Jarrett heads to the back. Alright, this went on pretty long, but it was a fun segment, even if they did fuck up the reveal. Plus, Ric as CEO is a great change from fucking Russo running things.
Commercial
Luger's out next, music and all, so I guess he is reinstated. He says the true superstars of the sport are ready to regain center stage, as it has been and should be, and confirms he's back. A multi-time World Champion, US Champion, Tag Team Champion and multimillionaire, the Total Package. He says what happened to Buff at the PPV was just a business transaction, Buff was at the wrong place at the wrong time, no hard feelings, it's a ruthless sport and business. He's here to make a statement that'll rock WCW's foundation, he sees nobodies and wannabes in the back, cowering and sniveling about who will be next with Goldberg, but says he doesn't have to worry about who's next, because he's next.
He's interrupted by Buff now who comes out with a mic in hand. He likes Luger's big plans, but he's overlooking Buff, and if he has a problem with Buff, he'll kick his ass in Irvine right now. Lex says if Buff is feeling bad and frisky, he's sure he can make some arrangements, he's got his gear in the back and they can have a match later. Buff though had the craziest idea that Lex was gonna do just that and happened to bring a referee with him and do it right now instead.
Lex Luger vs Buff Bagwell
Lex misses a clothesline right out of the gate, Buff with rights and sends Luger face first in the corners, then a swinging neckbreaker before strutting his stuff. Another misses clothesline by Lex before Buff hits a double-arm DDT. Buff goes to the middle rope and goes for the Blockbuster but Lex pulls the referee in the way, and he eats a Blockbuster instead. Clothesline by Lex sends Buff out to the floor. Buff into the guard rail, then a chair to the ribs and across the back. Back in the ring, Lex gets Buff up in the Rack for the win in 1:43.
Luger takes the mic and tells Goldberg he's next.
Commercial
Pamela is backstage with Nash and Perfect Event, who are set to face Kronik tonight. Nash says they spent the week together and thinks Shawn is finally seeing his way, and has a good idea that they'll act as a team and a well-oiled machine. Stasiak apologizes for what happened last week, he's had a week to think about things, has his head on straight, he's a team player and a Thriller. Nash says the only place is 1st place, then leave.
Perfect Event (w/ Coach Kevin Nash) vs Kronik
Stasiak and Adams start the match, Stasiak with a pair of cheap shots before sending Adams face first in the corner. Stasiak sent across the ring and into a clothesline on the rebound. There's a "We want Scott Hall" chant going as Stasiak is sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline, Palumbo tags himself in as Adams goes for a powerbomb, nailed with a side kick from Palumbo.
Double teaming on Adams who's sent off the ropes into a back elbow by Stasiak, then Palumbo with rights in the corner. Adams delivers one before tagging in Clark, taking Palumbo to the corner with chops and boots, stomping away. Clark sent off the ropes, tripped up by Stasiak, then dropkicked by Palumbo, who covers but Adams breaks it up, then he knocks Stasiak off the apron.
Snapmare by Adams as Clark sends Stasiak into the guard rail and Adams drops Palumbo with a right in the ring. Nash tries to tell Stasiak to walk it off as Palumbo gets Adams for two with an inside cradle. Stasiak takes Nash's advice a bit too literally and walks out on the match while Palumbo gets Adams with a headscissor, then takes Clark off the apron with a springboard dropkick. He wastes too much time playing to the crowd allowing Adams to hit the full nelson slam, then a double clothesline with Clark. High Time for the win in 4:15. It was... OK.
Commercial
Thrillers and Nash go off in search of Stasiak backstage, Nash grabbing a bat on the way. Some guy stooges off Stasiak and they bump into Sanders on the way.
Pamela is backstage with Booker. He says it's just like Steiner to bully his way into the match, but Awesome earned his title shot fair and square, and Steiner won't rest until he gets his 23lbs of gold around his waist. He says the sucka tried to take him out at the PPV but he's still there, and Steiner can come get some, and better be bad enough to take some. He says Awesome wants to kill Steiner just as much as he does and when it's all said and done, he wants Steiner to remember one thing: don't hate the player, hate the game.
"Above Average" Mike Sanders (WCW Cruiserweight Champion) vs The Cat
Pre-Match: Cat comes out with a mic. He says he saw the worst thing every earlier in the day, something so horrible that we wouldn't believe it: fat-ass Mark Madden in the shower buck naked, his ass has so many dimples it looked like it was smiling at him. Sanders gets a mic and says he knows Cat is a killer and has skills, and the best thing they can do is put the past in the past, let bygones be bygones, and was hoping Cat would congratulate him on being the new commissioner. Cat calls him a stupid SOB and says he came to kick Sanders' ass before clubbing him in the side of the head.
Cat rips off Sanders' shirt and delivers a chop and a side kick to the chest. Cat with mounted punches in the corner. Sanders with a low blow before tossing Cat out to the floor, then some shots to the back. Cat slaps him and kicks him in the chest again, then sends Sanders into the guard rail. Back in the ring Sanders takes control and takes Cat down with a rear chinlock. Cat almost passes out but he fight sout, ducks a clothesline and hits a back kick. Sanders sent off the ropes, tries a sunset flip but Cat nails a right, then an elbow drop and an uppercut. Sanders sent to the corner and hit with the Feliner for the win in 2:57.
Douglas appears on the Nitro Vision and says Cat opened a can of worms he shouldn't have at the PPV, and instead of worrying about the Thrillers, he says Cat should worry about his own house. He has Ms. Jones captive as the camera pans over and she slaps him, so he gives her a backbreaker and Cat rushes to the back.
Commercial
Cat tends to Ms. Jones and calls the doctor over. Cat turns to the camera and vows to take care of Douglas and his floozie.
Pamela is backstage with Awesome. He says she looks as groovy as ever, and says if Steiner wants to walk into the lion's den against him and Booker he can bring it on. He says it's two against one on Steiner, so after he and Booker take him out, he's gonna take out Booker and win the title.
Steiner comes out for his match and gets a mic. He says he sees a man who has no pride and no dignity when he looks at Booker, he sees a beaten man that has no shame still carrying the title around, because Steiner not only beat him up but punked his ass out. He says he proved he's got way too much hate in his body for Booker to control and handle, because he put him in the Recliner and Booker screamed like a bitch. He says he doesn't need a World Title to be legitimate, to prove he's the real deal, he does that by kicking Booker's ass every night. He says tonight will be deja vu all over again, and prove there's no substitute for size, and there's only one genetic freak.
Commercial

Steiner sent off the ropes, Booker misses a spin kick and hits a side kick. Steiner sent off the ropes again into a clothesline and Booker mounts with rights. Steiner sent off the ropes but catches Booker with a butterfly suplex. Steiner with boots and rights and chops in the corner before setting Booker on the top rope.

Steiner sent back and forth into the ring apron and guard rail before they return to the ring. Awesome with an elbow drop and a cover for two.

Samoan drop from the middle rope on Awesome by Steiner and a cover but Booker breaks it up. Side kick from Booker to Steiner and a cover for a near fall. Awesome with clotheslines to Booker and Steiner, then he's caught with an inverted atomic drop by Steiner, followed by an exploder suplex. Steiner goes for the Recliner on Awesome but Boker gets him with a side kick, then a spin kick. Book End on Awesome to retain in 8:09. Hey, a solid main event, I'll take it.
Booker wants more of Steiner but now security rush out to try and control Steiner to no avail. Steiner backs up the ramp with Midajah while Booker grabs a mic. He says he's been getting the hell beat out of him, but if Steiner wants to take it to the street or the back, it doesn't matter, he's still gonna give the people what they want to see. He calls Steiner back out to finish this if he's man enough. Steiner doesn't come out, but Booker says they'll meet up in the near future. Steiner does come back out just as the show fades out.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
Well this show was... another mixed bag. The action had its good, it's bad, it's meh, had a few decent to good segments. But noticeably the pacing is much better than it was under Russo's control, so things are at least improving. Plus we already have a match set for the next PPV. What else can I say? With a run time of 1:29:15, this show had a total 30:08 of wrestling.
Thunder
Cut to outside the arena where a car with a New Jersey plate has arrived. Tenay thinks it might be Bruce Springsteen.
Still in Irvine, CA for this episode of Thunder, welcomed by Schiavone joined by Tenay and Madden, and 3 Count are already in the ring. Evan says hello to the ladies in the crowd, because apparently he's gotten fan mail wanting him to flex, then implies he's got a big dick before flexing. Then Shane gets a mic that barely works to get things back on track, and it looks like they're teasing dissension between the two as Evan claims to be the leader of the group. Then they're interrupted by Jung Dragons before they perform. We're given a recap of Leia's involvement since taking charge of the Dragons and the match starts a few moments later.
3 Count vs Jung Dragons (w/ Leia Meow)
Fight breaks out between all three leaving Shane and Jamie in the ring, while the other two Dragons hit a pair of springboard moonsaults to the outside on the rest of 3 Count. Shane sent off the ropes into a knee to the gut before Jamie stomps away, then tries a springboard somersault on Shannon and Evan while the Dragons hold them in place, but Jamie ends up taking out his own partners. Evan tosses Yang back in and Shane is sent off he ropes, avoids a slam and hits an inverted DDT.
Shannon tags in. Suplex by Shane and a somersault by Shannon from the apron. Yang sent off he ropes, avoids a hip toss and turns Shannon inside out with a clothesline. Jamie back in with rights and a scoop slam, then misses a springboard leg drop from the middle rope. Shannon misses a clothesline and Kaz tags in as Jamie comes off the ropes, colliding with Kaz as Shannon leapfrogs. Shannon sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline and delivers a tilt-a-whirl arm drag.
Evan with the tag. Front slam by Shannon, then prepares for a leg drop but Evan sends him out. Kaz sent off the ropes into a drop toe hold, then Evan walks across his back. Kaz with chops as he plays to the crowd, then sent off the ropes, gets Evan with an inside cradle for two, walking into a clothesline. Kaz sent off the ropes into a powerslam, dancing and choking Kaz. More dancing before he's sent off the ropes and hits a facebuster.
Flexing now and Shane tags himself in as Evan refuses to tag out, Shane choking Kaz now. Back suplex countered by Kaz misses a spin kick and tags in Yang. Yang with body shots and a Uranagi, then some body shots to Shannon, and a poke to the eye of Evan followed by a dropkick. Jamie and Yang with mounted rights in opposite corners, then Shane avoids a clothesline and Jamie nails Yang instead. Shane with a superkick to Jamie, then backdrops Kaz over the ropes to the floor followed by a crossbody.
Back in the ring, Shannon sends Jamie off the ropes with a knee to the ribs, then something like a Fameasser. Shane comes in and sends Jamie off the ropes into their fireman's carry neckbreaker, while Evan tags himself in off Shane's back before they connect. Evan steals the glory for the win in 5:45. Match was fine. I don't know why we're doing two split teases in one match though.
Shane and Shannon are pissed and so is Leia at Jamie. Shane and Shannon attack Evan now sending him off the ropes for that fireman's carry neckbreaker combo. Leia is berating Jamie then Yang and Kaz take him out before taking his mask off. Then Evan and Jamie stare each other down. So we tease and then split two teams in the span of 5 minutes with no build. Yeah, sure, alright.
Commercial
Okerlund is backstage with Nash and Palumbo. Nash has apparently demanded a match between Palumbo and Stasiak tonight. Nash says Stasiak made his bed and now he's gonna have to lie in it, he's decided to be out of the Thrillers and he's gonna have to face Palumbo tonight. Palumbo says Stasiak couldn't cut the mustard as a Thriller, but they didn't want him in the group anyway, and promises Nash he'll beat Stasiak silly. Alright decent promo.
Crowbar is elsewhere talking to Doug Dillinger and Bigelow arrives just behind him. Bigelow decides to lay him out, then tells Doug he's tired of being at home and to tell all the chumps that he's back. Apparently that's who the Jersey plates were for.
Elix comes out with a mic. He says it's primetime, and this is his house, he built it, and tonight he's gonna get payback against Loco. This is all stemming from that awful parody MIA did of Team Canada on Nitro last week. He says Loco doesn't even look like him, can't wrestle like him, and there can only be one primetime. He calls Loco out and says he better be ready to bring it.
"Primetime" Elix Skipper vs Lt. Loco (w/ Major Guns)
Loco avoids a cheap shot before sending Elix into the corner, who tries to float over only to be caught on the shoulder and driven down with a powerslam. Loco with a clothesline and a dropkick sends Elix out to the floor. Elix back in the ring caught with a rolling shoulder block, then a chop sends him to the corner for some more.
Elix tossed back out to the floor, then Loco holds him up so Guns can slap him. Back in the ring, Elix catches him off guard with some clubs to the back Loco sent off the ropes, through the legs and a forearm. Elix sent off the ropes and they botch a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Half-nelson suplex by Loco and a cover for two.
Elix avoids a clothesline, then he's picked up for a powerbomb before pulling Loco over the ropes to the apron, sending him back to the floor with a clothesline. Loco sent into the guard rail, then dropped onto it. Elix back in the ring to hit a corkscrew crossbody to the floor. Elix covers back in the ring for a count of one.
Loco sent off the ropes and floats over into a DDT, then a back suplex. Loco with boots in the corner before he helps Guns into the ring, ripping her top off in front of Elix, but the ref gets between them before she can attack. Loco with a roll up but the ref is busy with Guns and Elix kicks out at one. Loco gets a boot up in the corner but he's hit with a belly to belly overhead.
Elix puts his Grey Cup ring on but Guns catches him before hs can use it. Ref is busy with her again while Loco tries a sunset flip and Elix clocks him with the ring behind the ref's back. Elix gets the win in 5:33. Another fine match.

Out comes Nash to join commentary. Nash has been looking forward to this match a few days now and says Palumbo's going to take care of Stasiak once and for all, they've gotten rid of the weakest link of the group. Now out comes Stasiak for the match. We're waiting on Palumbo to come out next but we cut backstage to see he's been laid out. Nash leaves commentary and eyes Stasiak, while the crowd cares more about Scott Hall. Nash heads to the back.
Commercial
Billy Kidman & Rey Mysterio Jr. (w/ Tygress & Konnan) vs Boogie Knights
Pre-Match: Konnan and Tygress do their usual shtick. Then Kidman takes the mic and says the Thrillers only look so good because guys like him and Mysterio make them look good, but they still suck. He and Rey are tired of carrying those two greenhorns to good matches and having nothing to show for it, so he wants them to pay attention to this match, they're coming for the Tag Titles next. Then he says no one can carry Disqo to a good match but he and Alex made a mistake when they cost the the titles, calling them out for a Filthy Animals-style ass kicking.
Kidman and Rey take control in the early going until Wright hits Kidman with a side suplex, then stomping away. Sgt. A-Wall comes out to the ring with a table, then Lance comes out with a mic, but stays on the stage. He hasn't forgotten about the MIA clowns just because he has Rection at Mayhem, and has found A-Wall an opponent who couldn't say no tonight. He tells him to be ready for a night in the hospital.
Sgt. A-Wall vs Meng
Lance Storm on commentary.
Pre-Match: We haven't seen Meng since he lost to Goldberg in the first match of his new streak.

Commercial
Lance is back out for a match of his own this time, mic in hand once again. Lance is about to get serious for a moment but he can't speak after the Deathgrip, so he motions for everyone to rise and for the anthem to play instead. Even in silence he's selling the throat.
Lance Storm vs Screamin' Norman Smiley
Pre-Match: Norman hasn't been seen since... Well I think when Funk tricked Douglas(?) to get his Hardcore Title back, so I guess Flair rehired him as the new CEO.
Feeling out process and a bit of chain wrestling to start the match, both getting the better of a few exchanges. Then an exchange of roll ups by both for twos. Lance with a jackknife pin, Norman is trying to bridge up to escape but he can't, he does enough to break the pin twice though. Lance finally gets the Maple Leaf applied for the win in 9:32. A match with Norman Smiley against Storm should not be going 10 minutes with how much of a joke Norman's been booked as. That aside it was actually a pretty good match even despite the sloppy spots.
Lance refuses to release the hold and out comes Meng to make the save. Storm hits Meng with the superkick and he completely no sells it, so Storm runs off scared.

Out comes Jarrett for the main event. There's a weirdly big chunk of this show missing on the Network. We were promised an interview from Tenay with Stasiak, then when we come back from commercial, commentary talk about Booker giving Steiner a rematch at the PPV with Steiner getting to pick the stipulation. Then there's this main event that was mentioned a few times but there's been nothing on this show to build to it or promote it. I don't know what the hell is going on. Also I guess Vampiro didn't get too badly concussed at the PPV. Jarrett gets the mic and says the WCW executives have proven they have no business running a company like WCW, questioning why they made Flair CEO and gave him the stroke to book this match. He says Flair doesn't realize he's the Chosen One and the man with all the stroke, and christens Flair the new jurassic slapass. We also find out from commentary that Goldberg vs Luger is official from Mayhem.

Awesome tries to end it, Jarrett comes in with a guitar, Sting comes in with a bat and uses it to block the guitar shot. Jarrett is tossed to the floor as the Awesome Bomb connects on Vamp for the win in 6:44. A simple, fun main event.
Sting stalks Jarrett to the back and Awesome celebrates. And that's it.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
Well much like Nitro, another show that had better pacing, and was a mixed bag. Crowbar vs Bigelow was the only thing I'd consider bad on it. I haven't been able to figure out why things were cut out of this episode, things that seemed significant to what's going on too. Oh well I guess. With a run time of 1:13:16, this show had a total 44:03 of wrestling.
