Week of November 20, 2000 - Mayhem Go-Home
Nitro
A recap of last week where none of the talking featured can be heard at all, the music is too loud playing over it until more than halfway through the video.
Then we see that the previous week during a Germany-exclusive PPV, Millennium Final, Boogie Knights won the Tag Titles. Wright won it on his own as Disqo was severely injured during the match.
Then to earlier today, where Luger is meeting with Sanders, joined by most of the Thrillers, pitching him a match based on ratings. Sanders mentions that Jindrak & O'Haire are in a tag title match on this show, and Sanders agrees to whatever Luger's idea was. Then Palumbo runs in saying O'Haire was knocked out in the hallway. O'Haire comes to from a broken table barely able to stand.
Now I think this is supposed to be live as we cut back to Sanders office where he's speaking to the camera, and starts to make matches for the show. With Disqo and O'Haire out, he still promises a tag title match, pitching Perfect Event vs Wright and a partner of Sanders' choosing. As for the main event, Sanders has Booker defend the title against Luger.
Welcomed by Schiavone from the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center in Augusta, GA for the last Nitro before Mayhem before our first match.
Jamie Noble vs Yang (w/ Leia Meow)
Shots exchanged and a quick back and forth to begin, Noble delivering a headscissor before clotheslining Yang out to the floor. Noble up top with a somersault over the post onto Yang. Back in the ring, Yang sent off the ropes, catches Noble with a powerbomb off a hurricanrana attempt. Yang with a spinebuster before going out to grab a chair, but the ref takes it away before he can use it.
Noble tossed back out to the floor allowing for Leia to leap off the steps with a hurricanrana. Back in the ring, Yang mounts with rights until the ref forces a break, then Noble with a rollup tor two. Yang blocks a backslide, then Noble counters a full nelson with a roll up for two. Exchange of chops then Noble counters an Irish whip into a Russian leg sweep. Leg drop from the middle rope by Noble for a near fall. Noble tries to go up top but Leia grabs hold of his leg. Noble catches him with the Cop Killer but Noble grabs the ropes.
Karagias comes out now and immediately attacked by 3 Count, then Noble nails a clothesline before hitting a crossbody on 3 Count to the floor. Noble counter a suplex back into the ring, then gets Yang with a sunset flip for the win in 4:46. Alright, a fairly fun opener to start the show.
3 Count immediately attack Noble and Yang joins in, then Evan DDTs Helms before Yang is sent to the floor. I still don't know who's supposed to be the heels here.
Luger is seen leaving Flair's office and have to an agreement on something.

Recap of the post-match attack Steiner unleashed on Sting on Thunder. Sting has suffered several injuries as a result.
Alex Wright is on the phone with someone backstage, noticeably lacking a German accent, or maybe I just don't notice it. He finds Kronik and tries to hire them, but he has no money and they won't take a check, so they walk off. Up walk the Filthy Animals and they scare him off.
Flair's out next with a mic. Flair puts over their UK tour before getting a cheap pop from Augusta, then puts Schiavone over during his time in London. He says the boys love southern women, and he's been told they're all night long. He can't do that as CEO anymore but he does support it. He can recognize as commissioner though, and confirms Luger's title shot for the main event, but to spice it up, if Luger beats Booker for the title, Luger vs Goldberg will be for the title instead at Mayhem. He doesn't care about the streak and the stipulation Russo put in place.
Of course out comes Jarrett now. He says no one, especially himself, cares about what Ric is saying, he's the only legend, and tells Ric to walk to Charlotte, or Jarrett will make sure he's carried back instead. Flair reiterates that he's not wrestling and Jarrett can't touch him. Jarrett takes a long time to say that since Ric is hiding behind is CEO role, he's now going to take credit for knocking up Keibler, saying she got the guitar shot of love.
Now this brings out David, who wants to know where and when it happened. Jarrett takes us back to July, the night before Great American Bash, as he was celebrating a World Title victory at the Marriott, David must have gone to bed real early that night, at about 2 am there was a knock at his door, and through the peephole she saw Kiebler with a teddy on, carrying a shopping bag. The "Kiebler elf" wanted to know if he wanted her cookies. She came in, putting her shopping down, and even though Jarrett brought up David, she didn't care because he's the Chosen One and on that night she chose him. He dimmed the lights, put on soft music, had a couple of drinks, and the rest is history. The next morning she was gone and the only thing left was the shopping bag.
So what's the punchline here? Well, in the shopping bag, there was nothing but crap just like this story. Then Jarrett nails him with the guitar. Ric leaves the ring to check on David as Jarrett tries to leave, but out comes Bagwell to attack, only to be whipped into the entrance set. Referees come out to break it up but Jarrett gets in one more cheap shot. Jarrett is knocked off the stage to the floor. What the ever loving crap was the point of all that?
Nash arrives and asks Finaly who's nearby to tell the Thrillers he's not alone tonight.
Commercial
Pamela is backstage with Team Canada, and we find out Elix and Duggan are teaming up against Kwee-Wee and Meng tonight. At least that was the plan, but it turns out Elix has been picked to be Wright's partner in the tag title match tonight, so Storm will be taking his place in his previously scheduled match. Elix's match is next so he leaves. Storm says that while Elix goes out and takes tag gold, Duggan can teach Meng manners and he'll get a warmup match for Mayhem, and the Augusta hicks can see a real champion wrestle. Guns tells Pamela not to blame Canada but to blame herself as they all leave. Pamela calls her a bitch.
Another replay of Wright winning the titles by himself in Germany.
WCW World Tag Team Championships: Alex Wright (c) & "Primetime" Elix Skipper vs Perfect Event
Pre-Match: So if Wikipedia is anything to go by, Skipper was never recognized as a tag team champion, Disqo is still officially the other half of the champions along with Das Wunderkind.
Wright and Stasiak start the match. Wright with some rights and uppercuts in the corner before sending Stasiak across the ring and nailing a spinning heel kick. Elix tags in with a dropkick for two. Wright back in, then Palumbo tags in, misses a clothesline and caught with a DDT and a cover, Stasiak breaks it up. Wright sent to the corner and Palumbo whipped toward him, but Wright avoids it and clotheslines Stasiak, before eating a superkick from Palumbo. Double slingshot suplex on Wright for two.
Wright sent to the corner for a clothesline, then a neckbreaker and a cover but Elix saves it. Wright avoids a suplex and delivers more uppercuts before being sent off the ropes into a back elbow, then a cover and Elix saves again. Elix knocks Palumbo off the apron and gets sent to the floor. Wright goes up top with a missile dropkick while Palumbo and Elix fight on the floor. Suddenly the Animals are out with Rey distracting the ref, and Kidman hitting the Kid Krusher on Wright. Event win the titles in 3:23.
Also during the match, commentary announce 3 Count vs Jung Dragons vs Noble & Karagias for the PPV.
Commercial
Because this feud needs to happen, Jimmy Hart flanked by 3 Count is about to cut a promo on some DJ from Augusta, until Mancow attacks them with a trash can. Security rush in immediately to break it up. This match official for the PPV.
Pamela is backstage with Kwee-Wee, Meng and Paisley. Kwee-Wee thinks Elix is afraid to fight him as he speaks in the third-person, but he isn't bothered by this, he has a title match against Sanders after all. Then he suddenly rips his shirt and says Elix just got him angry, so... he got a replacement as well in Gen. Rection. I don't know how that makes any sense, but OK. Rection says there's nowhere for Storm to hide and vows to make his life a living hell from now until Mayhem. Then Meng cuts a brief promo of which I didn't get a word of.
Cut to Sander's office where he's with Jindrak. Sander's plan had been for Kwee-Wee to get worked over before their match, so Sanders has another match set up for him tonight.
Palumbo and Stasiak are walking backstage with Reno talking about having all the belts, then Reno splits off into a side room. Vito nails him in the head with a bat and leaves. Apparently it's Vito vs Crowbar vs Reno for the Hardcore Title at Mayhem.
Now the Battledome guys have arrived and security are trying to hold them back at the guard rail.
Commercial
Pamela is backstage with Wright. He's pissed that WCW are doing nothing about what the Animals did earlier, claims Flair would be looking into this if he were part of any other team, says WCW scared of the Boogie Knights. He promises the belts will be around their waists again in no time, and they'll take their own revenge, challenging the Animals to a handicap match for the PPV.
Security are still dealing with the Battledome guys, so out comes Rick Steiner, who apparently in the last week won the Battledome Championship. He's taken offense to how the Battledome guys have said wrestling isn't real, and Battledome is the real deal. So he took a flight to LA just to see how bad they were and took their belt. Since they've flown from LA to Augusta and want their belt, he tells them to come get some.
So Terry Crews hops the guard rail with elbow pads and all, Rick delivering a cheap shot and Crews takes him down. The rest of the Battledome guys join in to help Crews deliver a low blow. More cheap shots by Crews until officials run down to restore order. Crews takes the Battledome Belt as they all leave.
Commercial
Back to Sanders' office. Stasiak is on the phone with someone as Reno storms in and wants Vito tonight, he doesn't want to wait for the PPV. Sanders says he'll take care of business.
Recap of what happened before the break.
Cut to MIA somewhere in the back. Rection says Mayhem is when MIA take it to the next level, but Storm has offered himself up tonight. He says the one thing they can agree on is they take no prisoners, especially Canadian ones. Loco says he and Cajun started it next week and it's Rection's turn to keep it going, says they have his back.
Now Nash comes out and starts with a cheap pop, then says he has a little over 14 months left on his contract and has decided he's going to have the time of his life in that time. He drove to Atlanta with a good friend of his, someone he can count on to count his back, and they sat in the back watching the Thrillers practically be given the tag belts. He tells Sanders to bring his jacked up greenhorns out, because he has a partner for Mayhem and wants a shot at the belts.
Out come the Thrillers. Sanders says it might be a problem and calls Nash a self-centered son of a bitch, says he's been doing some research and Nash isn't very popular in the back. Nash says Chief Jay Strongbow once told him that you can make friends or you can make money, and he makes money. Sanders concurs and says so did the locker room, says they lumped Nash in with the rest of the cheese sucking trailer trash fans in Augusta. Nash just flat out dunks on him for using cheap heat. Sanders gives him the shot, but points out Nash has come out alone like he has many other times, and that makes him SOL. Nash says they can't even hang with him the bar and they have no chance with him in the ring.
Thrillers rush the ring and the numbers game catch up on him again. Then out rushes DDP to make the save, laying out the Thrillers and clearing the ring. Jindrak is sent into a terrible looking big boot from Nash, then into a Diamond Cutter. Page gets the mic and calls them jacked up, Natural Born Monkeys, holds up one of the belt, and says that's what it looks like when two over guys hold the tag titles. Well that segment did no favors for the Thrillers.
Commercial
Pamela is backstage with Luger. He denies manipulating Flair to get the stipulation made for tonight, then reminds us he read Goldberg's book, even saw him put sentences together in some quotes, so he knows Goldberg is "fiercely" intelligent. He spells it out for Goldberg and is trying to get Goldberg to help him out tonight, saying he knows he'll do the right thing.
Recap of Major Guns' heel turn last week, then Meng's interference in the Cruiserweight Match on Thunder.
Lance Storm (WCW Canadian Heavyweight Champion) & "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan (w/ Major Guns) vs Meng & Gen. Rection
Pre-Match: I just want to point out that we've had 13 segments/recaps in about 20 minutes since the last match, most of which were either terrible or completely unnecessary. Anyways, Lance is out and wants to be serious for a minute. It's been two weeks and can't believe America hasn't finalized their election, and though he realizes they aren't very bright, it befuddles him that they can't do basic math, that they screwed up the fundamental part of their constitution. He says they can still save themselves and join Canada, it's not too late, then calls for the anthem. Of course he's interrupted by Meng's music. They also forgot to dub MIA's music as Rection comes out.
Meng and Storm start things out. Storm delivers some rights only to be pushed to the corner for some chops. Storm sent off the ropes into a big boot, then Meng nailed in the back with the 2x4 from Duggan as he comes off the ropes. Duggan tags in and trades rights with Meng before Meng is sent face first into the corner. Shoulder blocks and rights followed by a wrist lock takes Meng to a knee. Duggan tries a headbutt but bounces right off Meng's head to the mat, but avoids a falling headbutt.
Storm tags in and sends Meng off the ropes into some throat shots, then gets caught in the Deathgrip but Duggan makes the save. Meng manages a tag but it's behind the ref's back, so he sends Rection back to the apron. But then Duggan tags in behind his back and he's fine with it. Meng sent off the ropes, ducks a double clothesline and hits one of his own. Rection tags in with some forearms for the Canadians, then goes off the ropes but Guns nails him in the back with the Canadian flag while the ref isn't looking, allowing Duggan to hit a clothesline. Now Elix is out and the rest of MIA to attack him, popping him up into a backbreaker by AWOL Duggan and Meng trade shots, and Rection rolls him up for the win in 3:12.
Commercial
Franchise is back on TV and he's talking to Jarrett backstage. No audio. No idea where he's been.
Sanders has joined commentary, who doesn't want to talk about Nash and DDP. He does say despite his reservations the match is still on and will come up with something before Sunday. But he's out here for the next match.
Career-Threatening Streak Match(?): Kwee-Wee (w/ Paisley) vs Goldberg (19-0)
Pre-Match: Commentary are freaking out as if Goldberg is about to murder this guy on live television, it's so ridiculous but it's awesome. Also I don't know if Goldberg's streak and stipulation are still a thing, despite what Ric said earlier, so...
Kwee-Wee immediately on the attack as Goldberg slides in, then springs off the middle rope right into a spear midair. Immediate jackhammer for the win in 29 seconds.
Sanders is cracking up on commentary proud of his handiwork, but Goldberg isn't done, making his way over to commentary. He gets in Sanders' face and says he's his own man, that he doesn't fight anyone's battles, and implies Sanders might be next. Cue Ric now with a mic and brings Goldberg over to see Sanders. For the first time he's seeing Sanders have a problem being both commissioner and wrestler, says that everyone knows why he put Kwee-Wee in the ring with Goldberg, wanted him mowed out. Ric's here to make everything equal and makes Sanders next.
Career-Threatening Streak Match(?): Goldberg (20-0) vs "Above Average" Mike Sanders (WCW Cruiserweight Champion)
Goldberg wastes no time tossing him in the ring, delivering a pumphandle slam, followed by a spear and the jackhammer for the win in 37 seconds. (21-0) Man he killed both of them with those spears.
Commercial
Pamela is backstage with Booker T and asks if he thinks Goldberg will get involved in his title defense. First he says that Luger's shtick about having 4% body fat means nothing to him, some player hater is always trying to take what he has but it won't be that easy tonight. As for Goldberg if he steps to Booker he'll tell him to back the hell off, or they'll take care of business.
Reminder of what at Halloween Havoc, when Douglas cost Cat the commissionership against Sanders, then the following night when he laid Ms. Jones out with a backbreaker.
Douglas and Torrie come out. He tells the inbred morons of Augusta to have a seat while Torrie takes the mic. She says this is the first time she's been in front of Georgia, inbred rednecks, then puts on a southern accent for some more cheap heat, cars on cinderblocks, 16 year old mother, you get the idea. She's from LA and tells them not to hate her for being beautiful. Douglas says they're lucky for being part of the largest family reunion in Georgia history, then though Flair talked about pretty ladies earlier, all he sees is fat, toothless, ugly ladies. Then turns his attention to Cat who he says has been talking shit about him while they were on vacation, yet I don't remember one mention of Franchise in the last three weeks of shows. He says a date with the Franchise ends a lot harsher than one with that skank Ms. Jones, making the challenge for Mayhem. Onto Bagwell now. He says Buff has the unenviable task of coming out to face a Franchise, one that has three weeks of rest under his belt, and wants Buff to come take an asskicking like a man.
The Franchise (w/ Torrie Wilson) vs Buff Bagwell
Douglas with a cheap shot before sending Buff face first into the corner. Buff sent off the ropes, through the legs, misses a clothesline, ducks another and hits a crossbody. Swinging neckbreaker off a knee to the gut, but then he's caught with a Samoan drop. Douglas with a rear chinlock before choking him over the middle rope, then Torrie joins in to choke Buff. Douglas with a nasty looking piledriver, then starts stomping and choking Buff. Douglas cranking his neck across the apron, then back in the ring to crank it some more. Scoop slam by Douglas after an eye rake before more neck cranking. Douglas gets him up for the electric chair to counter.
Buff with some rights and lefts before sending Douglas off the ropes into a back elbow. Douglas off the ropes again but catches Buff with the Pittsburgh Plunge, only to get a two count. Douglas with rights in the corner and more choking before sending Buff across the ring. Douglas dropped with a back elbow before Buff hits a Vader Bomb for two. Douglas sent off the ropes into a clothesline, then a dropkick. Torrie distracts the ref as Buff hits a scoop slam, then ducks a clothesline and Douglas knocks Torrie off the apron. Double-arm DDT by Buff. Buff to the middle rope only for Jarrett to run out and stop him from leaping off. Now Cat is out to attack Jarrett. Buff still hits the Blockbuster for the win in 5:47. It was fine. As basic a TV match as you can get but not awful.
Cat gets a mic and calls Douglas a crazy chump for thinking he can beat him, but doesn't want to wait until Sunday. He says that if Douglas does beat him he'll even crawl across the ring, pucker up and kiss his ass. Instead though he dances with Ms. Jones.
Commercial
Reminder of Steiner getting himself DQ'd at Halloween Havoc, then putting Sting on the shelf last week.
Which now brings out Steiner with a box of tissues as he pretends to cry and wipe his tears, even though he's wearing sunglasses. He'd like to say he's sorry if he was, but gave him fair warning that he was going to hurt him, because Sting is no match for the genetic freak. Steiner saw him trembling in his boots and gave him warning to walk away from the man with the largest arms in the world. Instead he listened to the cheers of the fans, and it got him hurt. He wants Sting to think about one thing while he's recuperating at home, that when he comes back Steiner guarantees to hurt him again.
As for Ric now, he looks at Ric and sees an old son of a bitch, still trying to screw him out of his World Title. He says Ric should have asked Goldberg before changing the stipulation for the main event, because he gave Goldberg the worst defeat of his career and wants no more of him. Steiner proved to Goldberg he was a mere mortal against the genetic freak, so he gives Ric fair warning, that if he keeps crossing his path he has no problem hurting Ric too.
He says on Sunday, he's going to look at Booker and the world, and say "veni vidi vici"... or at least that's what he tries to say but he kinda butchers it. He knows it's not in Booker's ebonics handbook, and none of the white trash in Augusta know what it means, he's going to give Booker the same thing he gave Sting, which is the worst defeat of his career and put him out of wrestling. He reminds Booker that he's the man with the largest arms in the world, a genetic freak, and if Booker thought Steiner punked his ass at Havoc, things will be worse because there won't be anyone to save him in a cage. He says Booker's career will be in jeopardy and will end his reign as World Champion. He tells the fans to get on their knees and pay homage to the next World Champion as he flexes in the corner.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship: The Total Package vs Booker T (c)
If Luger wins, he'll defend the championship against Goldberg at Mayhem. Steiner is on commentary.
Luger retreats to the ropes as Booker applies a wrist lock, then gets caught with a side kick as he tries one of his own. Booker sent off the ropes into a back elbow after ducking a clothesline. Luger lures him in just to send him out to the floor, then whips Booker into the guard rail. Back in the ring, Booker is sent off the ropes and forearmed in the back twice, followed by a back suplex by Luger for two. Booker sent back and forth across corners into a powerslam for two.
Booker sent to the corner, catches Luger with an elbow, then a boot then a spinning front kick to the face. Luger off the ropes into a clothesline, then Booker counters an Irish whip to set up the ax kick. Luger tries a clothesline but he's countered again and Booker delivers on the second try, followed by a spinaroonie. Steiner leaves commentary as he notices Goldberg come out, which also distracts Booker. Steiner and Goldberg go at it until Steiner rakes the eyes, security rushing out to break things up. Luger gets a chair just as Goldberg comes in, Booker ducks the chair and Luger eats a spear. Booker retains in 3:46.
Booker and Goldberg argue and then Steiner comes in to fight, security trying to separate them again as Nitro goes off the air.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
So aside from Goldberg's matches and the opener, this show was pretty forgettable. The only real complaint is the 20 minutes of mostly pointless segments and no wrestling in the middle. Right now, Mayhem is looking like a one-match show with nothing else remotely interesting. With a run time of 1:29:48, this show had a total 22 minutes of wrestling.
Thunder
Still in Augusta for this edition of Thunder, the final show before Mayhem. Welcomed by Schiavone, Ray and Tenay.
Sanders comes out icing his neck, joined by Jindrak and O'Haire. Sanders gets a mic and says wrestling Goldberg was the dumbest thing he's done in his career. Then he says his cohorts were supposed to have a tag team match tonight, but after what Goldberg did to Kwee-Wee on Nitro, he's unable to make it and Sanders actually sympathizes with the guy, telling him to rest up for Mayhem. He wants this to be declared a forfeit, but Meng makes his way out intent on going alone.
Mark Jindrak & Sean O'Haire vs Meng
Meng is sent off the ropes by Sean, then gets a knee lift to the face, before Jindrak hits a flying clothesline. Meng fights back wildly with rights and gets Sean with a Samoan drop. Sean misses a spinning roundhouse, then connects with another and they take Meng to the corner. Meng sent across the ring and Sean hits a clothesline. Jindrak tries to launch off his back but he's chopped midair. Meng with shots on Sean until Jindrak clubs at the back. Meng sent off the ropes, breaks a double clothesline and delivers kicks and chops. Meng ducks a clothesline by Jindrak and he nails Sean instead, then applies a double Deathgrip. Thrillers run out for the DQ in 2:29. I don't even know what to make of this match, Meng didn't sell anything, and it was just a mess of moves until the DQ.
Five on one ensues as Meng tries to fight them off, then Nash and DDP make the save. Sanders gets a mic as the Thrillers run off and says Nash and Page are starting to piss him off, then offers Page any one of them for a match tonight. Page wants Sanders' "Cheese Whiz sucking ass" but says he has commissioner work to attend to, and Stasiak steps up to the plate instead. Page accepts, but Sanders then makes it a Lumberjack Match. Page doesn't care.
Steiner is backstage with a pipe.

3 Count is in the ring. Shannon says his ankles are feeling good because they don't have that ankle weight Evan with them anymore. Shane says there were going to cut back on the singing and dancing, but knows the fans want the best, and the WCW kings of pop are back in the house. Also there's about 13 minutes missing from this Network, one thing we seem to have missed is Ric putting a no contact rule on Booker and Steiner for tonight. We also learn that Ray did an interview with Steiner that I guess we'll see later.
Shannon Moore (w/ Shane Helms) vs Yang (w/ Leia Meow) vs Evan Karagias (w/ Jamie Noble)
Shannon goes right after Evan as Yang lets him go at it. Evan sent off the ropes and back drops Shannon to the floor. Yang with a sunset flip on Evan for two. Yang misses a spinning heel kick, then Evan with a snap suplex, cover and Shannon saves it. Shannon with boots to Evan in the corner, then Yang pokes Shannon in the eye, sending his head into Evan's. Dropkick to Shannon and a cover, Evan saves it. Evan sent off the ropes, wheelbarrow facebuster to Yang. Shannon with chops to Evan and a knee to the gut, then a stepup leg drop. Shannon sent off the ropes by Yang, delivers a tilt-a-whirl arm drag. Shannon sent off the ropes by Evan into a Thesz Press. Evan wastes time grandstanding allowing Yang to hit a clothesline. Yang sent off the ropes into a press slam out onto the floor. Shannon sent to the corner, gets Evan with an elbow, runs into a powerslam for two.
Dropkick by Yang to Shannon as Noble and Leia argue on the floor. Shannon sent off the ropes by Evan into a spinebuster, cover and Yang breaks it up. Shane pulls Evan out to the floor but he's sent into the guard rail. Yang with the Deadeye on Shannon back in the ring for the win in 4:37. Much like the first match, this was just a lot of moves thrown together with little coherence to it.
Shane and Evan are still fighting on the floor as Yang celebrates.
Commercial
Filthy Animals come out. Konnan does his usual pre-match shtick and calls Boogie Knights "Mr. and Mrs. Deepthroat" and cranberries, then calls Kronik talentless slugs, then says the Knights will have to get a Filthy Animal asskicking eventually instead of paying people off to do their business. Rey gets the mic and calls them asslickers, says the Knights don't have the look or know how to wrestle and tells them not to step up to the Animals. Kidman knows Disqo is at home, by himself as usual, nursing a back injury, but can't figure out how that happened when Disqo is always on his knees. They want to wish Disqo to get well so he's 100% at Mayhem.
Wright is out next. He has a big surprise for the Animals before bringing out Kronik. Another segment was cut out apparently between the three earlier, and only Clark is out dressed to wrestle. Apparently Wright only had enough money for one of them to do the job tonight.
Billy Kidman & Rey Mysterio Jr. (w/ Konnan & Tygress) vs Bryan Clark (w/ Bryan Adams & Alex Wright)
Kidman starts the match and is easily overpowered into the corner for chops and knees. Kidman gets in some shots but is sent across the ring and caught with a shoulder block. Kidman sent off the ropes into a back elbow. Kidman sent off the ropes but delivers a headscissor, then a dropkick. Rey tags in. Springboard dropkick takes down Clark. Kidman with a baseball slide and Rey with a bronco buster. Rey sent off the ropes, through the legs, off the ropes, tries a wheelbarrow move only to be slammed down on his back.
Rey taken to the corner for more boots then sent off the ropes into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Rey sent off the ropes, through the legs, dropkicks to the knee and a DDT takes down Clark. Kidman back in, goes up top hits a spinning back elbow, then a bulldog out of the corner. Kidman tries a scoop slam but can't get him up, then Clark tries a powerbomb but Kidman reverses into a facejam. Rey with a springboard dropkick and both pile on Clark for the cover, but only gets two.
Clark sent off the ropes, tosses Ry easide, then Kidman voids a scoop slam before delivering one of his own. Kidman sent off the ropes, tripped up by Wright, then caught with a chokeslam. Adams attacks Konnan and Rey attacks him, but it does no effect. Kidman is clubbed from the apron by Wright so Clark can deliver the Meltdown for the win in 4:38. It was fine I guess.

Sanders is on the phone in his office until Steiner storms in, throwing the phone across the room in a fit of rage. I guess the interview with Steiner was also cut because he claims Stevie set him up, and since he can't touch Booker, he wants Sanders to find him fresh meat.

Okerlund is backstage with the Thrillers, specifically with Stasiak ahead of his match tonight. He takes a long time to say nothing. Literally nothing. He hypes up that he's about to say something and then just doesn't and laughs it off.
Out comes Booker. He says he appreciates the support of his true fans and loves them all, and the last four months have been hectic, with a bullseye on his back, every hater have been trying to take him out. He repeats that they'll have to kill him to take the title off him. He's done some things he's not proud of, like giving Major Guns a Book End, apologizing for putting his hands on a woman. He also nailed Sting with a chair and also apologizes for that. From this point on though, we won't be seeing the same kissass Booker T. Which brings him to Goldberg, he doesn't know what happened on Nitro, but if Goldberg wants the title, they can do it in the ring, or the parking lot, and if Goldberg beats him he can have the title.
Which of course brings out the man himself. He's surprised there's doubt in Booker's mind, he thought Booker knew him, says he has no ulterior motives, he doesn't follow the lead of the company, he does what he wants to do, but he's also a standup man. He gives credit to Booker for defending week after week like a true champion, but says when you deal with backstabbers like Steiner and Luger, you gotta watch your back. As far as Nitro goes, he says he saved Booker's ass, but Booker will believe what he wants anyways. He knows Booker will defend like a true champion Sunday, but after that, whoever has the belt will be next. He cuts no corners, he doesn't stab backs, and he wants Booker to see what's coming when it happens. He wishes Booker luck and they shake hands.

Nash is with Page backstage. Nash says he knows the Thrillers in and out, says Stasiak is deceptively stupid, but Page figured that was Palumbo. Nash is reading a newspaper and says Catherine Harris is hot.
Okerlund is backstage with Cat, Ms. Jones and Buff, they have Douglas and Jarrett tonight in a tag match. Buff thanks Cat and Jones for helping him out, then says Sting is the only franchise in WCW. He says he's going to show Jarrett that he's Buff, and he's the stuff. Cat says he'd tag with his mom to get his hands on Douglas, if he beats him tonight he'll beat him again on Sunday. Then he'll teach Okerlund how to dance, but Okerlund claims he could've wiped the floor with Cat 20 years ago with his dancing skills.
The Franchise (w/ Torrie Wilson) & Jeff Jarrett vs Buff Bagwell & The Cat (w/ Ms. Jones)
Pre-Match: Douglas as always has a mic as he comes out. He says he's the only franchise around, though he agrees that Buff is the stuff, saying he got all kinds of it on his fist on Nitro from pounding his head in. He says Cat won't beat him on his best day and Shane's first, and he and someone special have ass kicking for the two of them. Jarrett comes out and says he saw the interview earlier and nearly puked his guts out before making fun of Buff's catchphrase and hat. He says he's going to knock the stuff and his stupid hat off his head. As for Ric, he says his mind games have only just begun, and though Ric has all the power, he still has all the stroke.

Steiner comes out and gets a mic. He was sitting in the back watching Goldberg and Booker earlier having a love fest, reminding us he finished Goldberg back at Fall Brawl and punked his ass. He says he beat Goldberg like a bitch and showed him that size does matter. Booker keeps saying that Steiner will have to pry the belt from his dead hands, but reminds him he would have been dead at Havoc not security intervened, but that won't happen at Mayhem, no one will save his ass in a cage. He tells him to save the last days as champion and as a wrestler, vowing to put Booker down and take him out. Then he's going to party like a World Champion, he only cares about two things: his freaks and his peaks.
Scott Steiner vs Big Vito

Steiner with a T-bone suplex from the middle rope and the Recliner gets the win in 7:29. Wasn't awful but a lot of this match was filler,, between posing, flexing, taunting the crowd and jawjacking with Stevie.

Bigelow immediately drives a trash can into Awesome's back as he slides into the ring, and Reno goes after Crowbar on the floor with a lid. Awesome is supposed to do a suicide dive as Bigelow throws a trash can on his head, and they do succeed, but they both stand there awkwardly, and Bigelow stands there ready to throw the can twice looking like an idiot. Not to mention Awesome lands right on his head on the floor. Then Bigelow is completely out of position as Crowbar delivers an Asai moonsault an hits the floor.

Then Bigelow comes back to life to spear Awesome through the other table in the corner. Reno barely comes to and falls on top of Crowbar to get the win in 8:51. Page counters a scoop slam into the Diamond Cutter, makes the cover but the ref is just coming to as Nash and O'Haire start going at it. Palumbo grabs a chair to crack Page across the back. Stasiak is pulled on top for the win in 5:27. It was a fine match. There was no reason to make this a Lumberjack Match though.
Nash checks on Nash as the Thrillers leave in victory. Nash tries to tell the ref what happened, but Nash lays him out with the jackknife anyways. And that's how the show ends.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
For a go-home show, this was... less than great. Nothing good, just fine, or OK, or bad. There wasn't a lot of coherence to this show. The best I can say is that this show was meh. With a runtime of 1:17:52, this show had a total 38:13 of wrestling
