WCW Cruiserweight Championship: Kwee-Wee (w/ Paisley) vs "Above Average" Mike Sanders (c)
Pre-Match: Sanders comes out with a mic in hand. Sanders understands Kwee-Wee is the #1 contender for his belt, but doesn't even know him anymore, dressed in pink, before smacking him in the face .
Kwee-Wee with a Thesz Press and vicious rights, then some back and forth, Kwee-Wee with a hip toss, dropkick and clothesline sending Sanders out to the floor. Sanders brings out the Thrillers and Jindrak hits a springboard clothesline right in front of the referee. Sanders stomping away sends Kwee-Wee to the floor allowing Jindrak to send him into a clothesline from O'Haire. Kwee-Wee hip tossed from the floor over the ropes into the arms of Sanders for a powerslam. Now Paisley comes back out with a Meng wig and Meng himself as Sanders covers for two.
Meng takes on the Thrillers by himself and no sells the attack as Sanders covers again in the ring. Meng has a double deathgrip on Stasiak and Reno and the Thrillers can't break his grip, so Ric comes out with security as Sanders chokes Kwee-Wee over the middle rope. Sanders argues with Ric as security manages to break apart Meng and the Thrillers. More choking by Sanders. Snapmare and a front kick by Sanders followed by a knee drop as Ric ejects Meng and the Thrillers, Sanders covers for two.
Rear chinlock by Sanders. Kwee-Wee ffights out and springboards into a sunset flip for two, then a clothesline by Sanders, then a cover for two. Cobra clutch by Sanders. Kwee-Wee fights his way out, ducks a clothesline and delivers a back suplex. Trading shots now before Sanders is sent off the ropes into a gut shot, then a knee lift and a clothesline. Back body drop by Kwee-Wee and some mounted rights in the corner, then Kwee-Wee sent across the ring sending Sanders to the apron. Kwee-Wee tries a sunset flip to the floor but Sanders counters with a hurricanrana.
Back in the ring, Paisley slaps Sanders from the apron and Kwee-Wee uses her wig to blind him before delivering more rights. Sanders sent to the corner, then back across the ring, Paisley comes in to hit a handspring elbow. Sanders gets a boot up on Kwee-Wee, then avoids a back suplex and hits that Orton backbreaker for the win in 7:53. I suppose it was a fine opener? We really didn't need the Meng/Thrillers crap, or Paisley getting involved for reasons.
Okerlund is backstage with Ric. Ric says WCW represents wrestling, winning and losing, and decrees that unless a wrestler is in a match tonight they aren't allowed at ringside, which of course excludes valets and managers.
Boogie Knights are talking to Kronik elsewhere. Disqo says he's still in agony, so he wants Kronik to team with Wright tonight, handing them some cash. Wright has to hand cash over but it still isn't enough. Kronik agrees to be Wright's partners but only for seven and a half minutes, Disqo figuring that's all they'll need. Wright is pissed.
Okerlund is back again with Evan and Noble. Evan says 3 Count are jealous while he's driving a Cadillac and says something about being from North Carolina, which I guess gives them some kind of connection. Apparently Evan also slept with Noble's sister and cheated on her. I couldn't understand a thing Evan was on about.
Crowbar is still doing this 70s shtick walking backstage with a couple of ladies.
3 Count vs The Jung Dragons (w/ Leia Meow) vs Evan Karagias & Jamie Noble
Pre-Match: 3 Count are out first with some mics. Shane makes a small dick joke toward Evan before they do their performance and thankfully interrupted by the Dragons.
Dragons try to get the jump on Evan and Noble on the ramp but it backfires, then 3 Count join in. Evan whipped upside down into the guard rail as Dragons an 3 Count return to the ring. Atomic drops by the Dragons then 3 Count dance a bit, duck clotheslines, then Dragons dance a bit before eating some rights. 3 Count are backdropped over the ropes to the floor.
Evan and Noble return tot he ring, Noble with a crossbody to Yang on the outside, then Evan sent off the ropes by Kaz but caught with a facebuster. Chops by Kaz until he's sent off the ropes into a powerslam for two. Kaz sent off the ropes, launched up and sent down. Shane tags in off Kaz and goes nose to nose with Evan, trading shots, then Evan sent off the ropes to deliver a Thesz Press on Shane. Shannon knocked off the apron before Noble tags in. Shane sent off the ropes into back elbows, then Noble with a wrist lock takes Shane down to his knees. Shane fights out with some rights before Noble is sent off the ropes, catches Shane with a hip toss into an arm lock.
Noble sent off the ropes, avoids a scoop slam, tries a roll up as Shannon tags himself in off Shane, Shane with a waistlock on Noble with a heel kick/German suplex combo. Shannon covers but Yang makes the save. Noble sent off the ropes then catches Shannon with a powerbomb. Yang tags himself in off Noble before tagging in Kaz, Shannon sent to the corner for a dropkick, then an enziguri. Shannon ducks a roundhouse, misses a clothesline and runs into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Shannon avoids a short-arm clothesline before delivering a stepup fameasser.
Shane back with an Xplex for two. Kaz gets Shane with an inside cradle while Evan has the ref distracted, Shannon comes in to reverse the pin but it only gets two. Roll up by Kaz, then a gutwrench suplex by Shane. Shane up top with a diving sunset flip but Kaz rolls through and kicks him in the side of the head. Yang back in and Shannon tags in. Evan comes in and both eats some blows and a spinebuster. Noble comes in and eats a dropkick. Kaz celebrates a little too early and gets a sleeper slam for two from Shannon.
Michinoku Driver from Evan on Shannon for a cover but Kaz breaks it up. Kaz with a brainbuster on Evan and a cover but Noble saves it. Leaping tombstone by Noble on Kaz for a cover but Shane breaks it up. Shane with an inverted DDT and a cover but Yang pulls him out of the ring before delivering a tilt-a-whirl headscissor to the floor. Shannon with a tope onto Yang. Evan with a crossbody to Shannon. Kaz with a tope of his own. Noble up top with a senton onto everyone. Yang with a corkscrew moonsault onto everyone. Leia up top with a crossbody onto everyone.
Yang takes Shannon back into the ring, but now Noble pulls out a ladder. Yang dropkicks through the ropes over the ladder into Noble's face before he can use it. Evan tries to slide in in under Yang but Shannon sends it into his face with a baseball slide. Yang spikes Shannon with a DDT before going up top but Noble cuts him off. Noble tries a superplex but Shane throws him to the mat. Shane launches off of Yang's back with a splash onto Noble and covers but Ean saves it.
Shane is tossed out to the floor as Evan joins Yang up top, but Kaz gets him on his shoulders. Yang tries a doomsday device but Evan rolls through into a victory roll, while Yang hits Shannon with a crossbody for double pins, but get near falls. Shannon sent off the ropes, ducks a double clothesline from the Dragons. Shane pulls Kaz out as Shannon gets Yang up on his shoulders, Shane comes in for their Samoan drop/rolling neckbreaker combo for the win in 10:55. I can't complain about this one, aside from this 3 Count push.
Cut to the back where Bigelow has put Awesome through a table and wails him with a chair. AWOL just happens to be walking nearby so he attacks Bigelow for the save sending him into a support column. Apparently Awesome and Bigelow are set to have a match tonight.
Pamela is elsewhere backstage with Boogie Knights and Kronik. She confirms that it'll be Wright and Kronik teaming up in the match and asks if the Knights will be broke after tonight. Alex calls her a stupid blonde and a gold digger, and tells her to shut up, Disqo predicts a victory for them tonight in less than 8 minutes. Adams corrects and says it has to be under 7:30 and not a second more. Clark says they're walking out at the 7:31 point if it comes to it. Disqo says they'll settle up later if they go over, and says Pam can vouch for his good credit.
Okerlund is elsewhere with Jimmy Hart, who has his leg taped up and is on crutches. Apparently he said some terrible things about the women in Wisconsin in a newspaper interview but he claims he was misquoted. Jimmy claims he got this injury when he and Mancow last met, but Gene says his cast is as real as Major Guns'.... Well he doesn't get to finish the thought as Jimmy cuts him off. Jimmy wants to get 3 Count but some crew member comes over to get him ready to go to the ring.
Thrillers are for some reason freaking out in Sanders' office. Reno assures he's got Crowbar and Vito covered and leaves.
Mancow vs "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart
Pre-Match: Mancow comes out with his radio crew, I don't know who they are. He also has a mic. Milwaukee loves some Mancow. Apparently Flair told him this match is unsanctioned, he's allowed to have his crew with him. He gets a few cheap pops and plugs Goldberg's book, calls Madden a fat son of a bitch before calling Jimmy out to meet his destiny. Jimmy comes out milking his injury on crutches. Jimmy gets the mic and apologizes to his fans and says Mancow is the greatest radio personality in the world, wanting two more weeks to heal up. Mancow spits on him and compares him to Al Gore, because he doesn't know when to say goodbye, and compares himself to Bush and has already kicked Jimmy's ass.
Mancow turns his back allowing Jimmy to crack him with a crutch to get things started. Two of his crew guys hit a double clothesline on Jimmy. Now 3 Count run down with dropkicks on them while Mancow chokes Jimmy until they make the save. Mancow just goes back on the attack though until Jimmy hits a low blows. Jimmy mounts now with shots until he grabs a crutch . 3 Count take his crew to the back, then Mancow cracks Jimmy in the back with the other crutch. Jimmy removes the cast and nails Jimmy in the face with it for the win in 1:42. OK I actually kinda enjoyed this, I can't believe it. Not that it was good, it was just oddly entertaining. And Mancow can at least work a mic.
Mancow then punches him in the ass a few times before Jimmy retreats and Mancow celebrates.
Awesome is put on a stretcher as Crowbar is there to check on him.
MIA is in the locker room sans Rection, upset that they can't be out there for the US/Canadian Title match. They insist on going out there with him, but Rection comes around to say he wants Storm one on one, Now in walks Flair and takes AWOL aside for something.
Storm is talking to Bigelow backstage.
Pamela is backstage with the Filthy Animals sans Konnan. Rey says Disqo's plans always fail like he does in life, and Konnan isn't there because he partied too hard last night. Kidman implies Kronik aren't good wrestlers and says Disqo isn't man enough to get in the ring himself, and even without Konnan they'll get the job done.
WCW Hardcore Championship: Big Vito vs Reno vs Crowbar (c)
Pre-Match: Vito comes out with some kind of bag, and Reno comes out with a kendo stick.
For some reason the bell rings before Crowbar even comes out, and Vito and Reno have a sword fight with kendo sticks. Vito takes it to Reno with rights and knees before Vito's sent off the ropes into a back drop. Crowbar finally comes out and grabs himself a trash can lid, nailing Reno in the back of the head and back. Vito nails him with a Mafia Kick, then a lid to the head of Reno before tossing him out to the floor. Kendo stick to the ribs of Crowbar by Vito before he's tossed through the ropes into Reno to the floor.
Vito with a kendo stick to the back and legs of both opponents, then Vito grabs the belt nailing both in the back with it. Reno taken back to the ring and sent to the corner for boots. Vito no sells two kendo stick shots to the back by Crowbar and nails him with a stick ball bat. Vito empties his bag and pulls out a traffic cone and a baseball bat, hitting the traffic cone into Reno's balls with it. Ball to the ribs of Crowbar, then a Russian leg sweep with the bat by Vito. Lid is set on Crowbar's crotch and Vito nails it with the bat.
Reno nails Vito in the back with the lid, then Crowbar in the head with it. Crowbar with a German suplex to Reno, then chokes him with a kendo stick, then across the back. Lid to the head of Crowbar by Vito, then stick across the back of Reno. Crowbar and Vito trade shots until Reno nails Vito in the back with a bat. Crowbar gets Vito in the ribs with it while Reno tosses in a trash can and crutch. Crutch is broken over the back of Vito before Reno keeps stomping away. Crowbar and Reno take forever to figure out how to do a double team flapjack onto a trash can. Bat to the back of Crowbar by Reno repeatedly, then Vito. Lid to the head of Crowbar. Vito is tossed out to the floor. by Reno.
Kendo stick to the back of Vito, then some rights by Vito. Kendo stick to the back and head of both as Vito and Reno go up beside the aisle and to the back. Trash can to the head of Reno. Crowbar follows them as Vito is whipped into an equipment case. Trash can to the back of the head of Reno by Crowbar, then Reno hits him in the head with it. Reno powerslams Reno through a refreshment table. Now Maria, Vito's sister, is suddenly here as Reno goes to wail Vito with a chair, They argue and are barely heard which allows Crowbar to hit the chair back into Reno's face to retain in 7:52.
Buff is walking backstage looking for... something. He has some kind of idea.
Nash and DDP mumble through a conversation, and somewhere in there they say Thrillers are SOL tonight or something.
Gene is backstage with Cat and Ms. Jones. Gene hits on her and Cat threatens to kick his ass if he does that again. Cat says if Franchise can beat him he'll crawl across the ring to kiss his dirty feet and leave the country for 30 days. Gene says he can rock Jones' world and keep her up all night.
Filthy Animals (w/ Tygress) vs Alex Wright & Kronik (w/ Disqo)
Wright and Kidman start the match, only for Wright to immediately tag in Adams. Kidman thrown to the mat off a headlock attempt, then sent off the ropes, popped up, catches Adams with a hurricanrana. Arm drag by Kidman takes Adams to the corner, then he blocks an Irish whip and shoves Kidman to the mat. Gorilla press until Kidman pokes him in the eyes and applies a sleeper, but he's thrown overhead and caught with the full nelson slam.
Wright tags himself in and makes the cover but Rey makes the save. Kidman chopped in the corner before getting sent across the ring, followed by a dropkick on the rebound. Kidman sent back across the ring and avoids a splash, caught with a headscissor. Clark and Rey tag in. Rey thrown into the corner and stomped down by Clark, then sent off the ropes, through the legs, trips him up and hits a facebuster. Springboard leg drop for two. Springboard wheelbarrow countered into a spinebuster by Clark before throwing Rey back into the corner. Clark misses a corner splash and Rey gets a boot up, tries a hurricanrana from the middle rope but caught with a sitout powerbomb.
Clark is about to hit the Meltdown, but Wright wants tagged in. Stalling suplex and a cover broken up by Kidman. Clark back in, Rey caught with a big boot. Wright back in and covers, Kidman breaks it up. Rey chopped in the corner and sent across the ring, gets a boot up, delibers a tilt-a-whirl headscissor only to run into a clothesline. Rey sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline and delivers forearms, then runs into a spin kick, cover and Kidman saves again.
Wright goes to make the tag, but Kronik's time is up. Kidman and Rey attack now in the ring. Disqo tries to negotiate but Rey is sent to the corner, then Wright, Rey popped up into a dropkick drops Wright in the corner. Baseball slide to the balls and a Bronco Buster combo, then Wright sent off the ropes, catches Kidman with a boot and hits a belly to belly on Rey sending him out of the ring. Kidman sent off the ropes, popped up and hits a sitout spinebuster. Rey up top with a leg drop to the groin for the win in 7:51. Yeah this was bad.
Sanders and the Thrillers are talking backstage. Sanders says he has something special planned for the tag title match.
Okerlund is elsewhere with Steiner and Midajah with pipe and straightjacket in hand. Steiner reiterates that Booker would've been dead at Havoc had security not stepped in, and says death is ratings. He says most can't function in his state of mind and he's at his best right now.
The Franchise (w/ Torrie Wilson) vs The Cat (w/ Ms. Jones)
Pre-Match: Shane has a mic, because of course he does. He says he was ready to puke his guts out listening to Cat earlier, then calls himself and Torrie twisted steel and sex appeal, and the first couple of sports entertainment. He doesn't lay down for anyone and says there's a long list of people in the last 20 years who've said they'd kick his ass. Now Cat comes out with a mic and says he'll twist Shane's ass all over Milwaukee.
Arm wringer and a series of kicks to the chest send Douglas scurrying to the floor. Douglas gets Jones by the hair and she nails a nice looking kick to the side of the head. Douglas tossed onto the announce table and then Cat randomly starts choking Madden until Shane makes the save. Cat nails him with some drink before taking it back to the ring. Torrie grabs Cat's ankle and allows Shane to pull him down across the top rope, then suplexes him into the ring.
Boots by Shane then Torrie chokes Cat over the middle rope. Cat fights back until he gets a thumb in the eye, Cat sent off the ropes into a back elbow. Choking by Shane now, then a snapmare into a neck vice. Cat fights out and goes off the ropes only to get a knee to the ribs. Elbow and more choking by Shane. Cat fights back with thrusts to the throat and chest, then the corner punches only to be countered with an atomic drop. Butterfly suplex by Douglas for two.
Another neck vice that Cat fights out of, off the ropes, misses a clothesline, Shane tries a sunset flip but eats a right hand and an elbow, followed by an uppercut for two. Throat thrust for two by Cat. Shane rakes the eyes before getting sent to the corner and eats a Feliner, then Cat is dizzy for some reason? Ms. Jones has to push him onto Shane for the cover and it only gets two. Torrie attacks Ms. Jones only to be whipped into the guard rail, then they get into the ring for a terrible looking catfight. Ref finally gets things broken up and somewhere in all this Douglas got a chain. Douglas nails Cat in the head with it but Cat gets his foot on the rope. Ref and Shane get into a shoving match and Shane falls over Cat, who rolls him up but only gets two.
Shane follows with a clothesline, then boots to the chest. Shane tries a DDT but Cat holds onto the rope. Ms. Jones puts Cat's red shoes on him which I guess are loaded? Torrie tries to toss Shane the chain but he misses, Cat kicks him in the face with a roundhouse for the win in 8:03. Yeah this went too long and it was a long of nothing.
Jones gets his coat and he does his dancing.
Jarrett is backstage and finds his guitar smashed to pieces. Two crew members stooge off Buff.
Pamela is elsewhere with MIA. Loco tells Rection to take no prisoners and eliminate Canada by any means necessary. Rection says Lance made this personal, it's not about America or Canada, it's about the two of them and the US Title. Lance made it about Major Guns, and Cajun says they can keep that bitch. Rection wants the title and every bone in Lance's body broken, and it's not over until they say it's over.
There's a hype package for Glacier of all people and commentary immediately bury him. Poor bastard.
Bigelow is supposed to have a match with Awesome but they confirmed earlier he was taken away to a hospital after Bigelow's attack. Bigelow gets a mic to inform the live crowd of this, he has no opponent and declares himself the winner by forfeit. Flair's music hits and out he comes though with different plans.
Sgt. AWOL vs Bam Bam Bigelow
Pre-Match: AWOL out with a table, of course.
Shoving contest into the corner until AWOL lands some rights, then chokes and bites Bigelow. Bigelow counters an Irish whip with a knee to the gut, following with a Samoan drop for two. AWOL sent to the corner gets a boot up, then a double ax handle and sending Bigelow face first into the mat. More choking, now eye raking and some headbutts. AWOL with a rear chinlock from the middle rope followed by a flying clothesline for two.
Bigelow fighting back until his eyes are raked, then counters a back suplex into a splash for two. DDT by Bigelow before going up top for his falling headbutt but he misses. Boot to the chest by AWOL, then Bigelow sent off the ropes, delivers a kick then pushes AWOL to the corner. Bigelow sent off the ropes into a spinebuster. AWOL tries for the chokeslam but Bigelow gets him with Greetings from Asbury Park for the win in 5:40.
Bigelow suddenly collapses and the ref is calling for help but none are coming. Stevie Ray comes over to check what's going on and finally EMTs come out with a stretcher.
Okerlund is backstage with Bagwell, who's carrying what's left of Jarrett's guitar. He mocks Jarrett and says he now has no guitar or game plan.
Bigelow is still being loaded onto the stretcher.
Hype package for Rection vs Storm.
Bigelow still being loaded onto the stretcher as we get to the next match. I just want to point out the crowd didn't care one bit about any of this.
WCW Canadian Heavyweight Championship: Gen. Rection vs Lance Storm (c) (w/ Major Guns)
Pre-Match: Storm has his ribs taped up, we're told he was speared by Gorbachev in a celebrity hockey game. He wants to be serious for a minute and reiterates this will be there last match, and that's why he's out against doctor's orders, he's eager to put the clowns of MIA behind him and willing to risk his own personal health. While Rection talks about fighting through concussions and bad knees, he's out here with cracked ribs and a bulging disk in his back, but he's not making excuses or complaining about it. He's taken Rection's best friend, his girl and his title, all he has left to take is his country, but he doesn't want it, because he's from Calgary. Bigelow is only now being carted up the aisle as Rection interrupts the anthem. Bigelow finally drops the ruse to attack Rection from behind, sending him into the steps and clubbing away at him. Referees eventually pull him off.
Ref calls for the bell before Rection even gets up, Lance sending him into the other set of steps. Back in the ring, Rection with body blows until his eyes are raked, and his knees dropkicked out from under him. Lance working the knee now, scissoring the leg and torqueing the knee. Now Lance wraps it around the ring post a couple of times, only to be shoved backwards into the guard rail. Rights by Rection now and sends Lance into the rail again, until he kicks out the bad leg. Rection's knee stomped into the floor before returning to the ring. Stomps to the knee by Lance and tries to apply the Maple Leaf but Rection quickly gets to the ropes.
More knee work in the corner as Rection manages to fight free, then Storm tries for a baseball slide only for Rection to avoid it, and Lance sends himself groin first into the ring post. Rection pulls him into the post a second time, and on his way back in, Guns grabs him by the leg, allowing Storm to clip the bad one. Rection fighting back again as he tries a suplex but Lance kicks the bad knee and delivers one of his own for two, then again for two. An exchange of rights now until Rection is sent to the corner, floats over but eats a standing side kick.
Lance is caught with a powerslam though before Rection tries going up top, but Guns crotches him behind the ref's back. Storm tries a back suplex but he's elbowed off the middle rope to the mat, then the moonsault which barely connects gets Rection the title in 6:25. I mean it was OK I guess? It wasn't awful it was just kinda there. Might be because it didn't get enough time, but a clean win is nice for once.
Sanders tells Dillinger to send security home. Dillinger's not impressed.
Hype video for the next PPV, Starrcade.
Jeff Jarrett vs Buff Bagwell
Pre-Match: Jarrett gets a mic and actually gets a small pop for calling the fans slap nuts. He realizes Buff only has a few brain cells and makes fun of his hat, and says Buff hasn't outsmarted him despite smashing his guitars. He says when you have all the stroke you come prepared, and he's going to prove to the world that Buff ain't the stuff and he's just a goof.
Buff flips him off immediately, then shoves Jarrett away off a lock up before strutting the stuff. Jarrett with some cheap shots now stomping away, Buff sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline, delivers a boot and hits a swinging neckbreaker. Buff sent to the corner, catches Jarrett with an elbow and a Vader Bomb for two. Jarrett sent off the ropes, ducks a hip tossed, but then gets tossed over the ropes to the floor. Jarrett into the guard rail twice, then hit in the head with a foam guitar from a fan before choking him with a cable. Jarrett nails Buff with a mule kick to escape.
Jarrett gets a chair and cracks Buff across the back with it, then jabs it into his ribs, and a second time. Back in the ring with chair in hand, but the ref finally takes it away, Jarrett now stomping away. To the middle rope with a fist drop now and Buff leans over the middle rope, allowing Jeff to drop the leg across his back. More boots as Buff lays on the apron, Jarrett capitalizing with elbows to the neck and a boot to the head. Buff sent off the ropes back in the ring and caught with a sleeper, wearing Buff down as he starts to fade.
Buff comes back to life and sends Jarrett off the ropes into a sleeper of his own, but Jarrett counters with a back suplex. Jarrett back to the middle rope but gets double boots under the chin, then Jarrett tries his leg drop to the back but gets crotched on the middle rope. Buff with rights and a forearm, then a clothesline. Double-arm DDT by Buff, who goes to the middle rope but misses the Blockbuster. Buff sent to the corner, gets a boot up, back to the middle rope for a tornado DDT this time, but it only gets two.
Jarrett sent off the ropes, goes through the legs but takes out the ref in the process, before back dropping Buff to the floor. Jarrett goes out and grabs another chair but out comes David, DDT'ing Jeff onto the chair. Buff returns to the ring to cover but it only gets two. Buff goes up top now with a crossbody but Jarrett rolls through for a near fall. Buff avoids a scoop slam and hits an inverted DDT, covers and... Jarrett is too late to kick out and the ref just stops counting all of a sudden, and even commentary point it out.
Jarrett sent off the ropes and misses a crossbody, then Jarrett pulls a guitar out from under the ring. Buff argues with the ref and pushes him out of the way, allowing Jarrett to use the guitar for the win in 11:13. Surprisingly didn't hate this match, even if Jarrett's shtick is getting old.
Hype package for the tag title match.
WCW World Tag Team Championships: Perfect Event (c) (w/ Natural Born Thrillers) vs Kevin Nash & Diamond Dallas Page
Pre-Match: Sanders has made the Thrillers security as a loophole to Flair's edict.
Nash and Palumbo start the match. The live crowd want Scott Hall immediately. Nash tries for the jackknife immediately but Palumbo retreats to the floor. Nash overpowers him back in the ring on a lockup, getting him in the corner until Palumbo smacks him across the face, putting him in the corner for vicious rights. Nash gets him back with a knee and puts Palumbo in the corner for his usual corner offense, though a bit more viciously than usual. Palumbo sent across the ring for a clothesline, then back across, Palumbo tries to float over but gets snake eyes. Palumbo drops over the middle rope and Nash drops a leg across his back.
Stasiak blindsides Nash from the apron and gets knocked off for his troubles, and Page comes in to clothesline Palumbo out to the floor. Thrillers surround the ring and try to enter but are easily fought off. Flair comes out with Dillinger and the actual security to take the Thrillers out there. Sanders shows Ric a card that we learn is a manager's license, so Ric lets him stay.
Back to the action, Page is the legal man with Palumbo now. Page knocks Stasiak off the apron then tags in. A quick exchange with Page getting the better following a discus clothesline, then he and Nash ping-pong Stasiak with some rights. Page sent off the ropes, clubbed by Palumbo from the apron and caught with a DDT for two. Stasiak off the ropes with a swinging neckbreaker then stomps away before Palumbo tags back in. Double slingshot suplex for two.
Punt to the ribs of Page and some vicious rights, then a forearm to Nash. Page's boot is caught and he's spun around to his another discus clothesline. Pin is broken up by Stasiak. Stasiak comes in and Page is sent to the corner, Palumbo's whipped into him and misses a clothesline. Page clothesline's Stasiak but eats a savate kick, covers and Nash makes the save. Palumbo tries another pin but only gets two. Another punt to the ribs of Page and Stasiak is back in with rights in the corner, Page sent off the ropes, tries a sunset flip and pantses Palumbo in the process, before decking Page with a right. Stasiak drops down for a pin attempt, then Page rolls him up for two, decked with a clothesline as they get back up for two.
Page sent off the ropes into a back elbow for two. Palumbo tags in, goes up top and hits a crossbody for two. Nash decks Palumbo as he stops Page from making the tag but Page gets punted again back to the Thrillers' corner. Vicious rights from Palumbo, then Page fights out of the corner, but caught with a drop toe hold as he tries to get to his corner. Stasiak back in for a leg splitter, then an elbow off the ropes for two. Front facelock by Stasiak. Page eventually makes it to his corner while in the headlock to make the tag, Palumbo has the ref occupied so he doesn't see it. Page sent off the ropes into a sleeper Jarrett-style, then Page sends Palumbo off the ropes int a sleeper slam for two.
Page makes the hot tag, Nash with rights and a sidewalk slam to both, then Stasiak sent off the ropes into a big boot, then one for Palumbo. Nash gets Stasiak with the jackknife, and Page with the Diamond Cutter on Palumbo, Nash covers Stasiak for the pin, but Sanders pulls the referee out of the ring. Sanders eats a Diamond Cutter on the floor. Nash makes the cover again to win the titles in 14:54. Probably one of the better matches on this show so far, they kept it simple. Not sure if Nash and Page winning were the right choice, but what can ya do.
Pamela's backstage with Luger. Luger gets pissed at how he addresses him and threatens to expose her as a two-bit, nothing happening, incompetent interviewer that she is. I mean she does that pretty well on her own, but sure. He says Goldberg had his chance to battle for the World Title tonight, but he blew it and didn't do the right thing, and now it's just a retirement party for Goldberg, he's never faced an athlete as pure as Luger, he says he's the Michael Jordan of WCW, achieved everything. He has one more crowning glory and says he made Goldberg, and now he's going to break him.
Hype package for Goldberg vs Luger.
Career-Threatening Streak Match: Lex Luger vs Goldberg (21-0)
Pre-Match: Oddly we have Michael Buffer doing introductions for this match. Even weirder still he doesn't do his signature catchphrase, he just says "let's bring 'em on." Also it's explained by Madden that the streak stipulation can only be waived by Russo because he's the one who set it, even though Flair basically said it didn't matter on Nitro, so... yeah.
Goldberg gets a wristlock applied to start until Luger gets to the ropes. Goldberg does it again until Luger knees him in the gut and hits a back suplex. Goldberg pops up immediately and Luger backs up in shock into the corner. Ref tries to get between them allowing Luger to thumb the eye and deliver a clothesline. Goldberg taken tot he corner for rights and boots. Goldberg takes control when Luger wastes time to flex, Goldberg wailing with body shots and Luger retreats into the ropes again. Luger sent to the corner, gets a boot up and delivers a forearm to the head, then clotheslines Goldberg out to the floor.
Goldberg driven spine first into the guard rail, then some knees and some boots to the ribs. Back in the ring with some double sledges to the back by Luger, then sent off the ropes into a powerslam, then Goldberg mounts with vicious rights. Goldberg sets up for the spear but Luger pulls the ref in the way and both get speared. Goldberg nearly drops him on his head with the jackhammer and another ref runs down to make the count for the win in 5:55. (22-0) So what was the point of the ref bump exactly?
We have the cage lowering now as we get the hype package for our main event.
Straightjacket Caged Heat for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship; Scott Steiner (w/ Midajah) vs Booker T (c)
Pre-Match: WCW's version of the Cell, and as previously explained, a straightjacket hung from one corner of the roof above the turnbuckle.
Steiner barely lets Booker enter the cage before attacking him, only to be whipped into the cage, and then nailed in the face with the title. Steiner sent into the steps before Booker goes looking under the ring but doesn't find whatever he's looking for. Also for reasons unknown, Midajah was allowed into the cage and has a pipe in hand. Steiner face first off the apron before taking it to the ring. Steiner takes him to the corner now for boots and rights, hammering Booker down. Now some chops and Booker sent to the corner, gets a boot up and mounts with vicious rights. Side kick by Booker for two.
Steiner blocks a pair of suplexes to crotch Booker on the top rope, then knock him to the floor. Booker whipped into the cage now before returning to the ring. Booker set off the ropes into a clothesline, then an elbow and some pushups. Backbreaker by Steiner, then some boot to the ribs. More rights and chops in the corner, then his spinning belly to belly for two. Surfboard now by Steiner and Booker manages to fight out, then catches a boot, spins Steiner around to set up the ax kick, only to be decked with a clothesline. Steiner with a Samoan drop from the middle rope gets him a near fall.
Bearhug by Steiner now. Booker fights out again but he's caught with an inverted atomic drop and yet another clothesline. Booker ducks a clothesline and hits a forearm, then goes up top with the missile dropkick for two. Forearm to the face of Steiner as Booker goes for the straightjacket but he's cut of by Steiner with a Samoan drop. Steiner takes down the straightjacket but Booker takes him down with the electric chair.
Spin kick by Booker who now tries to put the jacket the completely wrong way on Steiner but obviously he can't get it on, then hits a knee drop. He tries again the right way this time. Booker leaves the ring to take out a chair now and nails Steiner in the head, though his arms haven't been tied up yet. Another chair shot to the head with the chair. Steiner rips his way out of the jacket to Booker's shock, who sends Steiner to the corner only to be turned inside out with a clothesline.
Steiner gets the Recliner applied and Booker gets to the ropes, but Steiner drags him back to the middle of the ring. Booker gets him up in the electric chair position again before dropping Steiner throat first on the top rope. Steiner with an exploder suplex, then to the middle rope and caught with the Book End, but Booker can't capitalize immediately, so it's a near fall. Clotheslines by Booker, then a swinging neckbreaker. Steiner sent off the ropes into another clothesline for two.
Booker counters an Irish whip to connect with the ax kick this time. Steiner gets the chair as Booker does the spinaroonie, then nailed in the head with the chair. Steiner does some version of a full nelson slam. Booker passes out to the Recliner in 13:11. Well the straightjacket and cage really added nothing to this match. And the crowd was fully behind heel Steiner here and popped for him winning the title. The action was alright, but Booker doesn't come out of it looking great.
Steiner gets the chair and attacks Booker's knees with it as referees rush down, Steiner removing Booker's knee brace. Steiner with a chair to the head of one ref then keeps attacking Booker. Last thing we see is scaring a ref away with the chair.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Best I can say is that this is a show that happened. Aside from maybe two or three matches, most of this show would have been better shown on a Nitro or even Thunder. Aside from the handicap match and the Franchise/Cat match, this show wasn't even that awful, it just... wasn't great. With a run time of 2:53:18, this show had a total 1:41:34 of wrestling.
