Week of November 27, 2000 - Mayhem Aftermath
Nitro
We cut to what's supposed to be the White House Briefing Room, where a man walks up to the podium to introduce the next US President. Then Jarrett appears out of nowhere to hit him with a guitar. He says there's one vote they forgot to count, then tells the guy to choke on that. I... What?
Recap package of Mayhem.
Live from the Metro Center in Rockford, IL for this edition of Nitro, welcomed by Schiavone, joined by Madden and Hudson on commentary. 3 Count is in the ring to perform before the opening match, but they're immediately interrupted by MIA, and I've never been more happy to see them.
3 Count vs Lt. Loco & Cpl. Cajun
3 Count immediately on the attack as MIA enter the ring. Cajun with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Shannon and Helms clotheslined to the floor by Loco. Scoop slam by Cajun, then a Boston crab by Loco, followed by a baseball slide to the face by Cajun. Helms gets clotheslined by Loco before Cajun tags in. Splash in the corner to Helms, then Shannon set on the middle rope, dropkicked right in the face. Draping DDT on Shannon for two by Cajun.
Cajun sent off the ropes, clubbed in the head by Helms, a step-up fameasser by Shannon for two. Backslide after a tag to Helms, who goes to the middle rope with a leg drop, then chokes Cajun, then again over the bottom rope. Cajun sent to the corner chest first then eats a super kick. Double team as they coax Loco into distracting the ref, then Shannon sent to the corner into a springboard facebuster by Cajun.
Loco gets the hot tag and in comes Helms. Dropkick and a DDT by Loco on Helms, cover and Shannon with the save. Helms sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline, a suplex into a sidewalk slam by 3 Count as Shannon distracts the ref. Helms is pulled out of the ring by Noble who appears, whipped Helms into a ladder held by Evan in the aisle. Shannon gets the ladder jabbeed in his ribs before Loco hits him with the brainbuster for the win in 4:13. An OK opener.
Commercial
Elix bumps into Ms. Jones backstage. Elix is still hitting on her and Cat comes out of his room nearby, daring Elix to take his pride. Storm comes behind to nail him with a chair.
Over to commentary and stills of the World Title match the night before, as well as the post-match attack. Booker is now on the shelf as a result. Madden actually shows sympathy for Stevie Ray having to watch what happened to his brother.
Okerlund is in the ring to have an interview with Steiner, joined as always by Midajah. Steiner appreciates the fans giving him an ovation, but says they need to close their eyes, get on their hands and knees, pucker up and kiss his ass. He proved that he only cares about two things, his freaks and his peaks. and when he put the hammer down on Booker, he went back to his hotel room to a chorus line of freaks, all horizontal and looking for satisfaction. There he was, standing there with nothing on but his boots and his belt, and sent sweet sensations up and down their spines all night long, until they called him the Big Bad Booty Daddy.
As he was in his sexual sanctuary he got his mind and body reenergized and came looking for a fight tonight, but Booker's not around looking for a rematch, Sting isn't looking for a title match because he sent them both to the hospital. Fans want Goldberg but Steiner says he's still punch-drunk from their last fight. He says it's not hard staying at the top when you take son of a bitches out like him. He says he has no opponent because they're all afraid and probably won't have one for a while, so he's going to give us a treat, a chance to kiss his ass.
Steiner's about to leave the ring, but Flair makes his way out. He congratulates Steiner and acknowledges him as the man, and as the flagship of WCW as Ric said before. He says they're going to build the greatest company in the world around the greatest World Champion, but with the notoriety comes responsibility and perks, one not being to be able to call his own shot. He's been on the phone all day because he wants Steiner to prove that he's the man again and again, and he's found an opponent who's on his way right now in a Leer jet, to challenge Steiner at Starrcade. Normally he'd wish some poor kid luck as they're about to wrestle Steiner, but at Starrcade he'll knock on Steiner's door and wish him luck instead.
Steiner starts listing possible names. He says Booker and Sting are in the hospital, Andre the Giant is dead, and he kicked Steve Austin's ass when he was in WCW, and Rock doesn't have the balls to show up there, if Ric smells what he's cooking. Ric assures him that his next challenger is in the same elite class as those two, and Steiner will find out. Ric moves on to Steiner's conduct and says Booker may never wrestle again, which gets a cheer from the crowd.
Stevie Ray storms his way out and powerwalks towards the ring until Ric and security get in the way. Stevie wants a fight tonight. Stevie calls him a punk ass jacked up synthetic fruit booty and wants Steiner tonight. He says if Steiner has the guts to do to him what he did to Booker he's gonna get his ass tonight. Steiner calls him a punk ass announcer and suggests they do Title vs Career tonight. Ric tries to talk him out of it, but Stevie is down. Ric makes it official for later. Stevie says he's gonna make Steiner his freak tonight. Alright that was a hell of a segment. Not particularly excited to see Stevie Ray wrestle though.
Commercial
Oh good, this continues. Boogie Knights are with Kronik backstage. Disqo wants their help tonight because he's still in pain. They write down a price on a piece of paper and of course they can't afford it and it's not negotiable.
Pamela is backstage with MIA. Rection says he did everything he said he was gonna do last night, they took the war to Team Canada and won, but couldn't have done it without the fans or the Misfits. They've won the battles and the war, the games are over and it's time to get serious. He hasn't forgotten about Bigelow though, who he says sold out to Storm, so Bigelow's ass is now his. He claims to be the Beast from the East, but he's never faced a machine like MIA. Loco tells him to give Bigelow hell and take no prisoners by any means necessary. Rection says he and Bigelow come from the same neck of the woods so let's see what he's got.
Yang (w/ Leia Meow) vs Lance Storm (w/ Major Guns)
Pre-Match: Lance is out here to be serious for a minute, not to complain about what happened at Mayhem, reminding us he wrestled with four broken ribs but it's no excuse. Ribs are still taped up. He says everyone gets lucky eventually, and says this isn't over, he's gonna get Rection some day, somehow. He calls for everyone to rise for the anthem, but he's attacked from behind by Yang who'd already made his entrance.
Yang sent off the ropes and delivers a tilt-a-whirl rollup for two. Yang sent off the ropes, through the legs, rapid rib shots, then off the ropes, avoids a hip toss and delivers a dropkick. Stepup dropkick, ducks a clothesline and eats a standing side kick from Storm. Backbreaker by Storm for two. Yang face first into the corner, then Yang sent off the ropes, gets Storm with a sunset flip for two. Yang with some rights, then some body shots into a spinebuster. Off the ropes with a chop to the throat for a near fall.
Jawbreaker by Storm, then Yang is up in an electric chair position, counters into a victory roll for two. Storm sent to the corner, floats over, eats a back elbow, caught with a moonsault from the top for a near fall. Yang sent off the ropes, caught with a cradle piledriver, while Guns and Leia go at it at ringside. I think Guns was supposed to trip up Yang but she missed her spot. Leia is whipping guns, then comes in Cat with a chair. Storm catches the chair and Cat hits it into him with the Feliner while the ref is dealing with the ladies. Yang covers for the win in 3:20.
Commercial
Storm is pissed at Duggan and Elix for not doing anything, but Duggan figured he had it on his own. Storm directs most of his anger at Duggan because he's the vet.
Stevie Ray is elsewhere on the phone with someone. They're trying to talk him out of the match tonight it sounds like, but he insists he knows what he's doing.
Boogie Knights are elsewhere and hire the Harris Brothers for two drinks and sandwiches.
Luger makes his way out. He says it's party time because tonight is the end of Goldberg's streak and career in WCW. He says this accomplishment is better than any title he's ever won and any furniture, homes and cars he owns, he did a huge favor for pro wrestling. Luger claims that because Goldberg viciously and maliciously speared the referee he committed the mortal sin and lost by DQ. He's appealed to Flair who vowed to restore law and order in WCW, and Goldberg should be out of there. Flair has promised to come to a decision tonight.
A limo arrives.
Commercial
Jimmy Hart has another paid announcement for his DJ challenge.
Okerlund is backstage with Jarrett, who is somehow not in prison for breaking into the White House. Okerlund wants his thoughts on Mayhem, and his match tonight with Mysterio. He says Bagwell found out the hard way that the Chosen One has all the stroke, and he's gonna keep the roll going tonight. He says he's gonna take that munchkin and beat his ass tonight, which prompts the Animals to throw eggs at Jarrett. For some reason the lights are flickering too.
Vito is making sure Maria has everything before heading into the arena. Reno comes up to her and they leave together.
Stills of Goldberg spearing the referee.
Evan and Knoble come out for a match, then the Boogie Knights come out with a mic and a brown bag. Disqo says the bag isn't a load of crap, it's payment for their replacements, which brings out the Harris Brothers.... or I guess one replacement.
Evan Karagias & Jamie Knoble vs Alex Wright & Ron Harris (w/ Disqo & Don Harris)
Ron and Evan start the match. Evan with some rights out the gate, then Ron sent off the ropes only to nail a clothesline, followed by a powerslam. Wright back in and covers but Noble saves it. Evan sent into the corner and Wright hits a belly to belly. Evan sent off the ropes, popped up and hits a dropkick. Ron back in, then Noble tags in. Noble easily shoved to the corner, sent across the ring, gets the boots up and goes up top with a clothesline for one. Big boot by Ron before Wright is back in, covers and Evan saves it.
Evan with a springboard dropkick, then Wright face first in the corner for boots. Evan is wasting time playing to the crowd, but they still avoid a double clothesline and hit a double dropkick, sending Wright to the corner. Double boots until Ron sends Noble to the corner, misses a shoulder, and Noble mounts with rights. Ron caught with a tilt-a-whirl headscissor. The ref is trying to send Evan to the apron, which allows Don to come in with the H Bomb on Noble. Wright covers for the win in 2:55.
Nash and Page are on their way to the ring.
Commercial
Hype package for Glacier and commentary completely bury him again.
Limo is still waiting outside.
Cut to Flair in his office. Flair points out that Luger pulled the ref into Goldberg's way, so really Luger should be DQ'd. However, since he knows Goldberg would hate a DQ win, and because WCW is about winning and losing, he makes Luger vs Goldberg for Starrcade.
Nash and Page make their way out, with stills of their title win. Nash gets a couple cheap pops, then DDP gives a shout out to Scott Hall, and the crowd really want Hall. Page reminds us that he used to manage Hall when he started out, and when he started tagging, he and Nash were the Vegas Connection, Nash having been Vinny Vegas at the time, admitting that... well, they sucked. They said the three of them would never make it, but Hall and Nash would go on to form the Outsiders, so he dubs him and Nash the Insiders. He says they're going to be around until WCW smartens up and brings Hall back. Nash says that that's just too sweet.
Nash's music hits again for some reason, but out come Jindrak, O'Haire and Sanders. Nash says that that's the only way they'll get a pop. Sanders says Page and Nash are just like the people of Rockford, a bunch of Cheese Whiz sucking, trailer trash individuals. He calls the Thrillers the absolute hottest thing going, and while Page was sitting at home watching Nash ride their coattails, he figured he'd get in on it. He says Flair knew when his time was up, had the respect for seasoned veterans like the Thrillers to step aside and get an office job. He tells them not to get too comfortable as champions, because they'll be defending against Jindrak and O'Haire at Starrcade, two of the most genetically jacked individuals in WCW. Page doesn't want to wait until Starrcade though and tells him to bring the genetically jacked monkeys to the ring.
WCW World Tag Team Championships(?): The Insiders (c) vs Mark Jindrak & Sean O'Haire (w/ Mike Sanders)
It's not entirely clear if this is a title match or not. But all four start fighting in the ring, with Page hitting a discus clothesline on Jindrak, then a Cactus clothesline to the floor. Sean sent to the corner, backflips over Nash and takes him to the corner with rights and boots. Nash fights out of the corner with rights before taking Sean to it for his trademark offense. Sean sent across the ring for a running clothesline, then more trademark offense. Sean sent across the ring but gets a boot up, allowing Page to tag in with a clothesline for two.
Low blow by Sean and Jindrak tags in, springboard clothesline to Page for two. Page choked over the middle rope, then a right by Sean from the floor, stomps by Jindrak. Sean back in. Page whiplashed into the corner three times followed by a double clothesline. Jindrak back in. Page sent off the ropes but gets Jindrak with a tilt-a-whirl headscissor, misses a clotheslines, connects on the second attempt, covers, but Sean breaks it up with a elbow to the back of the head.
Nash clotheslines him to the floor and Sean pulls him out. Page with the Diamond Cutter to Jindrak and a cover, but Sanders pulls out the ref and decks him. Nash goes for a jackknife on the floor but he's nailed in the back by a bat from Stasiak, and Palumbo's here too, then Reno joins in on a beat down. Page is pulled out to get beatdown as well. Match ends in a no contest as we go to commercial in 4:33, and Thrillers have seemingly stolen the titles. I mean it was an OK match until it became your typical mess.
Commercial
Okerlund is backstage with Stevie Ray. He says he'll do anything to get his hands on that sad sack crackerjack Steiner's neck. He says Steiner will pay for what he did to Booker, and come Starrcade he might not know who Flair has in store for him.
Career-Threatening Streak Match: Reno vs Goldberg (25-0)
Reno tries to get the jump but he's easily taken down with a pair of rights. Goldberg sent off the ropes and hits a forearm to the face. Reno sent off the ropes into a military press slam. Reno avoids a powerslam and nearly gets him with Roll of the Dice, but Goldberg counters and hits a shoulder breaker. Spear and jackhammer for the win in 1:39. My count is only at 22-0, but it was commentary who said he was at 25-0 during this match, so, I guess he's 26-9. Must be inflating the streak again, which... I mean makes sense to be honest.
Luger comes in from behind and hails Goldberg in the back with a chair, with the most delayed reaction ever. Chair to the gut, then the back again. Luger gets him in the Rack as referees rush out to try and break it up and he finally leaves.
Commercial
Okerlund is with the Filthy Animals. Rey says they mistook Jarrett for Gomer Pyle, but its the same crap either way. He's gonna take off his horns and shove them right up Jarrett's ass. Kidman gives a thumbs down to Jarrett's personality. Konnan calls Jarrett a country cranberry and says he might have personality if they put light on him and watered him now and then, and tonight it gets filthy.
WCW US Heavyweight Championship: Bam Bam Bigelow vs Gen. Rection (c)
Rection backed into the corner, then they exchange rights until Bigelow rakes the eyes. Rection sent across the ring and misses an elbow, following with a wristlock and a snapmare, then a leg drop to the arm. Another wristlock until Bigelow thumbs the eye, then Rection face first in the corner. Sent across the ring and Rection is choked, then clubs to the back. Snapmare and a rear chinlock by Bigelow. Rection fights out and comes off the ropes, but gets kneed in the gut. Rection sent off the ropes, and takes two clotheslines to get Bigelow off his feet. Rection barely gets Bigelow up with the Northern Lights suplex, then goes up top and misses an elbow drop. Powerbomb by Bigelow, then he goes under the ring and pulls out a table. AWOL comes out to take away the table and distracts Bigelow in the process. Knee to the back by Rection and a kick to the face, then the moonsault from the top to retain in 4:43. Yeah not a good match.
Commercial
Okerlund finds Steiner walking backstage with Midajah. Steiner says Booker lied because Steiner didn't kill him and managed to take the belt, and stupidity obviously runs in the family. He insists he ended Booker's career and will end Stevie's too. Steiner also doesn't care who Flair has gotten for Starrcade, which prompts Steiner to bring the camera out to the limo we saw earlier. Out steps a few ladies and MI Smooth, so Steiner attacks him.
Jeff Jarrett vs Rey Mysterio Jr. (w/ Filthy Animals)
Pre-Match: Jarrett gets a mic to rag on Konnan and the Animals for their egging earlier. He says after he beats Rey like a pinata, he's got a prank for Konnan, and warns Kidman as well.
Rey with rights immediately before Jarrett is sent off the ropes, tripped up by Tygress, a facejam and a leg drop by Rey for two. Jeff counters an Irish whip with a clothesline before sending Rey to the corner. Rey gets the boots up, to the middle rope and caught with a powerslam. Jeff covers but Konnan hops the apron to distract. Kidman trips up Jarrett through Konnan's legs and holds him down, so Rey can hit a springboard leg drop for two. Rey sent to the corner, tries to float over, avoids snake eyes and hits a spin kick, setting up for the Bronco Buster. But Jarrett gets a foot up to block it.
Rey sent off the ropes into a back elbow, followed by a leg across the back. Kidman holds up Jarrett, who ducks a right, but Kidman catches it. They go for a double clothesline, Jarrett ducks, but runs into one by Konnan. Split-legged moonsault gets blocked as Jarrett gets the knees up, before choking Rey over the middle rope. Jarrett tries to drop the leg again but Rey avoids it, then Rey with a springboard Thesz Press. Springboard moonsault gets a near fall.
Dropkick sets Jarrett down in the corner as Konnan distracts the ref again. Kidman with a baseball slide below the belt, then the Face Full of Stuff by Tygress, then the Bronco Buster by Rey. Rey sent off the ropes, ducks a clotheslines, back dropped to the apron, drilled with a powerbomb off a springboard senton. Jarrett his the Stroke and covers but he's pulled out of the ring. Jarrett sent into the guard rail, then back in the ring, as Tygress distracts the ref. Rey sent off the ropes and delivers a tilt-a-whirl headscissor. Jarrett nails Rey midair with a guitar, and somehow after all the bullshit, THAT is a DQ in 4:31. How are the Filthy Animals the babyfaces here? What the hell did this accomplish?
Kidman hits the Baldo Bomb, then a rolling thunder lariat by Konnan sends Jarrett running. Animals check on Rey.
Commercial
Pamela is backstage to follow up with Jarrett, who doesn't let her get a word in. Jarrett tells the Animals to show up to Thunder for a six-man tag. Pamela tries to ask him who his partners are but he tells her to shut up again, and he doesn't divulge the details.
A limo arrives.
Commercial
Hype video for Starrcade.
Title vs Career: Stevie Ray vs Scott Steiner (WCW World Heavyweight Champion) (w/ Midajah)
Pre-Match: Stevie attacks him in the aisle before the match can even start, then Scott sent into the guard rail. Midajah nails him in the back with a pipe allowing Steiner to take control. Stevie whipped into the guard rail, then again face first this time, then a third time. Knees to the gut against the guard rail before taking it to the ring.
Steiner with clubs to the back and some rights to the top of the head. Steiner sent off the ropes into a pump kick. Steiner with an inverted atomic drop and a clothesline, followed by an elbow and some pushups. Steiner with boots and rights in the corner, then one to the face. Chops now by Steiner before Srevie delivers some rights and chops until Steiner thumbs the eye.
Stevie tossed out to the floor. Stevie whipped into the guard rail, then Steiner with a chair jabbed into the neck and shoulder repeatedly before returning to the ring. More shots to the back of Steiner and back to the corner with more boots and chops. Stevie sent across the ring, Steiner misses a splash and gets slapped in the back of the head. Another shot to the back of the head, but Steiner fights out of a German suplex. Steiner with the spinning belly to belly out of the corner for a near fall.
Stevie sent to the corner, catches Steiner with an elbow and hits a standing side kick. Steiner caught with a knee to the gut and a DDT. Midajah provides a distraction allowing Steiner to nearly drop Stevie on his head with a suplex. Backbreaker by Steiner, then to the middle rope, but he's caught with the Book End. Stevie can't capitalize immediately, so Steiner gets the shoulder up at two.
Steiner sent off the ropes, catches a boot and hits a clothesline. Stevie rolls out to the floor, then sends Steiner into the guard rail. Chair to the head of Steiner before taking it back to the ring. Steiner sent to the corner, gets a boot up and hits a T-bone suplex for two. Stevie sent off the ropes, but gets Steiner with the Slapjack. Stevie goes to the middle rope but Midajah distracts again. Stevie is nearly dropped on his head again with the electric chair drop. Steiner puts on the Recliner to retain in 6:57. This wasn't bad for the first half, but Stevie was clearly blown up in the last 3 minutes or so, it fell apart.
And out comes Sid Vicious to end the show, so I guess he's Steiner's challenger for Starrcade to an admittedly good pop. There's like 10 seconds left in the show when Sid comes out. Man it's been months since we've seen him, back when he showed up to turn on DDP and join Bischoff, and then just completely disappeared.
Thunder
Still in Illinois for this edition of Thunder, with Schiavone, Tenay and Madden on commentary.
Starting the show with Ric Flair. He says WCW is going to the top as promised and it's looking good. He reminds us that Steiner is the flagship of the company, and as champion he's the man in the sport. He also told Steiner that he had to be the man every week, so he announces Buff is challenging for the World Title tonight. He says Buff is a big star and has been this far from being champion, they used to be friends, but there is no friends when it comes to the title.
Then he introduces Sid, confirming that he'll challenge for the title at Starrcade, with a slightly new theme. He says people have been asking him where he's been and driving him crazy, asking what he's been doing and why he hasn't been on TV. So to answer that, he has footage played from April 10th, the reboot episode, specifically when Bischoff took the World Title from him. He says he defended that title night in and night out, until he was stripped for "ratings". He had to either kiss ass and suck it up, or stick it in. He couldn't do that because of pride, so Bischoff sent him home. Except Sid came back and aligned with Bischoff for like one night and disappeared again.
As he sat in his own pity, guys like Booker T had to step up and take charge, guys like Gen. Rection had to stand up for WCW. But then he sees guys like Steiner, calling himself Big Poppa Pump, with his fancy headgear and bad attitude and language, mouthing on about how he's the greatest and everyone's scared of him. Steiner's destroyed Sting, Booker, and now Stevie Ray's career. Now he's giving us a history lesson: The Wright Brothers made history in aviation in 1903, and as 2000 closes, he will rewrite history and take back what's his, and Steiner is in the wrong place, at the wrong time at Starrcade. That was... an odd promo.
Commercial
Lance Storm & Elix Skipper (w/ Team Canada) vs Jung Dragons (w/ Leia Meow)
Pre-Match: Storm is here to be serious for a minute. He says there was a lapse in teamwork Monday, resulting in an embarrassing loss. He's been assured it won't happen again, and tonight they function as a unit, to dominate the American wrestling scene again. Storm calls for everyone to stand for a superior nation and them anthem, and for some reason Duggan is just wandering aimlessly around the ring instead of standing for it, before it's interrupted.
Yang and Elix start the match. Elix caught with a powerbomb into a jackknife or two. A quick exchange of holds and roll ups now, then a springboard armdrag by Yang. Step up dropkick in the corner, then an enziguri by Kaz, who missed a clothesline by Storm and hits a spinkick, sending Storm to the floor. Kaz mocks Storm's seriousness. Elix takes Kaz to the corner with rights before he's sent across the ring, sends Kaz to the apron, ducks a clothesline from Elix, but gets enziguried from the apron into the ring by Lance. Leg drop by Elix for two. Clubbing blows by Elix before he's sent off the ropes, back drops Kaz crotch first on the top rope, Elix tightrope walks into a hurricanrana for a near fall. Elix goes for a sitout powerbomb but Kaz lands on his feet and kicks Elix in the side of the head.
Yang gets the hot tag, up top with a crossbody, then some body blows. Yang sent off the ropes, misses a clothesline but dropkicks Elix in the back of the head. Mule kick and a roll up by Elix and Kaz saves it. Storm and Elix are sent into each other. Yang gets Elix in a double underhook as Kaz goes up top, but he's crotched by Storm, then Yang gets backdropped by Elix. Elix with a butterfly superplex from the top rope on Kaz and a cover but Yang saves it.
Yang is tossed out by Storm, and Guns gets in a cheap shot. Leia jumps on her back and Storm tries to pull them apart to no succes. Elix back in the ring avoids a clothesline only to eat a roundhouse. Kaz with the brainbuster before Yang goes up top. Duggan is about to interfere but he's intercepted by Cat who runs out. Dragons with a leg drop/splash combo from the top on Elix gets the win in 5:44.Too much nonsense at the end. Still fun for the most part.
Duggan ca't believe it and Storm is pissed.
Commercial
Duggan is backstage blaming Cat as Team Canada regroups. Storm says he'll take care of Cat.
Lex Luger vs Screamin' Norman Smiley
Norman takes control for a moment with a wristlock, but Luger knees him in the gut, then sent off the ropes, ducks a back elbow into a drop toe hold, then a dropkick by Norman, sending Luger scurrying to the corner. Luger with a cheap shot before being sent off the ropes into a back elbow, then a crossbody for not even a one count. Luger escapes to the floor.
Norman is tripped and pulled out to the floor, then sent into the guard rail, then a second time. Back in the ring, Luger sends Norman into the ropes to forearm his back, following with a back suplex for two. Norman shoved into the corner for a few boots. Norman sent across the ring, then back across again, floats over, rolls up Luger for two. Norman sent off the ropes, floats over into an armdrag, then another arm drag and a series of clotheslines, followed by a wind-up scoop slam. Big Wiggle by Norman until Luger delivers a low blow, then a forearm to the head. Rack gets the win in 4:53. Yeah not very good.
Luger refuses to break the hold until Goldberg runs down and sends Luger running, escaping through the crowd.
Commercial
WCW Hardcore Championship: Crowbar (c) vs David Flair
Pre-Match: OK, the fact there's so much cut out of these Thunder shows is kinda pissing me off. We come back to break to Crowbar's entrance, and commentary are talking about a big revelation we just heard, that Vito and Reno are actually brothers, and that Maria is both their sister. So this isn't a romance angle then? What's the actual issue here then? And why was this cut out? We're actually reminded of David and Crowbar's history together, winning the tag titles back in January thanks to Arn, then David smashing a Statue of Liberty over his head back to beat him in June,
David and Crowbar fight to get to the weapons until they trade shots. David nails him in the head with a trash lid, then a mop across the back. Also Crowbar has a gold monkey wrench in his belt for some reason. David sent into a trash can off a headlock attempt. Crowbar gets the wrench but David attacks him with a kendo stick to avoid it. Crowbar sent to the corner, gets boots up, then throws a trash can at David's head. Trash can to the back, then some rights drop David in the corner. Paint tray to the head of David before he's clotheslined to the floor.
Lid to the back of the head of David, then he's sent into the guard rail. Kendo stick to the back of David, then a headbutt. David face first off a chair, laying it on David's chest. Crowbar with a Vader Bomb off the guard rail onto the chair and David. Crowbar sets up the chair in the aisle before grabbing another, using it to choke David, then setting it up next to the other chair and setting the can on top of it. Crowbar into the guard rail, then scoop slammed onto the trash can and chairs. Back in the ring, David takes a chair and goes to the middle rope and drives it into the ribs of Crowbar for two.
David with a figure 4, Crowbar's shoulders go down for two a few times. Then he grabs a paint tray to break out with shots to the head. Chops by Crowbar, then misses a clothesline to get crotched on the top rope. David tries to suplex him on the trash can, then Crowbar tries a front suplex but they botch it. Front suplex on the trash can c connects on the second try. Crowbar gets the wrench and nails David in the back of the head for the win in 6:21. I didn't hate this. It wasn't nearly as weapon heavy as these matches tend to be, but it's also about as good as any David Flair match.
Out comes Stacy now because this storyline must continue. She's here to check on David surprisingly, but he has no idea what's going on.
Commercial
David is getting checked by a doctor.
WCW US Heavyweight Championship: The Franchise (w/ Torrie Wilson) vs Gen. Rection (c) (w/ Misfits in Action)
Pre-Match: Franchise gets a mic and tells the Rockford morons to sit and pay attention while a real woman talks. Torrie says it's their big night, their chance to make it to the top, and there's nothing the morons of Rockford can do. Once he beats Rection for the US Title, he'll be a little step closer from the WCW Title. She says the fans are jealous, but tells them not to hate her because she's beautiful. Douglas is ticked off and says a man's destiny has to wash over a man's dreams sometimes, and has something he wants. He says his waist was born and bred to carry gold and Torrie loves it all night long. He says there are guys in the front row that are more man than the Misfits, then suggest Rection bring them out with him, because it's time his ass gets franchised.
Torrie provides a distraction right away, allowing Douglas to deliver a chop block, then stomping away at the knee, kicking it out from under him. Rection's knee is driven into the mat. Rection fights back only to be sent off the ropes, then dropkicked in the knee, then a figure 4. Rection eventually gets to the ropes. Rection fights back again, then Franchise sent off the ropes into an atomic drop and a clothesline. Torrie jumps on his back from the top rope until she's sandwiched in the corner. Rection feels awful as the ref checks on her. Loco is trying to just push her out of the ring, and now MIA are arguing with each other a bit. Douglas gets a chain around his fist as he checks on Torrie and a doctor is called out.
Loco heads to the back pissed off for some reason. There's EMTs and a stretcher, and this goes on for a while. I was convinced this was gonna be a swerve here, especially when Douglas took out the chain, but no, they actually go to commercial. So I guess this is a no contest in 4:33.
Commercial
Replay of what happened.

Tables Match: Bam Bam Bigelow vs Sgt. AWOL
AWOL brings out his own table into the ring, and Bigelow gets the jump with stomps and boots. Bigelow sent off the ropes and hits AWOL with a clothesline. Bigelow sets up the table near the corner, tries a powerbomb but gets back dropped. Bigelow clotheslined out to the floor. AWOL sets up a table between the guard rail and apron, before he's sent into the guard rail himself. AWOL sent face first off the stairs. Back to the ring, kick to the ribs of Bigelow as he slides back in, followed by a scoop slam. AWOL repositions the table next to the ropes, then tries a chokeslam, but Bigelow ducks and hits a back suplex through the table, but there's questioning of who went through first because how it happened. The ref rules that the match will continue.
Clothesline by AWOL, then Bigelow drops the top rope down sending AWOL to the floor. AWOL tries a suplex through a table at ringside but Bigelow blocks, then gets a right. Boot tot he face of Bigelow, then AWOL off the steps face first. Bigelow tries a powerbomb but Awesome hops the guard rail with a chair to the back. AWOL with a chokeslam through the table for the win in 4:37. Why they needed to do the continue the match spot, I have no idea, it was pointless. And this match wasn't good.
Awesome talks some trash.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Buff Bagwell vs Scott Steiner (c) (w/ Midajah)
Pre-Match: Another cut segment, Awesome challenged Bigelow for Starrcade. Steiner gets a mic. He reminds Buff that he put Booker in the hospital, with Sting right next to him, and he ended Stevie's career. He's in a good mood tonight though, so he gives Buff the chance to just walk away and promises he won't hurt Buff if he does, won't put him in the hospital. Buff appreciates it, but he declines, instead delivering a cheap shot to start the match.
Steiner sent off the ropes into a clothesline, then a dropkick sends him out to the floor. Steiner into the guard rail, then Buff chokes him before they return to the ring. Steiner face first in the corner before Buff is sent across the ring, tries to float over, but he's caught and slammed into the corner into a tree of woe. Buff's neck cranked back from ringside. Buff sent off the ropes into a clothesline and an elbow, then some push-ups from Steiner. Backbreaker by Steiner, then some boots, rights and chops in the corner. Buff choked over the middle rope, then a spinning belly to belly for two.
Steiner with a surfboard, Buff fights out and sends Steiner face first in the corner. Steiner sent off the ropes but avoids a dropkick, then covers for two. Buff avoids a slam and hits a DDT. Buff fights back, inverted atomic drop, misses a clothesline but hits the double-arm DDT, before doing his strut. Swinging neckbreaker, then Steiner sent off the ropes, but he clubs the back and hits an exploder suplex. Steiner is about to put on the Recliner but gets distracted by the fans.
Bagwell rakes the eyes, Streiner sent off the ropes but gets Bagwell with a kick. Bagwell botches getting put on the top rope, so Steiner and Midajah have to save the spot as he hangs over the ropes by the legs. Then Steiner sets him on the rope just as Sid's voice is heard, just to call Steiner a dumbass and to remember Starrcade. Steiner is knocked off the middle rope and Buff hits the Blockbuster, but it's only two. Midajah up top caught with the crossbody, then slammed down. Buff poses allowing Steiner to hit a clothesline and put on the Recliner to retain in 12:29. This was a decent enough match, but that ending sequence made little sense.
Steiner celebrates with the title just to put the Recliner back on Buff. Sid makes his way out and Steiner releases the hold. They trade words to end the show.
