Week of December 4, 2000
Nitro
We're in Nebraska this week, so we start by going to a Cornhuskers fan in an empty stadium. I guess this is going to be a regular thing, because Jarrett comes up to hit him with a guitar, calls him a corn husking slap nut and tells him to choke on it.
Recap of Mayhem, and the fallout last week.
Thrillers are walking backstage and...Jesus Christ, we're not two minutes into this show, and there's an OKLAHOMA sighting. I hate this company. Sanders has apparently given him some kind of script and promised him security, says he's going to get serious heat if he says this. Sigh.
Live from the Pershing Auditorium in Lincoln, Nebraska for this episode of Nitro. Tonight, Jarrett vs Konnan, plus Gen. Rection gets a shot at the World Title.
And of course we're going to start with Oklahoma. He has a bowl for some reason. There's a "go Big Red" chant. He gives a big greeting from the #1 team in the NCAA, then holds up his bowl for everyone to look at. It's the closest anyone in Nebraska will get to seeing a bowl. He's here on official business, because Sanders gave him the authority to make a statement on Sid Vicious. He says there's security all over the building ready to pounce, so he has every ounce of confidence to make this statement. "Asshole" chant. He says if Sid steps one inch out of line, security, the police, the National Guard will be all over him like white on rice.
Finally Sid comes out to put us out of our misery, taking his sweet time despite Oklahoma threatening him with security and commanding he stop. He tries to fake out Sid by telling him Steiner's behind him, but Sid catches him before he can run off. Hell of a chokeslam by Sid, and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Sid calls for another but out comes Sanders to send the police after him. Sid hands himself over and he's escorted out. That was painful to sit through.
Commercial
Steiner and Midajah arrive, they bump into Sanders. Steiner wants Sid, and Sanders tells him Flair got him arrested. Steiner says no one's safe, especially Flair.
Pamela's with Konnan and the Filthy Animals. Kidman gives a thumbs down for the technically deficient Harrises. Konnan challenges them and Jarrett to a Street Fight for Starrcade.
Replay of what happened to Torrie last week, and Loco and Rection's issues from last week.
Chavo Guerrero, Jr. vs Kwee-Wee (w/ Paisley)
Pre-Match: Holy shit that actually went somewhere. They took Chavo out of MIA. This show is already improving.
Chavo attacks mid entrance and takes Kwee-Wee to the corner for rights and chops. Kwee-Wee gets some in herself, then Chavo with a snapmare and a kick to the back. Chavo cranks his neck around the top rope, then hangs him over the top rope throat first. Kwee-Wee sent to the corner, hits a back elbow, then a Thesz Press. Kwee-Wee sent off the ropes into a lariat, then taken to the corner and choked with Chavo's boot. Kwee-Wee sent off the ropes and hits a back elbow, then a dropkick. Chavo sent to the corner into a tilt-a-whirl slam for two.
Chavo sent off the ropes and hits a floatover DDT. Chavo gets a chair but Paisley takes it away. Springboard sunset flip by Kwee-Wee for two. Dropkick by Chavo, then sends Kwee-Wee out to the floor. Kwee-Wee sent to the guard rail then a vicious chop before returning to the ring. Kwee-Wee with a scoop throw across the ring, then gets popped up and goes face first into the corner. Chavo wins with the brainbuster in 3:57. Solid match here.
Commercial
Sanders is seen repeating what Steiner said to Flair. He tells Sanders to beef up on security while h works on getting Sid out of jail.
Bryan Clark gets a job over the phone for Kronik. No idea who hired them.
Okerlumd is with Rection and MIA. Rection says that what happened to Torrie was an accident, and it would have never happened if he'd known she was on his back, it's not what MIA is about. He says Chavo's taking their new attitude into a different direction and it's his problem, but he's got the shot of a lifetime tonight. He says it may be his only shot, with all the other problems MIA has, and warns Steiner not to focus on Starrcade or he might upset him.
WCW Hardcore Championship: Elix Skipper (w/ Team Canada) vs Crowbar (c) (w/ Daffney)
Pre-Match: Lance wants to be serious for a minute. He says Elix does them proud tonight by capturing the Hardcore Title, and once again renames it the SHIT. In honor of great Canadian athletes like themselves, he wants the weapons removed from ringside, while everyone rises for the anthem. Cat comes out instead for some reason with Ms. Jones while the weapons are actually removed. He gets a mic and wants to kick Lance's ass all over, but he came out to enjoy the match tonight. Madden hands him his headset. And its damn good to see Daffney again. Crowbar proceeds to pull out several car parts from under the ring and he has his gold wrench again.
Crowbar gets dropkicked off the apron and Elix goes after him with rights before taking it to the ring. Elix nailed in the back with a bumper, then Crowbar sent to the corner, sends Elix to the corner who does a backflip over. Bumper to the ribs and back of Crowbar, then a leg drop gets a two for Elix. Duggan nails Crowbar repeatedly in the ribs with his 2x4, then Guns slaps him. Daffney tackles Guns for a catfight spot. Elix and Crowbar return to the ring. Cat attacks Madden. Lance attacks Cat. Duggan tries to hit Cat with the 2x4 but nails Lance instead. Crowbar hits his front suplex onto the bumper for the win in 2:19.
Commercial
Jimmy Hart is still doing his DJ challenge for some ungodly reason.
David is with Stacy backstage. He asks why she came back. She says she was worried about him, she didn't want to lose him completely, she just wasn't ready to get married yet. She asks him not to ask who the father is as a favor, she'll tell him eventually. Ric walks up to see what they're talking about but David won't say yet. Ric warns them about Steiner and has security escort them out.
Reno is talking to Maria elsewhere. I guess he was in jail and the family's turned on him for it. She wants to put the past behind them and get her family back. He leaves for a match.
Replay of Luger attacking Goldberg last week.
Luger comes out with Goldberg's book. Apparently their match is now a No Holds Barred No DQ Match, according to the graphic that comes on screen. With 13 days left in Goldberg's career, he the sands of time are ticking away, unless he can win 150 matches between now and then, and not even he can do that. He likes to look Goldberg in the face, but he's late to the building, but he will be there tonight rest assured.
He wants to talk about the man responsible for Goldberg's rise, a behind-the-scenes guy who helped make Goldberg a superstar, DeWayne Bruce aka Sarge, from the Power Plant. He happens to be sitting front row and Luger calls him a credit to the industry. Luger reads some passages from Goldberg's book about Sarge, who puts Sarge over for helping him become the star he is. Luger is clearly unimpressed, and is ready to leave.
First though, he says Sarge works in a smelly, rancid, putrid Power Plant with big sweaty guys learning to wrestle, making minimum wage, living in a trailer park while Goldberg drives a Mercedes and has big houses, painting Goldberg as ungrateful. Luger claims he'd be treating Sarge better if he'd helped him. Sarge is ready to hop the rail but security are there to intervene. Luger finally leaves after rambling for way too long.
Goldberg arrives.
Commercial
Norman is with some woman backstage, he's scheduled to face Goldberg later. Steiner comes by, the woman runs off, he tells Steiner he has Goldberg and Steiner attacks.
Pamela is with Franchise. He's not buying that it what happened to Torrie was an accident and will make Rection suffer, lay his ass up in a hospital bed next to her. He's gonna show Rection what it's like to fight for his life, he will make him suffer every night until Starrcade, make him fight for his life, look over his shoulder. Rection took something dear to his heart and he'll do the same to Rection, telling him to kiss the US Title goodbye.
Rection and AWOL are talking in the foreground to try and focus, but Chavo and Cajun are seen talking in the background. AWOL points it out and Rection calls over to him. Cajun eventually follows despite Chavo pulling him away.
Comemrcial
Flair talks to Finlay and Arn in go position about Steiner. He wants wrestlers out of the building as soon as their matches are over.
WCW World Tag Team Championships: The Insiders (c) vs 3 Count
Pre-Match: Another graphic for the PPV. 3 Count, Jung Dragons and Evan & Noble are set for a Ladder Match, which for some reason isn't for a tag title shot, but a Cruiserweight Title shot. Also Insiders just have the titles again with no explanation, after the Thrillers stole them last week. Alright.
Nash and Shannon start the match, and it starts like every Nash match ever in the corner. There's a very loud "We want Hall" chant. Shannon is thrown from one corner of the other nearly landing on his head, then Page tags in. Sanders, Palumbo and Stasiak are watching on a monitor backstage. Shane tags in to and gets taken to the corner for chops and rights. Shane sent across the ring, gets a boot up but caught with a clothesline. Shane sent off the ropes, blocks a bip toss, tries an arm drag but caught with a gutwrench, into a face plant and a cover, Shannon breaks it up with a leg drop.
Shannon in just to tag Shane right back in to lay in some boots, then Shannon in again. Double suplex on Page, then a hip toss on Shannon onto Page for two. Page counters an Irish whip with a back elbow. Nash gets the hot tag with rights, big boots, snake eyes for Shane. Nash goes for the jackknife on Shannon but Shane goes up top, only to be crotched by Page. Jackknife connect, then Page with the top rope Diamond Cutter to Shannon. Double pin by Nash to retain in 4:35. Decent match, but this was kinda lose lose you have champions on one side and two guys competing for another title shot on the other, and it was basically a squash match.
Sanders, Palumbo and Stasiak come out. Sanders is here to break their hearts but he wants Flair out here too. Out he comes. Sanders plays footage from Mayhem, the gist of it is Palumbo was the legal man but Stasiak was the one who was pinned. So Flair reverses the decision and makes a rematch for Starrcade. Sanders is hesitant to enter the ring to get the belts. Eventually Insiders hands them over. Page says they'll be SOL and will feel the bang.
Commercial
Awesome arrives and walks by an ambulance, Bigelow emerges from the back. Bigelow throws him into a car and says he'll see Awesome at Starrcade.
Reno vs KroniK
Reno sent off the ropes into a pair of rights. Full nelson slam by Adams. And the ref calls for the bell? The fuck is going on?
High Time on Reno. Marie sees this backstage and runs off. KroniK hit High Time a second time. Vito runs out to make the save and out comes Maria to check on Reno. Vito leaves. What did any of that accomplish?
Commercial
More hype and... no burial for Glacier this week. Hudson actually tries to put him over a bit.
Crowbar finds Daffney backstage. He's glad she was in his corner tonight like old times. She offers him a ride, but he's got one and a couple of ladies, says he'll see her next week. She's sitting on an equipment case and a crew member tries to get into, but she hisses at him and he leaves.
Flair has a meeting with security. He says Sid won't be getting out of jail before the end of the show and everyone is in danger, tells them to spread out and cover the building.
Career-Threatening Streak Match: M.I. Smooth vs Goldberg (26-0)
Smooth with some shots, then Goldberg sends him to the corner, but caught with an elbow. Big boot and a hell of a spear from Goldberg. Jackhammer gets the win in 53 seconds.
Goldberg and Sarge embrace.
Commercial
Steiner working out and warns Flair backstage.
Filthy Animals vs Jarrett and the Harrises in a Street Fight is official for Starrcade.
Jeff Jarrett vs Konnan
Pre-Match: Jarrett gets a mic calls Rey and Kidman jacked up termites, and reminds Konnan he's the Chosen One with all the stroke. Jarrett accepts Konnan's challenge but says it's a long before Starrcade and he has a ton of guitars waiting for each of the Animals. He says they'll beat the Animals like a bunch of pinatas. Jarrett also convinces the ref to eject the Animals from ringside.
Jarrett attacks from behind, then sent off the ropes, tripped by Rey before the Animals finally leave, then Konnan sent off the ropes, counters with some chops and sends Jarrett off the ropes. Mule kick and a facebuster sends Jarrett rolling to the floor. Konnan gets tripped and pulled out of the ring, sent into the guard rail twice, then gets a chair across the back. Back in the ring, stomps by Jarrett and a boot to the ribs. Konnan sent to the corner, floats over and hits a DDT, then a basement dropkick. Double clothesline takes them both down, and Jarrett rolls out clutching his knee. Out come the Harrises to hit the H Bomb on Konnan while the ref checks on Jarrett. Animals come out to attack the Twins while Jarrett hits the Stroke for the win in 2:45.
Commercial
WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Scott Steiner (c) vs Gen. Rection (WCW US Heavyweight Champion)
Pre-Match: Steiner points out that Flair's running out of wrestlers, with no sign of Booker and Sting because of him. Then Ric hired Sid and Steiner's turning the tables. He tells Ric has til the end of this match to produce Sid, or he's coming after him.
Steiner attacks immediately taking Rection to the corner with rights and a chop. Rection sent off the ropes, collides with Steiner and barely budges. Series of shoulder blocks and a clothesline take down Steiner multiple times before Rection is sent to the corner, floats to the apron, up top with a flying clothesline, sending Steiner to the floor. Steiner regroups and takes control briefly, then caught with a side slam. Midajah goes up top and jumps on Rection's back, allowing Steiner to hit a low off the distraction. Clothesline by Steiner and an elbow drop, followed by some pushups. Boots to the head by Steiner before taking Rection to the corner again for rights, boots and chops. Spinning belly to belly out of the corner gets Steiner a near fall.
Rection choked over the bottom rope, then a backbreaker from Steiner. Lots of posing by Steiner. Powerslam in the corner into a tree of woe by Steiner, cranking back on the neck from ringside. More choking by Steiner. More boots and rights in the corner from Steiner. Butterfly suplex countered by Rection as he fights back and knocks Steiner down. Crossbody to the outside takes out Steiner. Midajah tries a low blow but Rection blocks, only to be knocked from behind by Steiner. Steiner sent off the ropes into a powerslam gets a near fall.
German suplex by Rection before he goes up top, but Midajah distracts as the moonsault connects, and it only gets two. Rection goes back up top for a Vader Bomb but Steiner gets the knees up. Rection misses an elbow in the corner and caught with an exploder suplex. Recliner gets the win in 8:44. Too much of a lot of nothing in the middle. Not to mention having your US Champion lose clean is a terrible idea, why would you not have Douglas come out and interfere?
Steiner gets the mic and says Ric's time is up and his ass is his. So he leaves and heads to the back, and now Douglas is here to attack Rection with a chain. Steiner attacks Arn in go and takes him out to the ring. Arn sent into the guard rail on the way. Steiner nails Arn with a clothesline with the pipe, then applies the Recliner. Ric is trying to go to the ring but Finlay is holing him back.
Goldberg rushes out to make the save only to be blindsided by Luger. Luger gets him over the back with a chair as Ric comes out with security. Luger nails Sarge in the head with a chair, as security try to pull Luger off Goldberg. Sid is here now too as we get a big pull apart while Arn is helped to the back. Steiner leaves as security are just barely holding Sid back.
Thunder
Flair is on his way to the ring for a big announcement. Later we'll hear from Arn Anderson and get an update.
Now out comes Stevie Ray to the confusion of commentary.
Still in Lincoln for this edition of Thunder, with Schiavone, Tenay, and Stevie Ray back on commentary as he takes over Madden, despite being forced to retire.
Out comes Ric. He's a troubled man after what happened to Arn on Monday, blaming himself for it and says it's eaten away at him, so he's here to make some decision that will stand. First being, Sid and Steiner are not allowed on the show or in the building. Second being, since Steiner is making his own rules, beating a man half to death, and overstepping bounds as World Champion, he's suspended indefinitely and being stripped of the title.
Out comes Sanders. He calls that speech very touching, but suggests the decision is hasty, considering they have a major PPV coming up and Steiner just won the thing, accusing Ric of making personal decisions rather than business ones, of being jealous and scared. He says there's nothing wrong with that, and offers to let him cry on his shoulder, says Ric is scared because Steiner has a better body than Ric ever had, he had more freaks nationwide than Ric, and he's a true athlete. He says Ric's pride is getting the best of him and thought he was above that, and to leave the disciplinary action to Sanders.
Ric says he's wrong and that Sanders can't see the top or around his career. Ric mocks Sanders some and stands by his decision. Now Arn is not at home, but backstage and on the big screen. He threatens to kick Sanders' ass if he pipes up. He says he never saw the Animal lurking in Scott when he looked in his eyes, but no one's scared of him. He tells Ric not to suspend or strip him, because despite everything, he will go down eventually, he's made too many enemies. So Ric rescinds his decision and the match with Sid is still on. So we basically wasted 12 minutes of TV time to do a lot of nothing.
Jamie Noble & Evan Karagias vs Mark Jindrak & Sean O'Haire
Noble and Evan are tossed over the ropes, then try a pair of springboard dropkicks. Noble gets Sean in the back, but Evan botches his and hits a standing dropkick to Jindrak instead. Neckbreaker by Evan to Jindrak who then wastes time posing to the annoyance of his partner. Evan with a front suplex to Noble onto Jindrak for two. Noble sent off the ropes, through the legs, they botch a back drop to the apron. Noble up top with a flying clothesline for a count of one.
Noble back up top just for Evan to tag himself in, springboard crossbody almost botched for two. Noble back in. Jindrak sent to the corner, floats to the apron, springboard clothesline. Sean tags in. Noble sent off the ropes into a sitout gorilla press slam. Noble sent to the corner, Jindrak tags in. Noble whiplashed into the corner twice before being dropped to his back, Snapmare from the middle rope by Sean. Evan pissed off and wastes too much time with the ref as Noble gets double teamed. Noble fights back and gets Jindrak with a headscissor, then caught with a tilt-a-whirl slam.
Noble with an enziguri and finally makes the hot tag to Evan. Dropkick to Sean and Jindrak, then sent off the ropes, wheelbarrow facebuster to Jindrak. Noble and Evan pull out a ladder and use it on Sean, then double dropkick it into Jindrak. Then they fight over the ladder and get killed with a double clothesline from Sean. Double biel into the ring from the floor to Evan, then one for Noble who splashes onto Evan in the process. Press slam out to the floor to Evan from Sean. Jindrak with a Frankensteiner and the Seanton Bomb to Noble gets the win in 6:50. A fine match, though Evan looked sloppy for 90% of this match. And the inconsistent DQ rules continue to drive me nuts.
Out come Crowbar and Daffney. She's been decked out in some 70s clothes, based on a segment that, once again, got cut for whatever reason. They're here for commentary for the next match.
Hardcore Match: Sgt. A-Wall vs Bam Bam Bigelow
Pre-Match: Winner gets a shot at the Hardcore Title.
Wall gets a broom and Bigelow gets a trash can. Can to the head of Wall as Bigelow sends him to the corner for a splash. Cookie sheet to the head of Wall Low blow by Wall, then a stick across the back. Trash can put over the head of Bigelow and a leg drop by Wall. Out to the floor, trash lid to the head of Bigelow, then again. Wall sets up a table next to the ring, then sent into the guard rail, then over the announce table. Wall uses Crowbar's wrench to attack Bigelow, then tries to pull him up on the table only to get a low blow and sent face first into the table.
Chair to the head of Wall, then into the guard rail. They try suplexing each other through Wall's table but Bigelow is sent into the guard rail, then face first off the apron. Wall goes to the apron where the table, blocks a clothesline from Bigelow before pulling him to the apron. Both go for a chokeslam until Awesome comes out with a chair, sending them both through the table though he was aiming for Bigelow. For some reason the referee calls for the bell in 5:33, so I guess this ends in a no contest. The only good part of this was Crowbar's hammy commentary, I'm pretty sure he was doing some kind of impression but it went over my head.
Commercial
Team Canada (w/ Major Guns) vs The Cat & Jung Dragons (w/ Leia Meow & Ms. Jones)
Pre-Match: Lance wants to be serious for a minute. He says there's some communation problems within Team Canada, but unlike the US election, the problems will be dealt with in a quick, timely manner. But tonight, they take out Cat, and defeat Jung Dragons once and for all. Cat comes out with a mic and is tired of Team Canada's bitching, and he knows the people feel the same. He's going to kick everyone's ass and leave some leftover before throwing them into the crowd to let the fans pick the bones.
Elix and Kaz start the match with a quick exchange, Elix caught with a spin kick. Yang with a tilt-a-whirl headscissor as he tags in before taking Elix to the corner for mounted rights, then lands on his feet from a back flip. Elix sent to the corner, floats over, Yang avoids a clothesline from Lance, spiked on a DDT by Elix. Duggan tags in. Yang face first in the corner, then sent off the ropes, slammed back and forth across corners, then planted with a scoop slam. Lance tags in with a jawbreaker, then Yang face first in the corner, off the ropes, ducks some clotheslines, hits a crossbody for two. Yang sent to the corner, gets the boots up but he's caught with the Maple Leaf. Kaz breaks it up with an enziguri.
Cat gets the hot tag as Elix comes in, gets a back drop, then Lance with a throat shot. Duggan tossed out to the floor. Elix tries a sunset flip but Cat counters with a right and an elbow, covers but Lance saves it. Cat sent off the ropes, avoids a double back drop. Someone screwed up here because Duggan hits Elix with his 2x4, then acts like it was a mistake even though it looked absolutely intentional. Roundhouse by Cat gets the win in 3:33.
Commercial
WCW Cruiserweight Championship: "Above Average" Mike Sanders (c) vs Chavo Guerrero Jr.
Natural Born Thrillers banned from ringside.
Chavo takes control right away with a snapmare and a kick to the back, then takes Sanders to the corner for chops, an uppercut and boots. Sanders sent chest first into the corner and Chavo follows with a back suplex. Sanders sent to the corner, then sends Chavo face first into the corner. Chavo avoids a slam, then Chavo pulls him face first into the corner. Sanders counters an Irish whip into a pumphandle suplex. Snapmare and a kick to the face by Sanders, followed by a fist drop, then some vicious boots before a choke.
Chavo fights back until his eyes are raked, then choked over the middle rope. Cobra clutch by Sanders, Chav fights out, off the ropes into a rolling clothesline. Chops by Chavo before he sends Sanders to the floor, then followed by a crossbody. Sanders sent to the guard rail, then gets a boot up and sends Chavo into it, following with a clothesline. Back in the ring, Sanders takes his belt with him and it allows Chavo to hit a dropkick, only to be dropped face first on the top turnbuckle. Sanders to the middle rope, tries a tornado DDT but Chavo counters with a Northern Lights for two,
Chavo takes the belt now as Sanders shoves the referee out of sight and Sanders gets nailed with it. Chavo plays possum as the referee comes back around, then hits the brainbuster to win the title in 5:29. A decent enough match, and getting the title off Sanders is the smart move. The heel/heel dynamic oddly worked here too.
Commercial
Okerlund is with Chavo backstage. Chavo doesn't let him get a question in and speaks out to Rection, says he managed this in a week with his new attitude, but it took Rection 3 months to get the US Title with his attitude, insisting he's right. He doesn't care about Rection's respect and philosophy, and his attitude will get him in the hospital.
Sanders is pissed off.
Alex Wright (w/ Disqo) vs Buff Bagwell
Pre-Match: Another cut segment where I guess Storm challenged Cat to a match, so that's official for Starrcade now.
Wright with a cheap shot as he's backed into the corner, then an uppercut and some chops. Buff caught with a high knee as he's sent off the ropes for two. Buff sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline, kicks to set up a swinging neckbreaker. Dropkick and a clothesline by Buff, then some mounted rights in the corner, only to be dropped throat first on the top rope. Leg lariat by Wright, then sent to the corner, floats over, sends Buff to the corner into a backbreaker. Wright tries a rear chinlock but Buff screws up the positioning. Wright with some elbows and a back suplex for two.
Scoop slam by Wright before going up top for a flying nothing, Buff gets the boots up. Disqo leaves commentary as they exchange rights, jawbreaker by Wright, then sent off the ropes into a back drop. Rolling arm drags and a clothesline by Buff. Wright blocks a splash getting the knees up, then sends Buff off the ropes. Wright tries for a dropkick but Disqo grabs Buff's ankle so Wright misses. Buff with the Blockbuster for the win in 4:22.
Commercial
Big Vito vs Bryan Clark (w/ Brian Adams)
Pre-Match: In another segment cut, Kronik were hired to take out Vito by the same one who hired them to take out Reno on Nitro.
Vito tries to get the jump before the match but it fails, Vito sent into the guard rail before taking it to the ring. Vito taken to the corner for boots, chops and rights. Vito sent across the ring into a shoulder block for two. Vito sent off the ropes, ducks a big boot and delivers some rights, then Clark sent off the ropes into a clothesline, before clotheslining out of the ring. Clark sent to the guard rail and Vito follows with rights. Vito face first off the announce table, then Clark. Adams decks him with a right as Clark distracts the ref.
Back in the ring, Vito sent off the ropes into a clothesline. Vito taken to the corner to crank his neck from the apron. Suplex blocked by Vito, then Clark, then Vito connects with one. Vito up top with the elbow for two. Vito caught with the Meltdown for the win in 4:10.
Reno runs out with a chair to save a beatdown but he's quickly caught with the full nelson slam from Adams. Out comes Marie to check on her brothers.
Commercial
Vito was helped to the back by Reno and Marie during the break.
Reno is walking backstage and runs into the Thrillers. Thrillers don't understand what he's doing because they're his family.
Out comes Franchise, who's set to face Goldberg in what I guess is the main event. He says it takes a lot to piss him off. Rection took away his meal ticket and the jackasses of Nebraska cheer for him. They say great things happen in great places, like New York, Vegas and Pittsburgh, but Lincoln, Nebraska isn't one. It's their lucky night though, because someone in power must not like Goldberg. His destiny and Goldberg's streak run head-to-head tonight, and his destiny won't die tonight, Goldberg's streak ends. Once he stops the streak, Rection loses the US Title to the greatest wrestler, not just in WCW, but to ever grace the ring, and there's nothing the Lincoln assholes can do. He encourages the fans to chant for Goldberg and lead the lamb to slaughter.
Commercial
We learn Sanders has made Kronik vs Reno and a partner of his choosing for Starrcade.
Career-Threatening Streak Match: The Franchise vs Goldberg (28-0)
Pre-Match: Douglas already gets the chain wrapped around his fist before the bell rings, at ringside out of referee's view.
Lock up shoves Doulgas into the corner, then as the ref gets between them Douglas nails him with the chain to take control. More chain shots drops Goldberg to a knee. Douglas tries a headlock but he's countered with a back suplex. Luger suddenly appears on the stage putting Sarge in the rack which gets Goldberg's attention. Douglas attacks and goes for the Franchiser but Goldberg counters with a knee, then kills him with a spear. Jackhammer gets the win in 1:39. Not that I'm a fan of Douglas, but why would you do this to a guy who's challenging for the US Title at the PPV?
Goldberg immediately sprints to the stage where Luger's dropped Sarge. He says he's not waiting until Starrcade and Luger's ass is his on Monday, calling him a primadonna son of a bitch to end the show.
