Thunder
More recapping of Sin, plus last week's funeral and Big Sexy being very pissed off. Plus what happened between Kronik, Totally Buff, Page and Jarrett on Thunder.
Cut to footage from last week. Steiner, Totally Buff and Jarrett are gathered and seemingly watching a game of some kind, but turns out its footage of Sin when Sid broke his leg. They can't get enough of it.
Live from the Lawrence Joel Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, NC for this edition of Nitro, welcomed by Schiavone and Hudson. So happy we're sticking with the two man booth, no Madden, no Disqo. They do point out that Sid broke his leg by accident and it wasn't Steiner's doing, despite taking credit for it.
They also tell us WCW has new owners and it's in a transition period, they don't know what changes will take places or what will happen, but they do wonder if Flair's actions are to cement his place in power during all this.
Out comes Flair and his men, although noticeably absent is Jarrett and Steiner. He says that if you surround yourself with greatness you continue to be great, and calls themselves the greatest unit of all time. Apparently Animal is his personal bodyguard as he runs them down. He says Steiner is on his way in a limo, flying down 85 to save the community, along with Jarrett.
He moves onto the next PPV, Superbrawl Revenge, what he calls the biggest PPV ever put on by WCW, says it's his job that their World Champion has a great opponent. He thought things over and his first thought was Goldberg, then he remembered that Totally Buff retired him and is out of the sport. Then he thought Sid should have a title shot, but the poor guy's in a hospital, and they all feel bad because Steiner broke his leg in two.
So he finally came upon the great German, European star, Alex Wright, who makes his way out. Then Nash comes out before Alex can say much. Flair is enraged that he's been interrupted, Alex speaks some German and decks Nash. Nash decks him right back and jackknifes him through the stage. Nash says Alex isn't #1 contender anymore, and now he is. Flair says Nash will never wrestle Steiner.
Out comes Cat of course. Cat calls Alex a fake Nitro Girl and reveals he's already booked Nash vs Steiner for the PPV. Flair then makes a match between Nash vs Buff with Nash's title shot on the line, which Buff isn't too happy about. Then Ric adds Luger as the special referee. Cat has already booked Luger in a match with DDP tonight, who also comes out.
Page misquotes Piper, then Cat says the winner of that match will referee Nash vs Buff. Page says he wants a piece of Luger all over the building. Flair says if Nash or Buff interfere in that match they're suspended. Flair, despite being a heel, insists he has to be fair as Buff and Luger protest this. Nash says he's gonna get Steiner, the belt, and drive a stake through all their hearts. This power struggle with Flair and Cat makes no sense and makes everything confusing.
Commercial
Sanders finds Chavo and A-Wall, or is it The Wall again, backstage. Flair thinks Chavo has what it takes to be a main event guy, and the rest of them agree. He says they scoured the country to find top cruiserweights, and brought two in tonight for a match. He also says Flair's given them a tag match against Rection and Cajun. Wall says they need two body bags, because the legend of MIA ends tonight.
Jarrett and Steiner arrive. Steiner wants to watch Sid break his leg some more. Flair and co bump into them to recap what just happened and go into Flair's office.
Mike Modest vs Christopher Daniels
Quick back and forth to start the match. Daniel caught with an arm drag and and a pair of arm whips. Modest sent off the ropes, ducks a clothesline but gets a chop. Daniels tries a springboard, his feet slip, and falls back right on the top of his head. Daniels seems fine but gets caught with a pumphandle fallaway slam. Daniels with a snapmare but Modest lands on his feet, ducks a clothesline and delivers one to the back of the head. Enziguri sends Modest out to the floor.
Modest sent into the guard rail, nearly wiping out the camera man. Daniels hops to the apron as Modest tries to whip him into the steps, slips back in the ring to hit a dropkick through the ropes, then skins the cat. Springboard splash by Daniels connects. Back in the ring, Modest sent off the ropes into a dropkick, then a split-legged moonsault for two, he nearly slips again.
Daniels sent to the corner, tries to float over but caught by Modest with a dragon suplex for two. Modest to the middle rope gets caught with a sitout snapmre for two. Daniels up top now but caught with a headscissor. Modest back up top and misses a headbutt. BME gets a near fall for Daniels. Modest with an elevated flatliner for two. Daniels caught with White Noise, Modest covers but Daniels gets his foot on the ropes. Modest tries again, Daniels slips out and tries a backslide. Modest blocks and caught with a version of Angel's Wings, but only gets two. Exchange of chops, then Modest sent off the ropes, ducks some elbows and a crossbody sends them both to the floor. Now out comes Steiner to attack both for the DQ. (6:58) Sigh. I was actually enjoying this one too. Like why do a DQ finish in a match that really won't hurt either guy to lose here
T-bone suplex on both, then uses the pipe to snap both their legs. Steiner gets a mic and has taken offense to commentary calling Sid's injury an accident, he says Sid ran into The Freak, came off the top rope, hit his massive chest, and felt the power, and it sent his leg to the mat, shattered it, and his dreams of becoming World Champion again. He's sending these two jabronis to lay next to Sid so they can talk about the same thing. He doesn't feel sorry for Sid because he gave him fair warning, like Sid, Booker T, and now he's warning Nash. Before he shows up Superbrawl, he reminds him he doesn't fake it, he breaks it. EMT's get Daniels and Modest out of the ring. Steiner attacks them just as it cuts to commercial.
Commercial
We do get the footage we missed of Steiner's attack during the commercial.
Out comes Kwee-Wee and Paisley. Kwee-Wee's all business, he doesn't even do his usual entrance. Schiavone updates us that Daniels and Modest have broken legs. Kwee-Wee reminds us he's angry because Flair doesn't want him, and the fact he's still standing after Rick Steiner's onslaught on Thunder should prove he's all man. He says having Paisley says he's all man. He makes another open challenge to anyone in the back, or any of the fans in attendance.
Kwee-Wee eyes some guy from security in the aisle and goads him into a fight. Other security try to hold him back but he breaks through. Kwee-Wee beats the crap out of him until security pulls him off. Kwee-Wee says this is what Flair's missing with him on his team.

Team Canada comes out and Lance wants to be serious for a minute. He says the war has gone on long enough, that both sides have suffered casualties, Kidman's hair and Awesome's hair. He says tonight will be no different because he's from Calgary, he was born to wrestle and born to win.

Commercial
Franchise finds Totally Buff and wants in on Flair's group. Buff says if Douglas can take Cat out, he's in. Douglas loves it.
Okerlund is backstage with Rection and Cajun, though he calls him Lash Leroux. Cajun just thought Chavo was misunderstood but he sees he didn't understand. He says the only mistake Rection made was trusting Chavo and Wall, but vows to stay with Rection until the very end. Rection during all this has been staring off into space in thought, and doesn't immediately speak when Okerlund tries to get a comment. He says it wasn't supposed to be like this, they were supposed to stay together forever, overcome. Rection says Lash has been a good friend and might be his only friend. Rection takes Lash's shirt and honorably discharges him from MIA. They need to go back to who they are, what they do best, then rips his own shirt off.
