Week of March 12, 2001 (Greed Go-Home)

Nitro
Show starts with Jarrett mid-entrance on his way to the ring. For some reason the commentary audio restarts a few seconds in, not sure what the hell happened there. Dustin appears from behind from out of nowhere and starts laying into Jarrett with rights, then sent off the ropes only to clothesline Jarrett to the floor. Jarrett into the guard rail and some more rights by Dustin, before tossing Jarrett back in the ring.
Jarrett pulls his throat down over the top rope as he tries to get in and now Jarrett with the rights in the corner, then sent off the ropes into an inverted atomic drop and a lariat. Mounted rights in the corner by Dustin, then some more rights knocks Jarrett into the corner. Dustin sets up for Shattered Dreams, what they're calling the Dust Buster and connects before taking a mic. He says he's going to give Jarrett something to choke on at the PPV and he'll kiss Dusty's pimply, ripe ass.

Cut to the back where the rest of the Seven have only just arrived which explains why Jarrett got no help. Buff has a camcordere.

Commercial

We cut to the Seven backstage in the view of Buff's camcorder, Apparently they're filming a documentary on Flair, and Flair has the camera pan around the room to continue calling his guys the Elite of WCW.  He says he's built the company for 20 years, been on both side, wrestled everyone, he says he's had the greatest career in the history of the sport. He also calls himself a x14 World Champion for some reason, and says he's better than Turner and Bill Gates, brings up guys like Hogan, Savage and Piper and how he's run them by.
Steiner runs down his own hit list, Booker, Sting, Goldberg, Sid, Nash and now Diamond Dallas "White Trash". Jarrett joins them upset they didn't help him and catches them all up to speed and they explain why they didn't. Flair has an idea for Steiner tonight to kill two birds with one stone.

Commentary recap some things, including Kanyon taking out Smooth on Thunder, plus apparently the new owners of WCW may be at ringside tonight, we see seats have been reserved for them.

Recap of the Cruisereweight Tag Title tournament.

Commercial

Commentary try to send it to the back but production takes forever. Finally cut to the back where Midajah, who hasn't been seen since Superbrawl, has been laid out and Steiner is there checking on her. Steiner shoves the cameraman out of the room.

Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships Tournament Semifinals: Jung Dragons vs Elix Skipper & Kid Romeo
Romeo and Skipper with cheap shots right out of the gate taking the Dragons to opposite corners, then Elix gets clotheslined by Yang. Chops by the Dragons ping pong Romeo, then sends him to the corner for  an enziguri. Yang goes up top for Yang Time but Elix saves Romeo, only for Romeo to be taken out with a crossbody. Kaz with a corkscrew moonsault takes out Elix. Kaz and Romeo return to the ring as the legal men, Kaz sent off the ropes, and Elix I think tries for a buckshot lariat, but their timing is way off and they just sort of collide with each other. Short-arm clothesline by Romeo.
Elix tags in stomping away at Kaz, then some kicks by Kaz until Elix avoids a leg sweep, following with a a double-underhook belly to belly. Mounted rights to Elix in the corner until Romeo saves. Running powerbomb neckbreaker combination from Romeo and Elix for a cover but Kaz saves it. Elix sent off the ropes, Elix tries a sunset flip but gets kicked in the side of the head. Romeo with the Snow Plow on Kaz but Yang saves it.
Yang with a fisherman's buster on Romeo and Elix saves it. Elix sent off the ropes and Yang crossbodies him to the floor. (5:05) Excellent match for how short it was. Also glad we're not redoing a  3 Count/Dragons match like I was sure they were going toward.

Greed plug.

Spring Breakout plug.

Back to the camcorder and the Seven are trying to figure out what happened to Midajah. Steiner is accusing everyone of attacking her and everyone's yelling over everyone. Steiner decides to look at the tape.

Team Canada vs The Mamalukes
Pre-Match: So they play the footage that was very obviously edited out from the Storm/Konnan match on Thunder. While Konnan had Storm in the Maple Leaf, Awesome pulled Konnan out of the ring to make the save, and eventually led to Storm winning. Storm wants to be serious for a minute. He's noticed the further they get to the Canadian border, the lower the IQ of the crowd. Being as far south as they are, he probably has a higher IQ than the front row combined, then calls for everyone to stand for the anthem. Mamalukes come out and Vito calls Team Canada "pieces of Canadian baco-bits. Vito says they're gonna take them to the neighborhood Italian-style and they'll never talk about America again.
Canada sent off the ropes into inverted atomic drops, then a pair of clotheslines, Vito and Storm going to the floor. Awesome gets whipped toward Vito for a clothesline but ducks, nailing one of his own instead. He and Storm go after Johnny, tossing him back in the ring. Johnny sent off the ropes into double lariats. Johnny face first in the corner, then Storms sent across the ring, gets a boot up, leaps off the middle rope into a dropkick.
Awesome and Vito tag in, clothesline by Awesome. Vito sent to the corner for a running splash. Vito sent off the ropes, blocks a big boot, then sends Awesome off the ropes into a sidewalk slam, then drops Storm off the apron. Johnny comes in, Awesome sent off the ropes into a double spinebuster. Vito tries a DDT but Storm comes off the top with a missile dropkick. Awesome struggles to get Vito up but eventually delivers the Awesome Bomb for the win. (2:47)

Storm and Awesome attack Johnny after the match and he eats an Awesome Bomb too, plus a Maple Leaf from Storm. Konnan and Morrus make the save, Konnan hits a facejam on Awesome and Morrus gets Storm with a running powerslam.

Commercial

Stacy Keibler comes out with a baby carriage, crew are sure to be careful getting in the ring. Stacy says there's been a lot of changes in her life since she's last been around, she's not the same girl who left David at the altar, or the one who would do anything to anyone who got in her way. She changed because of the people, the cards and the letters they sent her, overwhelming how much support she got at a difficult time. But she's also changed because of her baby. She's here to introduce us also to her newest "baby."
Out comes Stasiak now much to everyone's confusion. We get a "Meat" chant which made me chuckle. He says that only a man like him could have a woman like Stacy, and she asks "Mecca" to show everyone how he rocks her world. So Stacy does her dance routine while Stasiak shows himself off. Stasiak and Stacy pull out the "baby" from the carriage and it's just more of his 8x10s. Because he loves the fans so much, he throws them out to the fans, and everyone there has nothing going for them. He sees nothing but bald, disgusting, toothless losers.
Now here's Bam Bam Bigelow of all people, because, by his own admission, he's fat, bald and tattooed up with teeth missing. He takes offense because Stasiak's calling him a zero. Stasiak tries to run him over with the carriage but Bigelow shrugs it off and clotheslines Stasiak out to the floor. Bigelow challenges him to a match at Greed. I've got so many questions.

Back to the camcorder and they play the footage from earlier to try and find out who attacked Midajah. This is following immediately after the talk Flair and Steiner had. Jarrett leaves for the showers, Rick leaves to get money from his bookie, Animal leaves to touch up his face paint. Luger leaves to get ready for a match. Buff asks  Midajah how it feels to be back, but the battery is low so he sets down the camera and leaves.
Someone turns the camera away from her, we hear her scream, and that's it. Steiner just gets more pissed for not getting anything. Sanders comes in to tell Flair something, and he tells Steiner Booker is on the way to the ring.

Commercial

We're reminded the new owners may be here, but haven't arrived yet.

Booker T makes his way out dressed to wrestle. He says he's been back a few weeks and that it feels real good, and he already got a surprise party last week. He came to Knoxville for one reason, and while he focused on Steiner, he forgot everyone else in the back. Whether it's Jarrett, the Steiners, Filthy Animals (for some reason) and even Flair, calling him an ancient, decrepit old buzzard. He's not leaving until someone brings their ass out to get it whooped.
Out comes Scott not dressed to wrestle. He heard Booker wanted payback and revenge, and it's already been arranged. He says Booker will face one of them, but that cues Page's music and Page arrives among the fans. Page says it's not going down without him, and Steiner asks him to do jumping jacks because he blends in with the white trash. Page says Steiner really sucks. Booker tells Steiner to lie in his bed now that he's made it.
Steiner says he's taking the night off, and announces that Page will face Rick later, who will torture him so much he won't make it to Greed. He gets Page's mic cut off and says if Page interferes in Booker's match he forfeits his title shot. Luger makes his way out to attack from behind, laying into Booker with stomps and rights, Booker sent off the ropes into a powerslam. Luger gets Booker in the Rack, a ref finally runs in to ring the bell. Luger thinks it's because he's won, so he drops Booker, but it's to actually start the match.

Booker T vs Lex  Luger
Luger with ax handles to the back, then Booker sent off the ropes, ducks a forearm and hits one of his own. Booker sent to the corner, gets a boot up and hits a pump kick. Sidewalk slam gets Booker a two count. Booker pulled through the ropes to the floor. Booker with a back kick only to be sent to the guard rail, then across the floor into the guard rail again. Back in the ring, Luger covers for two. Scoop slam by Luger for two. Suplex by Luger  then some posing before a two count. Booker tries to mount a comeback but he eats a knee to the gut and a club to the back.
Snapmare and a surfboard by Luger. Luger fights back to his sleep only to be caught with a knee, then avoids a back drop to roll Luger up for two. Booker sent to the corner, floats over into a rollup for two. Luger rakes the eyes and clubs Booker back down. Booker blocks a suplex and hits one of his own. Ax kick by Booker, then the Harlem Side Kick. Booker gets the Book End for the win. (5:42) Even Booker could only get so much out of Luger here, but at least he won.

Rick's here and misses a chair shot. Booker hits him with the ax kick but Luger nails him in the head with the chair. Rick gets him with the Steiner Driver. Cat's here now to clear house, sent off the ropes, ducks a double clothesline and hits one of his own. Roundhouse to Steiner, back kick to Luger, then a double throat shot. Kanyon's here and hits the Flatliner on Cat and a triple team ensues. Kanyon nails Cat with a Flatliner on the floor. Steiner hits booker in the back with a chair. DDP finally runs out with a chair for a too late save.

Commercial

Evan Karagias vs Shane Helms

Shane sent off the ropes, Evan leaps up, caught with a sitout powerbomb for two. Gutwrench suplex by Shane, then to the middle rope with a fist drop for two. Evan avoids a fireman's carry to hit a spinebuster out of a military press for two. Scoop slam by Evan, then misses a springboard moonsaul. Shane tries the Vertebreaker, Evan gets him inton electric chair position, Shane with a victory roll for two.
Shane runs into a back elbow after missing a clothesline, Evan gets two. Evan with a snap suplex, then off the ropes with a leg drop. Shane tries to mount a comeback but he's clubbed and kicked into the corner. Front slam by Evan who goes up top but he's caught in a fireman's facebuster, then the running neckbreaker.
Exchange of rights, then Evan sent to the corner eating a Sugar Smack superkick for two. Shane sent off the ropes, caught in a German suplex off a wheelbarrow attempt for two. DDT by Evan who goes back up top with a corkscrew splash but it only gets two. Evan sent off the ropes, avoids a tilt-a-whirl but caught with Nightmare on Helms Street. Vertebreaker gets Shane the win. (6:04) It was a fine match, but something seemed a bit off with Evan, wasn't as fast as he usually is.

Chavo's here immediately to hit a brainbuster on Shane, then gets in his face to talk some smack.

Commercial

Cut to a security camera feed in the back. MI Smooth approaches Disqo. Disqo's supposed to wrestle Kanyon but Smooth says he's taking his place to get some payback. Disqo tells him he's having the match and Smooth can keep the limo warm for when he's done. Smooth lays him out with a right and leaves.

Cut to footage filmed last week of Dusty and Dustin in the locker room. Dusty talks about the meaning of Greed and how it pertained to Jarrett and Flair, and when they beat the two, Dusty vows to pull down his pants, bent over, and Flair will kiss his big, pimply white ass. Cut to Flair and Jarret, and they take joy in humiliating the Rhodes. Flair is excited to know he's going to be in Jacksonville with Jarrett against the Rhodes. Flair vows that they'll win and Dusty will kiss his ass instead.

Commercial

Kanyon vs MI Smooth
Smooth comes out barely able to walk. Commentary tell us he has a litany of injuries, including a torn meniscus and a concussion, and he's out in his suit not dressed to wrestle. Smooth takes forever to walk to the ring, and the referee tries to reason with him but Smooth is having none of it.
Kanyon barely lets him get in the ring and hammers him with rights, Smooth down in the corner. Smooth asks for more, so Kanyon lays into him some more, hammering him in the side of the head with more rights. Kanyon decides to just leave but Smooth won't stay down. Kanyon lays into him some more, then he tries to leave again. Smooth continues to get back up so Kanyon lays in some more. Kanyon grabs a chair and just kills Smooth with a shot to the head, then a second and a third and a fourth. Smooth still refuses to stay down and Kanyon looks on in disbelief. Kanyon just keeps backing away toward the back. OK I guess this wasn't actually  a match, the bell never rang to start or finish it.

Commercial

Plug for Spring Breakout.

The Steiners come out for the main event. Scott says Page has lied to himself so many times that he believes his own hype, believes he'll outthink him, which is a pretty strong statement for a guy who had to get hooked on phonics to get into high school and was too stupid to go college because his SAT scores, none of the questions consisted of white trash knowledge. He tells Page not to take it personally, he hates all white trash, and if not for the PPV, they'd only have met if Page was detailing his car or cutting his grass. He says the rambles a bit about the Earth and the dark side of the moon and says he'll come at Page with a vengeance and eclipse his ass. He says Page will lie in the same path as Sting, Booker, Sid and Goldberg, and he's going down as the greatest World Champion of all time. He says he's the man and there's only one genetic freak, and wishes Page luck on surviving against Rick.
