Week of March 5, 2001

Nitro
Cut to Rick Steiner in the ring telling Booker T he's never been anything without Stevie, and as a champion he was nothing, and has never beaten Rick. He says Booker doesn't scare him and he doesn't give a damn about Booker, then calls him out. Booker wastes no time coming out and says there's lots of bad blood with Scott and him, which hell deal with, but for Rick, he'll go to the ring for the fans, and not only will he go to the ring he'll whip Rick's ass all over the place. At the end of the night he'll be US Champion before calling for a referee. Rick meets him in the aisle but Booker quickly takes control, dropping Rick on the guard rail and the bell finally rings to start this.

Booker T vs Rick Steiner (WCW US Heavyweight Champion)
Clothesline by Booker on the floor, then Steiner face first off the steps. In the ring now, Booker's almost low blowed but gets nailed in the thigh, then booted down and sent face first into the corner. Steiner with some rapid rights drops him for two, then a rear chinlock. Booker sent off the ropes into a Steinerline for two. Booker driven into the corner with a right, then the ref gets shoved, Booker sent across the ring, gets Steiner with a back elbow and delivers some rights. Mounted rights now in the corner by Booker, then Steiner sent across the ring, gets a boot up. Booker sent to the corner, floats over, caught with a back elbow and a belly to belly for two.
Steiner sent off the ropes into a sleeper, Steiner tries to counter with a back suplex, Booker counters and falls on top for two. Booker tries to come off the ropes but he's caught with a clothesline for two. Steiner with a double-underhook powerbomb for two. Steiner to the top rope only to be crotched taking too long. Booker joins him with something resembling a jackhammer for two.
Ax kick connects followed by a spinaroonie and the Harlem Side Kick. Booker tries the Book End, then Steiner tries a Steiner Driver but they just kind of fall, Booker covers for two. Booker tries the Book End again, I think Rick gets him with a low blow? Or maybe just a knee. Then Scott runs out and the ref calls for the DQ.  (5:24) Even Booker couldn't get a good match out of Rick Steiner.

Steiners attack until DDP comes out to even things up. Scott sends Page off the ropes only to get low bridged to the floor. Security are here to take control of things. Booker says he knew Steiner would run out eventually but isn't done with him. Page says that he's not the hunted, but the hunter, and by the time Scott's muscled up, genetic freak, pea-brained mind figures it out, it'll be too late. Page and Scott both want each other so Page challenges the Steiners to a tag match for later.

Commercial

Commentary tell us that Flair booked Jarrett vs Dusty (yes, not Dustin) Rhodes for tonight, and we're reminded of Dusty's appearance a month ago fighting with Flair and Animal. Hudson then says Dusty's not under contract, which begs the question of how Flair booked this match.

Reminders of Filthy Animals beating Swinger & Lee, and Dragons beating Sanders and Kwee-Wee last week to advance in the tournament.

WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship Tournament Quarterfinals: Air Paris & AJ Styles vs "Primetime" Elix Skipper & ???
Pre-Match: Elix reminds us this is his house and he built it. He's going to show the rednecks in the crowd something they've never seen, and are looking at half of the first-ever Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions, before introducing Kid Romeo.
Romeo and Styles start the match. Quick takeover by Romeo followed by some jumping jacks, then Styles with a quick takeover. Romeo with a cheap shot to take control, sends AJ off the ropes only to be dumped to the floor. Romeo catches him on a baseball slide attempt and sends him face first off the announce table. Paris tries a suicide dive onto Romeo but his feet catches the rope and botches it. Elix takes out Paris with a corkscrew crossbody. Elix sends Styles towards the guard rail who back flips off it and over Elix, clubs him down. Styles get Elix in some kind of Romero hold on the floor for Paris to nail him with a running dropkick. Romeo off the steps with a clothesline on Paris.
Back in the ring, Paris sent off the ropes, avoids a slam, sends Romeo off the ropes as Styles comes in with a double inverted slam. Styles covers and Elix saves it. Paris sent off the ropes, floats over Elix and nails a superkick as he turns around.
Styles gets the hot tag and in comes Romeo. Rights to Romeo and Elix, then a pair of scoop slams. Paris back in with double dropkicks on Elix, then on Romeo, sending him to the floor. Paris with a somersault from the top onto Romeo. Elix nails Styles from behind, then hits an Asai moonsault onto Paris and Romeo on the floor. Styles hits a springboard crossbody onto all three. Back in the ring, Elix comes off the ropes into a dropkick from Styles, then tries to come off the ropes but gets low bridged by Romeo, before being thrown into the steps.
Romeo sent into the apron, who pops Paris onto it, for Elix to springboard dropkick into a powerslam by Romeo on the floor. Chavo comes out while Style gets caught by a dive from Elix from the ring. Back in the ring, slingshot dropkick by Elix sets Paris up for the Snow Plow from Romeo for the win. (5:28) Excellent match.

Cut somewhere backstage to Palumbo and O'Haire. O'Haire says they're prepared to defend their titles against Totally Buff at Greed, but he's got Luger tonight. He says that when he was told he had a match with Lex, he told them that Lex has a fight with him. He says he'll make sure to get payback for what they did to Palumbo the week before. He says Luger will leave knowing he's been in a real fight.

Commercial

Lex Luger vs Sean O'Haire (WCW World Tag Team Champion)

Luger poses a lot before covering for two.
O'Haire taken to the corner for more boots, then sent across the ring, flips over Luger but his knee gives out landing on his feet. Luger capiitalizes with stomps to the knee. Palumbo runs out and pulls Luger from the ring for some rights. Buff comes out with a chair to nail O'Haire in the back and knee, before putting his knee in the chair. Ref finally sees this, after doing nothing about the blatant interference from Palumbo, and takes the chair away, while Buff drops Palumbo from the apron. Luger caught with a small package for two.
Ref also tried to eject Buff, then is doing the same with Palumbo allowing Buff to return. Luger sets O'Haire up for the Blockbuster but he gets it instead as O'Haire moves out of the way. Seanton Bomb connects as Palumbo pulls Buff out for the win. (6:09) Bad match and an ending sequence that made no sense. But at least Luger lost I guesss?

Buff returns to get O'Haire with the Blockbuster. Palumbo finally runs in to chase off Buff and Luger.

Also should be noted that commentary announced Konnan vs Storm for Thunderr.

Commercial

A limo arrives with an "UPSTATE" license plate, and cut inside to Kanyon and Stasiak. It's Stasiak's limo who was more than happy to give Kanyon a ride. Kanyon is going to visit Ms. Jones in the hospital and has his own camera crew to catch it. He even has a hospital gown. Stasiak gives him an autographed 8x10 to give her as a gift.

Chavo is elsewhere to say he's not scared of Helms and that Helms should be scared and running from him. He says he's the champion and Helms should be gunning his way, he's beaten Helms before, and will prove tonight he can do it again. He says when he leaves Helms in a pool of his own blood at Greed, he'll walk away with the belt. He tells Shane to get a good look as it'll be the closest he gets to the title.

Cut elsewhere and Storm leads Konnan into a trap, he and Awesome toss him into some crates. Morrus comes by for the save before security split them, and Awesome wants Morrus tonight.

Commercial

Jarrett makes his way out for his match with Dusty and I suspect shenanigans. We're reminded of Jarrett beating Dustin last week with help from Flair. Jarrett says he's finally achieved his destiny in putting the Rhodes name and legacy to rest. He says Flair didn't want this match to happen, but Jarrett told him he'd beat Dusty right in the middle of the ring, like he did to good-for-nothing Dustin. He calls Dusty out so he can finally put his big, fat, white ass to rest.
Out comes "Dusty". Hudson compares him to Fat Bastard from Austin Powers, and Schiavone says he looks like Dusty's great-grandaddy. Jarrett says he can tell "Dusty" came to fight because he didn't bring his bucket of fried chicken.

Jeff Jarrett vs "Dusty Rhodes"
Jarrett is sent off the ropes off a lock up, hooks the rope to avoid a Bionic Elbow, then struts. Dusty poses, then Jarrett teases a Bionic Elbow, but Dusty begs him off. Knee by Jarrett and a right, then a double chop and a low blow, followed by the Bionic Elbow. Then an elbow drop for the win. (0:56)

Jarrett says he's going to seal this with a kiss because the Dream will finally kiss the Chosen One's ass. Dustin finally runs out to put an end to this, dropping Jarrett with rights, then Jarrett sent off the ropes into an atomic drop and a clothesline. Dustin with mounted rights in the corner, then a clothesline sends Jarrett to the floor. Jarrett sent into the guard rail, then again before they return to the ring. Dustin sent off the ropes but gets Jarrett with a bulldog.
Meanwhile, "Dusty" gets up from the corner to remove his makeup to reveal it's Flair donning the disguise. Flair gets dropped allowing Jarrett to capitalize and a double team ensues. Jarrett grabs a chair and nails Dustin in the back repeatedly. The real Dusty's here now, Bionic Elbows and rights and double chops around send Flair and Jarrett packing. Flair calls Dusty a dead man and calls for security as he's not under contract.
Dusty's got a mic now. He talks about Jerry Jarrett, and kind of rambles a bit about Jerry and calls Flair "fat boy" getting all giddy about it. He talks about imitation and flattery, and once said Arn Anderson was a walk-behinder and Flair was a megastar, but now Flair is nothing but an extra. Jarrett and Flair return to the ring, Flair is dropped with more elbows and Dustin drops Jarrett, sending them packing a second time.
Flair gets a mic again and says Dusty would get his ass kicked if he worked for WCW, and Dustin reminds them that he does though, but Flair screams that he doesn't. Flair challenges them to a tag match for Greed so they can beat the living hell out of the Rhodeses, and Dustin has to win to keep his job. Dusty says he'll drag his big fat ass to Greed and make Flair kiss it. That was messy.

Back in the ring, Chavo stomps him down in the corner before some face washing, then a chop drops Shane to the mat. Shane sent off the ropes into a clothesline. Shane starts to fight back, then off the ropes only to be tripped by Skipper. Chavo tries to capitalize but he's caught with a backslide for two. Shane rolled up for two. Shane sent off the ropes, gets Chavo with a kick, then dives onto Romeo and Skipper.

Skipper comes in to hit a variation of a Hart Attack with Chavo while the ref deals with Romeo. Brainbuster by Chavo gets the win. I continue to question why this match happened.

Commercial

Kanyon pulls the curtain as Ms. Jones wakes up, he muffles her screams. Kanyon says Cat cares for her, but he doesn't get it, he sees nothing, so to get to Cat, he has to get through her. Scott Steiner throws a trash can backstage.

Commercial

Steiner makes his way out. He says that Page just runs from him because he fears him, and has felt the power of the genetic freak. He calls Page white trash and says his path of destruction will continue, joining Sting, Nash, Goldberg and Sid, and there's nothing he can do. He says he'll solidify and people will recognize he's the greatest world champion of all time. He finally found Page on Nitro among the rest of the white trash, and was about to take him out until Cat stuck his nose in his business, and for every action there's a reaction. He says he's going to use Cat as a warmup, so he's giving Cat a chance to face him tonight, and he'll find out there's nothing finer than Scott Steiner.

He, along with Buff, eliminated the monster of pro wrestling, Goldberg, forever. He says in spite of all that, sometimes as a perfectionist, those couple things bother you, like a loss, such a rare occurrence. Cut to footage from earlier in the day presumably, Booker sitting in the stands of an empty arena talking to someone off-screen. He says Steiner put him out of the game back at Mayhem, cracked his sternum with a freaky move and he went home to nurse. He also got his knee scoped after the numerous attacks and vows to get Steiner. He said he went through grueling rehab  and could only think of Steiner. He says he'll deal with Steiner but Page has a date with destiny. He says he has no issue taking out Rick first, and he's still missing some gold, and he'll be bringing the US Title with him when he gets Scott.
