Week of August 7, 2000
Raw
Recap of HHH and Steph's marital issues, along with Angle and Trish's involvement from last week.
Steph is pacing and waiting in the parking lot.
Live from Madison Square Garden for this edition of Raw, kicking off with Rock coming out to the ring. He brings up how Shane hit him with a chair on Smackdown, and how Benoit pinned Rock. He figures Shane is trying to send a message, that Benoit should be the WWF Champion, that Benoit should challenge for the title at Summerslam. Rock says that after careful consideration, he wipes an NYC sewer rat's ass with what Shane thinks, offering Benoit up a title shot for right now.
Benoit and Shane, speak of the devils, come out. Benoit says that everyone knows he beat Rock for the title all by himself, only to have it stripped by Foley, but he says it's alright. He says by accepting the challenge tonight, it gives him the chance to beat Rock and become WWF Champion. Shane says it'll happen under a special stipulation, not elaborated on just yet. He's surprised Rock can remember anything after the chairshot and Benoit's headbutt, so Shane had production put together a special tape to remind him. He says Benoit will do it again tonight, and Rock will suffer the same fate that Undertaker, Jericho and Kane, who we're reminded was chokeslammed through the stage on Smackdown. Shane announces that their title match will be No DQ.
Rock has no problem with it, while Shane has no IQ, and also makes fun of Benoit's teeth gap. He says it doesn't matter because he's not losing the title and won't be taken out, guaranteeing to kick both their asses all over NYC.
Angle finds Foley backstage, who's office this week is just a forklift. He's also holding a cactus for some reason. Foley says Rock/Benoit was going to be for Summerslam but makes it official since the people want it. Angle wants to talk about Summerslam, he brings up winning his medals, and says he should be the #1 contender for Summerslam. Foley says he has enthusiasm and talks about Kurt winning the medals, and King of the Ring, plus his win on SmackDown with Steph. Foley says he'll take his request under advisement.
Commercial
Steph is still pacing in the parking lot and a limo pulls in. HHH steps out. Steph wants to talk about Kurt but Trips doesn't want to talk about it right now, saying he needs some space. She directs him to Foley's office.
X-Pac vs Rikishi
X-Pac starts with some rights driving Kish into the corner, only to be shoved across the ring. More rights drives Kish back into the corner and he's shoved across the ring again. X-Pac sent off the ropes, tries a sunset flip, and avoids a hip drop. Kicks drive Kish into the corner, and a pair of spin kicks sets up for a bronco buster. More kicks to the ribs and chest, then off the ropes, popped up into a cutter.
Hip attack in the corner by kish sets up for a Stinkface, while Road Dogg watches on backstage laughing. Superkick connects by Rikishi, who's dragged to the corner to set up for the Banzai Drop. Road Dogg runs out with a low blow for the save and the DQ. (2:58)
Kish gets double teamed after the bell.
Back to Foley in his office and HHh is pissed because of the Rock/Benoit match booked for tonight. He wants to be the #1 contender and doesn't care who wins that match. Foley tells him Angle's already beaten him to the punch but that he never promised anything yet. He promises to take Trips' request under advisement too.
Commercial
The "Save the Ho's" campaign continued earlier int he day.
Steph is polishing her belt and Trips walks in. At first he doesn't want to talk but then he gets riled up about Kurt going to Foley, which Steph brushes off and pisses him off more. He's done talking about Kurt and promises to kick his ass if he sees him tonight.
Right to Censor are here. He talks about how Giuliani promised to clean up the city that never sleeps, and commends him for making New York much cleaner, safer and more acceptable for tourism. As Giuliani fought the good fight, so will they fight to make the WWF a more wholesome place for entertainment. As long as the WWF has the right to censorship, he says we can say goodbye to gratuitous violence, vulgarity, and most of all scantily clad women. If anyone has a problem, he says they're more than welcome to come out and discuss it further.
The Dudleyz come out to answer the challenge. Bubba says the people of New York really want to see is for them to put RTC through a table.
Dudley Boyz vs Right to Censor (w/ Steven Richards)
Dudleyz take early control with clotheslines, then D-Von and Bull start as the legal men, D-Von comes off the ropes with a clothesline. D-Von sent off the ropes into back elbows, then a scoop slam and a series of elbow drop. Goodfather off the ropes misses a leg drop, then sends D-Von off the ropes, tripped up by Richards and eats a big boot. Back suplex by Goodfather gets two.
Goodfather with rights in the corner, sends D-Von across the ring to set up for... well, whatever they're calling the Ho Train now, but D-Von moves out of the way, then off the ropes with a flying forearm. Bubba with the hot tag and in comes Bull. Bubba with a back drop, then a cheap shot to Goodfather, setting up for the What's Up behind the ref's back, then another for Goodfather. 3D connects, Bubba makes the cover, but Richards breaks it up for the DQ. (3:25)
Richards tries a cheap shot but he's caught with a What's Up for his troubles. D-Von pulls out a table while the hos come to ringside. Dudleyz go to set up Richards for a powerbomb from the top but Goodfather cracks Bubba over the head with something, then D-Von. Richards tosses in two of the hos, Goodfather powerbombs one of them through the table.
Steph is in Kurt's locker room checking out his medals, while he checks out her title belt. Steph is here to try and patch things up. Kurt thinks Trips should have to do sensitivity training. She thanks him for being a good friend and they shake hands.

Eddie Guerrero & Too Cool (w/ Chyna) vs T&A & Val Venis (WWF Intercontinental Champion) (w/ Trish Stratus)

Too Cool and T&A take control with Test being back dropped to the floor, then Albert. Val and Scotty are in the corner, Scotty sent to the corner, avoids an elbow and Scotty hits the bulldog to set up and connect with The Worm. Albert runs in with a pump kick while Sexay is dropped face first on the steps. Val sends Scotty off the ropes and they take each other out with double clotheslines.
Chyna, who's not in the match, somehow tags in and the ref allows it, dropping Val with forearms and a scoop slam. Test gets low blowed behind the ref's back while she sends Test to the floor, until getting floored by Val with a clothesline. Albert tags in with a kidney shot and a right sends her to the corner. Albert is whipped into her for a splash and Test nails her with a big boot. Val back in, goes up top but gets crotched by Sexay. Scotty gets nailed by Albert from behind and Test fights with Scotty on the floor. Test sent into the steps. Val with a fisherman suplex but the ref is busy on the floor, Eddie comes off the top with a frog splash on Val, Chyna rolls over for the win. (3:50)
Somehow Eddie is also announced as the winner, so this was a 4 on 3 match I guess?
Just Joe now comes to Kurt's locker room and says Trips has been disrespecting Kurt, his medals, his accomplishments, and has even reduced Steph to tears. Kurt tells him to tell Trips that he's waiting for him and will make him cry like a baby.
Stephanie comes out now and wants to publicly apologize to HHH for what happened on SmackDown, and reiterates that her and Kurt are just friends, nothing more between them. She says she was excited after pinning Lita, Kurt was there, and shouldn't have hugged him for so long. She asks him to come out.
HHH eventually does come out and she apologizes some more, for being impatient, quick to anger and to make assumptions. He's given her a lot of time to think and she knows why she's been so irrational. She says she's been jealous, which gets a bullshit chant. She rationalizes that if they didn't fight then they wouldn't care, she loves him more than anything else, and more than she thought she was capable of loving anyone. She can't bare the thought of him with another woman. She gets a big ol' hug.Now she wants to talk about business so she calls Kurt out now.
She barely gets the words out before Kurt comes out. He talks about the heat of battle, something quoted by soldiers, or by New Yorkers running from cops, or athletes like the two of them. He admits he and Steph got caught up in the heat of battle, as friends, but that's all. He respects her and their marriage, and when she jumped into his arms, all he could think about is their friendship, and how sacred their marriage is.Trips isn't buying it, going so far as to call her naive, and knows Kurt's full of shit. He's about to threaten him but Steph has to pull them apart and tries to get back to business. She says if he really loves her then he'll shake hands with Kurt. Kurt even holds out his hand and Steph insists she has no feelings for him.
Foley's here now. He doesn't want to break up this threesome, but before they decide to forgive or not, he tells them to examine the relevant information first, including video evidence he got from SmackDown. Specifically the footage of Kurt and Steph's big embrace at the end of the show. But more importantly, he wants to see the two of them beat the hell out of each other, he's tired of hearing them bitch and moan about their relationship. He announces Kurt vs HHH in a #1 contender's match for tonight.
Benoit and Shane are walking backstage, as is Rock, their match next.

Tazz comes out, apparently unscheduled per JR and plays to his hometown crowd. He says that he and the MSG crowd are native New Yorkers but that's where their comparisons end, because while they're scraping by to feed their fat kids, he's made it in the game of life. He expects them to boo him, they don't know any better because they're preconditioned to boo the bad guy, but there's someone he expects more from, and that's JR.
Tazz goes back to Fully Loaded, where JR called him, quote, "a piece of garbage." Last week he said Tazz was just, quote, "another victim to the Stinkyface." Tazz is trying to goad him asking if he has a problem, and calls him nothing but a redneck scumbag. JR gets out of his feet, as does Lawler, and Tazz tells Lawler to sit down before he's choked out.
Tazz thinks JR wants to fight him, and the fans want to see JR kick his ass. Tazz knocks his hat off and says he just got punked out. Tazz tries to goad him into slapping him, says God beat him to slapping JR already. JR takes the bait and smacks him in the face, and Tazz says wants him to do it again, to play John Wayne and be hero. Lawler decks him instead with a right hand and referees run out to pull them apart before it devolves further.
Commercial

Recap of Raw's main event.
Broadcast from the Continental Airlines arena in East Rutherford, NJ for this edition of Smackdown, welcomed by Cole and Lawler as always.
Commissioner Foley comes out to start the show. He plugs his latest book while talking about the #1 contender situation, and he says he has to consider the integrity of his position when making a decision. Angle and Shane come out together before Foley can announce his decision. Angle says he suplexed Jericho and covered him, so he should be the one to challenge Rock at Summerslam. He's only upset that his friend Steph was Rock Bottomed by Rock. He says that won't happen to him, he won't become the New Jersey of champions, he'll have class and pride. He says he'll raise the standard of being WWF Champion, one that hasn't been experienced since the days of Sammartino.
Foley is again interrupted now that HHH comes out with Steph, Steph selling her back from the Rock Bottom, Trips and Angle go pretty much nose to nose. Trips says Foley isn't the smartest commissioner, but doesn't think Foley would listen to that jerk Angle (it's true, it's true). He says Foley knows Angle's not in that league and doesn't deserve to be named #1 contender, saying he pinned Jericho and should be celebrating his victory. The only thing he takes exception to is that Kurt has any concern for Steph, and tells him to stay away from her.
Shane has to separate them while Kurt has a shit eating grin on his face. Shane brings up the pain Steph is in, and they're all united on wanting vengeance and payback on Rock, and will take Rock out. Steph thanks all three, as well as the fans for sharing her pain. She doesn't want them to worry because even not even a Rock Bottom will keep her from defending her title as soon as she's physically able.
Foley was also concerned when Rock laid her out, as well as the fans, and as commissioner and representative of the people, asks how her back is feeling. Just to channel his inner rock and claim it doesn't matter what she's feeling. He finally gets to his point about the #1 contender, since both their arms were raised, they'll both challenge for the WWF Title at Summerslam. He also pits them against Taker and Rock for tonight.
Trish and Val find Chyna getting her makeup done. They trade barbs until Eddie appears to fight with Val until ref's pull them apart.
Commercial
Edge and Christian are backstage. Edge talks about starring in Highlander: Endgame and says the cast want to hang with them tonight. Jericho gets Benoit in the Walls after the match. Val tries to save but Chyna and Eddie take him out. Shane makes the save only to be put in the Walls instead. Now Albert is here to save sending Eddie into the ring post. Benoit saves Shane and puts Jericho in the crossface, referees having to pull him off, just for Benoit to put the hold on again.

The WWF Whack of the Night is the ho being put through a table on Raw.
Coach was at a local medical facility earlier in the day to check up on the ho who went through the table, who I somehow failed to realized was the future Victoria. She's also accompanied by another ho. He asks if she feels their protests were in vain after what happened on Raw. She says they were fighting for what they believed in, that they express their individuality through the way they dress. She says Richards is wrong and will appeal to Foley so Richards is punished. She also threatens to sue him. Coach asks how they feel about censorship in general. The other ho thought the constitution gave them certain rights and liberties, but thinks she may be wrong if Richards gets away with this.
Trips catches up Steph on his conversation with Joe and in walks Shane and Angle. Trips and Angle nearly come to blows and Shane keeps them under control. Shane says he won't be out there, and neither will Steph, telling them to work it out by themselves.
Kevin Kelly is with Rock backstage and asks if he's concerned about having to defend against Angle and Trips at Summerslam. Rock instead asks if Kevin has female and male genitalia. Kevin says that's ridiculous and Rock says it is, just as much as his question about his concern about Summerslam. Kevin tries to defend himself and says he hass one perfectly working set of genitalia, only to be cut off and be called Hermie. Rock says he's thinking about tonight and couldn't care less about HHH's marital problems, whether or not he and Steph trust each other, Trips trusts Angle, but says they can trust that he and Taker will lay the smackdown on their candy asses.
